O/S Daily Wednesday 19 October 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those who want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still dark, but windy and chilly.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg for the menfolk, I had the fish pie, I found in the freezer and veg. Dinner was a bit late due to hairdresser being here, but everyone tidied up. I remembered to get the beef out to defrost for beef casserole that I'm going to leave in the slow cooker whilst I'm at work all day, hoping we won't have a power cut - we had one yesterday. I'll do mash and veg with it, possibly some dumplings - menfolk will be happy with that.

Work yesterday wasn't so busy but it the weather here was awful, really heavy rain for quite a while but then got out sunny, but with a cold wind that we still have now. I'm working all day as this afternoon I'm doing extra hours and I have my meeting today with the Manager about the restructure that will take effect from 1 April 17 - hoping I can at least keep to my same hours and days without losing any more, we'll see.

Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks for starting NMLC. At the risk of sounding like a stuck record I have just had yet another bad night's sleep. I am getting up earlier and earlier and wish I could break the habit.

DS's black freezer is getting delivered today, anytime between 7.00 am and 7 pm! A space in the hall is already earmarked for it! He's still not got a moving in date for his apartment. Meanwhile more "stuff" is appearing daily! Message from the toxic ex to tell him he had left some things and would he collect them! It seems she doesn't want any reminders of their 7 years together and there was a real bizarre mix awaiting him. Most of it went to the tip!

It's middle DGD's 8th birthday today and we are all going to a lovely Italian restaurant in town this evening. She had a party for her friends early so this is just for family. Looking forward to it.

I have a big pot of Bolognese simmering away to do Spag Bol for DS before he goes to work at lunchtime. I have used my last pack of mince so must remember to re-stock freezer when we can fit a shopping trip in.

Have a good day and (((HUGS))) to all the poorlies, worried and stressed. Thinking of LAINEY and her DM especially. Take care all xx

Edited to add I have just remembered that the 3 girls are coming home with us after the meal tonight. DD is on an early start tomorrow so it's sleepover and school run tomorrow!

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Well I say Good Morning but not for me as I have just been yelled at by my 15 year old as there is no milk for her cereal. Considering that she is the one who drinks it all it was rather unreasonable of her. Still I won't take it to heart and she can just go and b*gger off. Anyway, it's far too early for these type of shenanigans....or to try and spell shenanigans shennanigans shenanniggans none of them look right :rotfl::rotfl:.

Hubby has gone off to work under a big black cloud as he is being called to a meeting tomorrow to discuss his absences from work while he was ill with one of the possible outcomes as dismissal. I am panicking a bit about it as he would find it very difficult to get another job at his age and after being fired. I just have to hope and pray the company realises that he was genuinely ill. It's unfair as he has never been late and very rarely takes any time off because he is unwell. It just seems very heavy handed of them.

I have my friend coming over today and have booked a little shop from Asda to come at lunchtime so there will be something to feed her with. I am cooking posh sausages for tea with baked potatoes and beans / cheese. I love this as I can just throw it into the oven and forget about them for a while.

Well that's all my rubbish for now, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning all,

Brrr cold here this morning the heating will have to go on soon, it took me ages to get to sleep because it was so cold.

Back to work today but at least its a three day week so should fly past, new boss is off for two days so things should be calmer she does tend to make things more stressful !

Did more xmas shopping yesterday I am very nearly done I just need to get my dd some more stocking fillers and my parents in law a small gift from evie (to say thank you for looking after her) then im done, Im going to sit and wrap it on my next day off, which is the job I most hate so would be good to get it done out of the way.

Something with mince for dinner either spag bol or chilli will see how we feel tonight.

Right better get on have good days all xx
  • Morning all, cold and dark. Hopefully it will be a sunny day - yesterday started with heavy rain but then brightened up, perhaps we will have sun again today.

I've woken with a pain in my head, not a headache, feels as though I've hit my head on something but I m sure I woukd have noticed. Hopefully that will wear off, well it will have to as busy day ahead.

Must get going, hope everyone has a good day

    Morning everyone,

Cold and cloudy here, didn't sleep well and have bad sinus pain so not the best start to the day am afraid.
Am aiming to spend the morning with Billy as haven't seen much of him over the last few days, after chatting to my friend last week have decided to delay the re-start to his ridden career. He will need a consistent routine exercise wise and I just can't manage that at the moment so will delay until next Spring.
Will pop over to see Mum after lunch, she texted last night to say how tired but happy she was, will take that.

Have a good day everyone, take care folks x

    Hi All

Oh my goodness - I hope everyone gets some peace from their hormonal-hell teens, workplace stress and mystery aches and pains. It is supposed to be sunny later (I hope so as I have a load of washing to hang) - so let's hope it makes us all feel better.

Seeing a consultant tomorrow and anticipating test results (eeek) - not that I'm expecting anything bad, just dreading the usual 'normal' outcome. Or even worse, let's wait and see (had nearly 6 years of that and blood tests galore lol). I'll shut up now:rotfl:

Hugs/positivity and xxxxx's to all who want them. To those in a dark place, you know what I'm going to say - keep going - you're probably well sick and tired of it, but keep on OK? xxxx

    Have a beautiful Wednesday folks

p.s. you all look spectacular and gorgeous today - wow! xx

  • Good morning everyone,

Cold this morning, surprised there wasn't frost.

Yesterday evening I went to see my best friends new baby twins. Tiny wee things, both in good health. They just slept in my arms the full time. Discussions were made on the stag doo so I need to make a few enquiries as I think we're going to a football game in Manchester.

I came home and made the mixture for a sticky toffee pudding, ready to pop in the oven. I also made a toffee sauce which I'll just reheat. When I go in tonight, i'll make my own custard too and take that. The 'come dine with me' style night is tonight at 7.30 so I should have plenty of time and all the ingredients are in so no need to go to a shop.

TA - Between 7 and 7? So anytime then hahaha.
Dumpling - Fingers crossed for your DH today.

Last night our team came second in the pub quiz so another bottle of vino for the team stash We have 5 bottles so far, so a few more wins fingers crossed will give us all a bottle apiece before Christmas. We save them all up until there is enough for each of us.
Yesterday afternoons beetle drive was really good fun, and lots of laughter and joking went on :) and the coffee morning was interesting as well all three events to happen on the same day was a bit exhausting and I was running around all day but today I shall take it easy and later on be going to get a small shop of fruit and veg as a top up.

Lainey sounds like your Mum had a happy day yesterday, treasure these honey to get you through xx

    Morning All

The sun is shining and the washing is chugging away. Not much to do in the way of housework so planning a relaxing day.

Aberdeen was lovely, the beach is impressive and although it wasn't particularly cold or windy the sea was really rough with waves crashing over the wall onto the prom. Hotel was good, a short bus ride away from the city. We managed a swim Monday evening and the same again before breakfast yesterday. Breakfast was amazing, didn't really eat anything else all day, although a refreshment was taken on the train home!

Hoping DS2's tent dries today, it's spread out in the conservatory at the moment. Hopefully the sun will shine long enough to get it dry.

I have to go across the road to friends to feed their rabbits in a bit - I have the use of one of their cars this week as they are away but they don't seem to have left a key. May have to text them!

Have a good day. Take care. XX
