Toasters!
My trusty toaster has given up the ghost and finding a replacement is a nightmare. I have a much loved Panasonic 2501 bread maker am finding it impossible to locate a toaster that can handle the height or width of even smallest loaf size. Lots claim to toast think slices but the height seems to be an issue. Can any of you…

Any "embarrassing" money saving things you do?
There's probably dozens of threads for this but can't see one with a quick look. I'm a singleton money saver/scrimper/cheapskate and was just sitting here thinking I couldn't ever possibly live with anyone again otherwise my money saving would go out of the window :) What do you count as embarrassing/something you wouldn't…

Bananas and Pop Tarts
Hello :) Good Afternoon. Hope the day is finding you good. I have a lot of bananas going bad, I asked on a FB group yesterday what to do with them and got a good recipe of mashed bananas mixed with oats (we also added some chopped up leftover easter chocolate) and baked in the oven. I didn't think much of them but my 3…

Saturday Kitchen casserole dishes
I'm watching Saturday Kitchen and I love their blue/green rectangular casserole dishes. Does anyone know where they're from? They look like le creuset but I can't find them. :)

Healthy eating ideas
After an extended period of utter skintness last year (and most of this), we imported a lodger at Christmas and, whilst things are still very tight as OH hasn't had any work for a while, we've cleared £2000 of debt and we're up to date with the bills - the bank accounts have even been in credit the week before I get paid.…

Slow Cooker Help
Our cooker has broken so we can't use it at the moment. We have a slow cooker, but we don't have a microwave. Does anyone know what I can make in the slow cooker without using the hob? I've already made a lentil stew, and a lentil and chickpea curry. The only recipes I can find online need to fry onions and veggies on the…

Family of 5 - our meals have just got too complicated!
Sooo, I think I need to figure out how to simplify things a bit, use up some stashed food (the freezer really needs defrosting!) and save some cash. There are 5 of us - me, DH, and 3 DCs. * Me, DH, and 1 DC are veggie. The youngest is not officially veggie but isn't keen on meat, except ham. The oldest loves meat. * DH…

How to get more greens into my diet?
I'm always low on iron and although I can (and do at times) take iron pills, I would like to try eating more greens. I like steamed broccoli and green beans, cabbage in colcannon is nice too but that's about all I do. I did try adding cabbage to a soup one time but it made it taste bitter :( Can anyone suggest other ways…
