O/S Daily Saturday 22 October 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, wet underfoot as we've had rain during the night, although it's not raining now. Air still quite chilly.
DH and myself up enjoying first cuppas and I've had a small bowl of porridge. Both boys still in their pits, DS1 went out last night and rolled in at 3am with a kebab and chips tucked under his arm, which he sat and ate whilst watching tv until 3.30am ish - he won't be about much before lunch time I don't imagine. Although DH and myself are going out for the day - our friends are coming here, they will leave their car here and DH will drive us all to the caravan meeting, we're stopping en route to get a meal, it's an awkward time and 1 of our friends is a diabetic so we always take that into consideration when we plan travel/days' out.
I have planned a meal for tonight - salad, hot quiche, scotch eggs, ham, hot new potatoes, pasta salad/coleslaw - if we decide on something else then this will become a meal for another night.
Yesterday ended up a running around day - got to the SM early and got the food shopping done early and thought I was on a roll with getting jobs done - the plan was to then help DS2 get his bags packed for going away on Monday - so we didn't leave it until Sunday and discover there was something he needed and didn't have - we managed to get as much packed as possible, although we then discovered he needed another pair of warm trackie/jogging bottoms that wouldn't matter if they got wet and muddy - he just didn't have anything suitable and there was nothing I could utilise from DH's or DS1's clothes, so we went to the big sports store and managed after quite a lot of searching some jogging bottoms 2 for £15 one pair being black, so hopefully if they do get wet and muddy they still wash up ok and be wearable if only to laze about in at home, everything then packed but it was a bit of a game of tetris to get everything in, but we did it. He's camping for 1 night, I don't envy him, it's a bit too cold for me to be camping nowadays, think I must be going soft in my old age!
Have good Saturdays' everyone x

Morning everyone.
Light is just about drifting into the sky. I've been awake for ages, lying in bed reading.
I'd forgotten how warm a centrally heated house can be, not used to it at all. Mum has her place hot all the time so I'm sweltering. I keep the spare room cold so coming into the rest of the house is a shock. My place has no mains gas which makes a huge difference.
Today we are going supermarket shopping, taking piles of stuff to the tip and other piles of stuff to charity shops. I'm going home with some lovely 1950s flatware which my parents bought just after their marriage in 1947. It's silver plated WFM, though just the low grade 20 plating, but is so evocative of my childhood. I've found a company in Sheffield which replates flatware so some may be going there.
Apart from trekking round the west end of Glasgow I have no other plans. I'd like to go home today but need to spend a bit more time with Mum so will get back tomorrow.
No other news - no washing or housework!
I hope everyone has a good Saturday.0 -
Morning All
Bright and dry here, washing will go out soon. DW to go on when I've finished my morning tea.
I'm walking down to Aldi this morning for supplies then have to borrow friends car again to collect some more driveway sealant, one tin didn't go very far! Hopefully it will stay dry to get that finished.
DS2 and gf should be coming back here today to drop my car off, then they are off to Edinburgh for a couple of days. They are meeting up with DD and her bf, I may be detailed to take them to Glasgow.
Hoping you all have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone,
Beautiful morning here, cold and bright but with a low mist hanging over the fields.
The dogs obviously fancied a lie-in as didn't stir until 7.30 so they have just gone in the garden for their ablutions and we will take them for a walk after breakfast, just enjoying my lemon tea and DOH has the cricket on.
Took Mum down to the local surgery yesterday for a blood test, the receptionist messed up a bit and didn't book us in so we sat for over half an hour before I queried it, they are usually very good so no matter. DM fancied a little walk so did just that afterwards, nice for her to get some fresh air and we met a darling dog who was refusing to walk any further with its owner :rotfl:
My DB is taking her for a drive today to visit some old haunts, he misses out on a lot with working all week so will be great for them to have time together. I will visit my lovely horse and catch up on chores.
Another one here Gers who struggles with overheated houses, our cottage has a lot of radiators but many of them stayed switched off including the one in our bedroom, find with just the little one in the ensuite on its fine, like a cool bedroom but warm bathroom
Poor OH has an eye infection and the drops we picked up from the chemist yesterday don't seem to be helping, will give it today and if no better will get to the pharmacy tomorrow.
