Meat loaf mountain
Have a huge roasting tray of meat loaf which was cooked yesterday but surplus to requirements for a charity event which we need to use up. It's currently cut into big chunks and stored in the freezer. Need some interesting and hopefully tasty recipes for using it up please as I find the flavour rather dreary on its own.

Brexit grocery bill inflation
Following the recent "Marmite" fuss with UK manufactured food products being threatened with large price increases, what overseas produced food products , if any, will you be stocking up with to protect yourself against price inflation? Wine will obviously be on our shopping list, as will supplies of Olive oil althiugh I…

In which I prepare for the care
OH and I took the bold step yesterday of putting DDad's name on the waiting list of a care home. In the mean time we have booked him in for 3 weekends of respite care and 2 days a week day care. The day care alone will be over £500 a month. In preparation for the big fulltime care home fees we are going to tighten our…

Gourds/ Squashes
Last year I decided I'd like to carve some of the more unusual squashes/gourds for Halloween. I saw some in Sainsburys last year, which is where I got the idea. I haven't seen any at all this year, except at Abel and Cole and I've missed their delivery. Has anyone else seen any about? I thought they would look great carved…

Crazy paving and frosty mornings
...are a bad combination! Any tried and tested OS ideas on how to make them less slippery, other than grit salt? Ditto wet weather.

Dehumidifier recommendations?
Hi All Thinking of investing in a dehumidifier - old house + high ceilings mean more chance of trapped condensation lol. I keep the house well-aired; it has no damp probs and ! don't keep wet clothes on radiators (I have an airing cupboard in the bathroom). I'm thinking of one from https://www.ebac.com/dehumidifiers/shop…

Sponge pudding question
Sorry if this seems obvious but I've not made them before. I'm wanting to make some individual sponge puddings to put in the freezer then zap in the microwave when needed. Cook, freeze and reheat, or freeze the mixture raw? Thanks.

Yorkshire puddings
Argh - why oh why can I make 101 things I couldn't make when I was a student, but cannot turn out a yorkshire pud these days when I could before. They either stay as flat as a pancake or look like a fairy cake. I've tried a 4 hole yorkshire pan, and a cupcake tray. I have the oil hot and smoking and yet still they don't…

Half-pay pud in a pressure cooker?
One of our delights is to push the boat out every now and then in colder weather and make a yummy half-pay pud. Just in case it's called something else in your neck of the woods, this is 2oz flour, 3oz breadcrumbs, 2 oz butter, 2oz sultanas and a chopped up apple mixed together with baking powder and a tbsp of Golden Syrup…

Non Iron Shirts
Wasn't sure which board to put this in, this looks the best fit, apols if i'm wrong. I hate ironing with a firey passion, we do however (for our family of 6) have a family upright steamer, and just waft the wand over items needed as they are needed, most of the family are happy with this method and nobody gets bogged down…

Chutney help - which vinegar?
I have just made my first ever chutney - BBC Good Food Spiced Apple Chutney. Only did half the recipe in case I messed up, so I have one jar ready for Christmas! I now have caught the bug and want to make some more, but cant be bothered to go to the shop for more vinegar. I have about 50ml of brown malt vinegar, 100ml of…

Chimenea / Fire Pit?
Can anyone advise on these? I like the idea of being able to sit out in the garden when the weather is colder without having to venture into the muddy bit where we have bonfires. Is there a low cost alternative? Otherwise; metal - (it rusts) or ceramic (it breaks) Any hints? Thanks.
