Nigella has a recipe for using it up

But to be honest having tried the recipe once, it just contaminated perfectly good other ingredients and tasted utterly disgusting! I can't think of anything which the stock would taste good in, though the ham itself cooked this way is lovely.0 -
I would normally put chopped carrot, onion and celery in the base of the SC, sit the gammon on top, half fill with water and cook.
At the end of cooking, simply remove the gammon, whizz the remaining ingredients and you have a wonderful soup. I used to always make minestrone soup for my Dad, after cooking a gammon joint, but I'd be a bit wary due to the sugar and chinese spice mix.
Only thing that I can think of is boil the liquid until greatly reduced and use as a marinade for something like chicken. You can always freeze the reduced liquid until you are ready to use it.0 -

I think I'd try some white beans and chopped veggies such as chopped onion, carrot, celery. This sounds like a liquid we would use for Deep South Baked beans (except for the five spice powder). https://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/cola-baked-beans
Since you have a lot of liquid left, dry beans soaked over night in it would help take up some of the liquid and then cook in the crock pot the next day.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

As I have to follow a low salt diet, I often have to bite my tongue about the salt content in food, as not everyone has to eat the way I do.
But you said exactly what I was thinking!Early retired - 18th December 2014