Have a good Saturday everyone, take care folks x0 -
Morning folks. It's a bit miserable looking out there but no rain forecast.
We got all DS's stuff transported to his new apartment yesterday. It involved quite a few trips as expected. It was tiring work and we finally left him unpacking late afternoon.
We'd had an upsetting start to the day, thanks to DS's psycho ex. She had posted a very abusive response through the night to a photo DD had put on Facebook the day before. Needless to say DD has now blocked her but the damage had been done. I feel we will never be free of her and her abuse and it upsets me so much. What DS ever saw in her I don't know.
I had a poor night yet again last night and don't feel a bit like tackling all the jobs I had lined up for the next few days. DD and the 3 girls went to the caravan yesterday for a final stay before we start closing down, staying till Thursday. Now I just can't be ar*ed.
Must make the effort to go food shopping this morning as the fridge is bare and stocks of fruit and veg are low too.
Have a good day all and (((HUGS))) to all in need. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
I've been up since 6 when I let the dog out, he promptly went upstairs and got in to bed with my L&M!
The fish have been fed, I'll do breakfast next and then we will go to DD1, all her doors need shaving with a plane, but it won't let me type plane-ing, on the bottom and her cooker needs wiring in, she moved in on Thursday and has had 2 extra children since then as a friend of hers has been admitted to hospital, so that is 8 kids and 2 dogs.
There are pics of my doggy guest on my blog and on FB if anyone wants to see him. His favourite thing seems to be sitting on someone's knee under a quilt.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all x
Not been on for a few days as I have had a few turns. I can cope with the pain but not the dizziness . Last night I went dizzy as i went through a door and ended up smacking my shoulder and arm hard on the door frame so now sporting a lovely bruise. Won't let it beat me though.
Dinner last night was a takeaway pizza (mainly due to the shoulder incident) and tonight DH has decided we are having a date night. Been a while since we did so off for a meal somewhere and the pictures for a film. Really looking forward to it.
DW is on and will put WM on after.
Been trying to find somewhere that I can wash our duvets but have not found any launderettes near me. If I have to pay out for a dry cleaners I might as well just buy another one.
Need to do some food shopping today as the fridge and freezer are getting bare.
Anyhoo better get on.
Hugs to all in need xxBright Blessings xx0 -
Good morning chums ,sun is out and shining although its a bit chilly.
I have a baking morning ahead today as next week being half term it means the boys will need lots of Grannie's cakes and biscuits.
Eldest DD is coming for coffee this morning asher OH is going to football at West Ham and she is getting her nails done locally to me.I think they may be closing down their caravan for the winter tomorrow. So I have prepped the coffee pot ready for her
I also have a little bit of ironing to do from yesterdays washing ,then it will be feet up and knitting on the go as I started a new charity blankey last night.
Apart from that not a lot really.Hope you all have a good weekend what ever you are doing
Cheers chums

Morning all,
Nice bright day here got a load on the line and another in the wm, busy day today as its dd's graduation tomorrow and we have a houseful afterwards so today we need to have a big clear through the house and load the car up with some rubbish from the garden, we then need to take that to the tip and get some bits of shopping in to feed them.
We have to be at the graduation at 7.30 tomorrow morning to collect the gown etc and then the actual service starts at 9.30. I am so excited and will be proud fit to burst !
Anyway better get on hope you all have a great weekend xx0 -
Hester I've just visited your blog; that is one really gorgeous Staffy!
I'm feeling a little subdued today; took quite a nasty fall this morning, and my leg is all bruised now, and I'm somewhat shaken up. So taking it steady for the rest of the day, methinks. Thankfully nothing broken, though, so that's a good thing. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hello All
Hugs/positivity, Lemsips, arnica cream and xxxxx's to all who want them. Lovely to share everyones good news. To those in a dark place, keep going - I know you're probably tired of it, but keep on slogging xxxx
Got a diagnosis from consultant (after 6 years of looking). Waiting for bespoke physio/training programme which will hopefully go some way to sorting things out. Am gobsmacked - all still sinking in. Also looking forward to sharing my news with anyone who ever doubted that I was ill in the first place LMAO
Have a fab weekend and be kind to yourselves xx2022 | Back to the fold - need a Money Saving mojo reboot!
