O/S Daily Wednesday 26 October 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still dark, dry underfoot but air was chilly yesterday, forecast says warming up again over the next few days - we'll see. Washing to go out on the line, will do that shortly.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work, DS2 still in his pit, I will wake him shortly so he can get a shower and breakfast before heading into college. He had a great time away, and was full of it when he got home yesterday.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg. Tonight will be hot quiche, hot breaded chicken pieces, herby new potatoes, side salad, coleslaw/pasta salad.

Yesterday work started off dead but then got busier, and was manic for a while, I'm working all day today, as have the extra hours this afternoon.

I have found a roasted sweet potato and carrot soup recipe I'm going to try - as I have sweet potatoes in the fridge that need using up, I bought them whilst on offer and no-one else in the family likes them, so why did I buy them? I also have a swede but that I'll prep, cook and eat as an additional veg for me. Trying to be very good with my food intake, as I'd like to lose some more weight and over the summer have put on a few pounds, and I definitely don't want to go back to where I was, so it's a case of doing something about it now before it get's out of hand, I know I've been eating things I hadn't been, portion size has become bigger, so just need to cut all that back again.

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC for starting off again.

We had a nice day out yesterday in Otley but I wasn't tempted by anything the many cs's had to offer. I didn't even succumb to any books in the Lions Bookshop either, which is a first! Picked up a few toiletries in Yorkshire Trading and that was it! But we enjoyed a nice Steak Day lunch and that was the main thing!

I am gallivanting today as well! Off on the bus to Skipton with my friend for a browse of the market stalls, cs and, of course, lunch in the Red Lion as usual. We'll share a bottle of wine and put the world to rights as we always do! With one thing and another it seems ages since our last day out together and we are both looking forward to it.

Mr TA will enjoy his day of peace I'm sure! His lunch will be the big bowl of chicken broth which wasn't needed yesterday! He just needs to pop it in the microwave.

Have a nice day and (((HUGS))) to the poorlies and worried, especially LAINEY and LWW. Take care all xxx

    Morning all,

Cold and dark here and off to work for me, Im at the quiet site this week which is very boring as its so quiet ! but its nice not to be busy for a change.

Off to mums for dinner tonight I think she is doing roast chicken which will be really nice.

Little Evie seems to be really nervous after her adventure, OH took her out last night but just round the roads and she was very wary, poor little girl I do hope she gets over it as she was such an adventurous girl and she did not mind fireworks at all, If I ever get my hands on those kids though  I honestly believe that fireworks should only be sold to organised displays, firework night goes on for a good six weeks here !

Need to do a wash tonight, will put the dw on before work and empty that tonight too.

Have good days all and hugs to Lainey and LWW xx
  • Morning all and thank you nmlc for starting today's thread.

I'll be heading off to work in a minute, trying to shorten my day a bit as I may need to work into the evening and am already in trouble for carrying too much extra time.

Last night's dinner was meatloaf with a potato gratin and cabbage, DS also had a piece of chicken in barbecue sauce and a vast bowl of salad. OH can cook tonight for them and I'll make a snack when I get back.

I have a very sparkly bathroom, let's see how long that lasts -not long I think. All hoovering done and already needs doing again, I despair sometimes. Might as well just live in a hut with muddy boots.

Better get wiggling, hope everyone has as good a day as possible.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning folks.

Too much cloud this morning so can't see any stars.

Yesterday I found out that grating mozerella cheese is a painful, joyless and stupid thing to do! Not doing that ever again. Luckily the tortilla bake was lovely though I think I put it together wrong.

I rewarded myself by booking tickets for Dr Strange on Sunday, I've chosen the matinee session so I'm not driving home from Oban in the dark.

I'm sure today will see me doing more marking ready for tomorrow morning. Fridge is full of food so it'll be the bake and ratatouille today.

Thoughts go out to those having a tough time.

    Happy Wednesday everyone.

    Morning All

Slept in a bit today so playing catch up. DS2 and GF have gone back, left the house clean and tidy which was nice - even stripped the bed.

Went to pick up a parcel from Sainsburys after work then got caught in the most horrendous traffic - took me 40 mins to do a mile. Builder called round re the kitchen, I think it is being delivered at the weekend but will have to be stored in the conservatory until he can fit it.

Hope little Evie recovers quickly, wish fireworks would be banned too (unless for public displays on 5th Nov).

Wishing you all a good day, take care. XX

    Morning everyone,

Thick fog and bbrr cold here, hope it clears up before have to drive. Bad night sleep wise so could do without that!

Have plans to go over and see Mum this morning, she has had a busy few days so is having a quiet day with no visitors etc, apart from me of course :)

Other than that not loads of plans, would like to drop into Boots at some point as believe their beauty advent calendar goes on sale today, I do like their No7 range and you get nearly £160 worth of stuff for £40 :money:
Oh and the final of GBBO of course.

  • Morning all,

Say this time every year, but it's getting really dark in the mornings now.

Yesterday was a NSD (woohoo!) and a very enjoyable evening. Not much to report to be honest.

Today is a long day at work as it's event day. I'll probably not be finished till closer to 9pm. Hey ho. Means I'll get another NSD.

Tomorrow is payday and there's a few xmas presents I'm desperate to buy to get them off my mind, I'll feel better after that.

TA - Enjoy your day and wine.

    Good morning everyone

It's a bright and dry morning here, I am just sat with a cuppa waiting for my grsndchildren to burst through the door :D.

DD13 is up and sat next to me on the computer but the others are still fast asleep. Hubby left for work in slightly less of a grump but he is finding it hard going to work in the dark and coming home whilst it's dark too. He has another hospital test next month on his birthday as well :(. I think I will go with him this time and then afterwards I will treat him to a nice steak dinner.

I am going to make a sausage and lentil stew for tea tonight if I get time. The girls want to walk to Tesco and get some pumpkins to carve so that is what they can do when they get up. They can get me a nice crusty loaf as well to go with the stew.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • Morning, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

I am still in bed, slept in, OH did not wake me when he got up.

Freezer audit and shopping list to do today, ready for tomorrow.

It a bright morning, better than yesterday, the mist did not clear till after lunch, laundry dried in the dryer. I also ironed the bed linen from Monday.

No other plans for the day, guess OH will be out in the garden at some point. Supper tonight eggs and wedges.
