O/S Daily Tuesday 25 October 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still dark, but dry underfoot but air feels chilly. Load in WM that will go out on the line before I leave for work. Load got almost dry on the line yesterday.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS2 now getting ready for work. DS2 probably freezing his bits off in a tent doing his NCS, he'll be home later this afternoon, I've said for him to text me once he's back at the pick up point and I'll go and collect him, (he should arrive back as I finish work so I can detour round to collect him, that's the plan anyway!)

Dinner last night was egg, gammon, sausages, hash browns, mushrooms and beans, tonight I've menu planned fish, chips/jacket potato and beans/veg, not the best planning on my part but I'm sure it will be fine.

Work yesterday was one of those days' where it was either dead or manic, so don't know what today will bring, I had a slightly later lunch and then was dealing with customers etc, looked at my watch and it was 3.15pm, don't know where the afternoon went!

Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Not sure what the weather's up to this morning, it's pitch black outside.
Washing on the airer from last night, folded what was dry and put it away/gave it back to DS2.

Went to DDs after work with DS2 and GF, we made fajitas for tea and had a good chat, they like how DD has decorated and settled in. Felt really tired when I got in, probably the shock of going back to work after a week off!

I'll have an empty house tonight as DS2 and GF are off back to The Netherlands, it's been good to see them enjoy themselves. Not sure when I'll see them again as they are off to India in the middle of December for 3 weeks.

Hugs to all not feeling too good, thinking of you Lainey and hilstep. Take care everyone. XX

Thanks nmlc for starting us off.
Thank you all for your kind wishes. No news about FIL overnight. He has developed bronchial infection and is on a machine to clean his blood and a feeding tube as well as a machine to breath for him. All we can do is wait. As you can imagine not a lot of sleep went on here last night so DH and myself are like zombies. When I did drop off all I did was dream about him going.
DH has gone to work to keep busy and I am going to do the same. We would be there but have been told not to as he is non responsive and his db doesn't want us to see him like he is.
Once again thank you for your kind thoughts.
    Anyhoo time to get on
Hugs to all in need xx
    Bright Blessings xx

    Morning everyone.

Even though it's still pitch dark outside the sky is cloudless and full of bright twinkling stars. I'm lying in bed just looking at them, it's a beautiful start to my day. There's an upside to the ongoing internal debate about net curtains and not having any 'street' lights.

My day hasn't started yet so I'll lie here a bit longer.

Thinking about LWW and Lainey especially.

    Happy Tuesday to all.
  • Morning folks and thanks for the thread NMLC.

It's a decent forecast for the day with some sunshine so we are having a day out. It's ages since I had a browse of the abundance of charity shops in Otley so that's where we are heading. As a bonus we now have a direct bus service there too - well once we get down into town that is! Mr TA will leave me to my browsing and get holed up with a coffee and newspaper. Then we'll meet up for a late lunch in 'Spoons, probably for a Steak Day meal.

All the bedding got ironed and beds re-made yesterday and the house is back to normal after our lodger and all his belongings for a month! I'm by no means a slave to the house and forever cleaning, but I do like the place tidy!

Have a good day and (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed. Thinking of LAINEY and now LWW in particular. Plus anyone else in need. Take care all xxx

    Morning all,

LWW thinking of you all I hope its an easy passing when the time comes xx

We had a terrible night last night, OH took Evie over the fields for her walk and there were some young kids over there who set a fire work off as they passed them it was one of those 'screaming' ones, Evie was terrified and was off like a shot, OH chased her but lost her, he came running home to get help and we all went out looking and calling, my sister came over too to help, we had the cars out as well, we searched for four hours in the pouring rain, I came home to change my boots and was standing out the front of the house when I felt two little paws jumping up at me it was her soaked to the skin and terrified.

I got her in and wrapped her in a towel and dried her off she was so scared and starving, she had been missing for hours, thank god she was ok, she got on dd's bed last night and did not move all night !

Off to work for me and dd, I have prepared tonight's dinner pie mash and carrots it will just need shoving in when we get back.

    Have good days all xx

Oh REDRUBY I am living every moment of your ordeal with you. Almost exactly the same happened to us many years ago when our, then, Border Collie youngster took off in fear from a walk on the moors. We were all out looking and shouting for hours in the dark and we eventually found her back home cowered behind the bins, shaking like a leaf. I remember the relief even now, so many years later xx

    Morning everyone,

Oh Redruby how scary for little Evie and you! Thank goodness the poppet had the sense to make her way home, bloomin fireworks :(
LWW can only echo what others have said and hope that FIL's passing is gentle, will be thinking of you x

Misty and cold here but just seen the forecast and it's meant to warm up again tomorrow, am changing the bed today and was going to put the brushed cotton fitted sheet on but will keep powder dry until it gets colder again.

Yesterday's meeting with the hospice lady went well, some more plans were put in place as the care just doesn't seem to be available in DM's home county, all I can say is hope that we do get the support we have been promised when the time comes.

Will pop off to see her later but need to catch up on chores etc, especially the mountain of ironing, missed the Archers omnibus on Sunday so will download that and listen while I iron.

Loved your description of lying in bed looking at the stars Gers what a lovely start to your day x

Have a good day everyone, enjoy the CS's TA, take care folks x

At least its sunny which is nice.I am going to dig out a thick scarf as well as some gloves asI don't want to get a chill.

  • Good morning chums,

Chilly this morning, which reminds me I need to buy de-icer for when it comes.

Yesterday after work I played football for the first time since December with work colleagues. I was a bit rusty to say the least however it was good fun to meet other staff from different departments. I came home to a healthy dinner and fairly relaxed night.

Woke up the beginnings of a cold sore smack bang in the middle of my bottom lip. Fantastic :(

Tonight should be a busy one. I'll visit the gym then I'll dash home quickly for FIFA Tuesdays which I always look forward to. Not terribly productive, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Gers - that does sound a like a lovely sight to wake to.
Ruby - aw that's such a same. Delighted that you're reunited though.
Jackie - enjoy your tip and quiz.
