Sainsburys £100 gift card SCAM message

Not sure if this is in the right place but just a warning re this WhatsApp message that I received which looked like it was from someone in my contacts but the number wasn't recognised.

I googled sainsburys £100 gift card as it seemed like a great deal especially at this time of year but seemed to be too good to be true ....and there are lots of reports re this scam so I am glad I did not click on any of the links and deleted this from my phone. Just wanted to let people know at it seemed like it was from a credible source but obviously not !

I got it, what exactly is the scam?

They didn't ask me for any money.

search or google "whatsapp scam sainsburys £100 voucher" - there are lots of newspaper reports

the link contained in the whatsapp message takes you to a scam webpage to trick you into handing over personal information and will install malware

I got one & I filled in the form, I forwarded it to 10, then realised I had to do them one at a time, did 2 & stopped.

    Mine came from my boss!!!

I have some stored passwords, eBay, PayPal, Amazon, bank - is it after them?

I'm not very up on cyber crime.

I have an iPhone 6 - in case it's relevant.

Can I also add, I would never normally do something like this - it was because my boss sent it to me!

Sorry Kim I'm no expert.... I've just been reading the links re advice on what to do if you think you've been infected including suggestion you change your passwords /log on details on a different device if you think you've been infected

Are you sure your boss sent it to you ? The link you have provided suggests it appears to be from someone in your contacts ... friends/family members ... but is in fact fake.

I actually had the same message at the weekend from a friend on WhatsApp. I just deleted it thankfully and told her that she may have been hacked.

So have I got tracking or spyware on my iPhone?

If I change my passwords won't it know in that case?

I've never been a victim of cyber crime (I honestly can't believe I opened that!!!), are we covered by the banks if our accounts are hacked? PayPal?
