O/S Daily Thread for Wednesday 27th April 2016

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning All

The decision has been made, hubby and I will be putting the house on the market, we will be downsizing.

I'm starting to declutter, we will be looking for a one bed flat, so we'll be trying to squeeze a quart into a pint pot.

Hubby will be giving up his beloved garden, I will be giving up my crafts, it's a shame but needs must.

We had 5 seconds of snow yesterday, it was over before it had started, let's hope spring will now arrive.

I'm going to do another hours decluttering before work.

Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone.

Thanks for the thread HH - and what news, it sounds drastic but also good. Health and well-being are most important. I wish you luck in the house sale.

I'm awake because of the hard uncomfortable single bed, and I've tried all three, now given up the attempts. I'm just contemplating whether I can try to creep downstairs in search of a cup of tea.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

I managed nearly a whole night's sleep so I feel great this morning, it's surprising how sleep deprivation colours your day. When I am over tired I am just like a giant toddler with proper crying over silly little things :o:o. Today is going to be a good day though, I feel it in my bones :D:D.

My eldest daughter is coming over to see me after the school run for a coffee and catch up. We chatted a while on the phone last night but I miss seeing her. She is just so busy at the moment with work and family life that it's hard to fit things in. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to hearing about her wedding plans.

I made beef bolognese bake yesterday which was lovely and I have a portion left over for my lunch. I am going to make spicy orange chicken for tea with rice and broccoli. It's a new recipe to me so I hope it works ok.

Hester, I hope you have some peace of mind now you have decided to downsize. I also hope you find somewhere nice to live and your house sells quickly for you. Good luck with the decluttering and sorting out.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Oh Hester. I am so sad to hear this. What has happened to make you decide to take this radical step?

Is it s combination of your work and your Hubby's work problems dragging you down?

What are your plans for the future apart from downsizing?

    Morning all,

Sleepless night for me. I'm fretting about hubby quitting his job. According to our Son they are trying to persuade him to stay. We had a row yesterday morning by phone which didnt help so it stands a chance I'll be blamed for him quitting.

Oh well, I'm off to make a drink.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

Morning all, glad you had a better night Dumpling.
Hester, that must have been a tough decision.
I must get my a*se in gear and go and earn our living.
It is freezing, more sleet yesterday and a frost this morning.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Good morning,

Hester I am so sorry to hear your news, but if it means sanity and health for both you and your L&M then it is for the best.

It is such a big decision, you must have given it a lot of thought, and I wish you well on your next journey.

I know we all have too many possessions, and I have been decluttering for some time now. Himself likes to keep things but I pointed out to him there will come a time when our family might have to sort it for us, so best that we do it ourselves.

I hope now you have made the decision you can find some peace of mind.

Much love to you and your L&M

    Morning All

HH - Sorry you have to downsize but only you and the L&M know what's best for you.
Gers - It's going to be a long week!

Lovely morning again, but cold. I'm in danger of having to water some plants in the garden!

Set myself an hour of doing 'something' last night which was stripping wallpaper. Not sure why I'm bothering as I think the walls will have to come off in the kitchen too. Nothing has been simple in this house!

Another busy day at work ahead. Take care. XX
  • Judi ,

Your life doesn't get any easier does it? I hope you make it up with your husband today and perhaps you can have a long talk together and find out what he really wants to do, and whether you would be prepared to go along with it.

    Sending you hugs

    Morning everyone

HH - thanks for starting us off, hoping that your decision makes your life easier and more contented x

Hugs to those that need/want them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Now light, blue sky and some sun trying to shine, but the heating has been kicking in during the night, so it's cold although not quite a frost. We had a heavy downpour of sleety snow yesterday too, again only for a few minutes then the sun shone on and off. I'd left a line of washing on out and it was dry when I got home.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, I had salmon, jacket potato and veg. Tonight was going to be pork but I didn't get it out of the freezer to defrost. We had not such good news from the hospital yesterday, ill person was seen by consultant and asked to decide which of 3 options did they want to take - those being, being sent home, moving to a hospice or moving into an individual person room - ill person chose to move to an individual room, consultant also advised it's going to be days - so DH wants to go tonight unless there's any major changes/reasons why we can't. Dinner will be whatever whenever. I do have a small cooked ham joint that I can slice up, so we'd have ham, egg and chips - we'll see how it goes.

Work yesterday went a bit bonkers, loads of customers all at once for a large part of the day, but we got there eventually and still had people coming in at 3.59pm when we close at 4pm. The day flew past though, and hoping today will be the same.

    Keep safe and well x

Hester: what ever makes you and OH have an easier life
Gers: you sound like Goldilocks changing beds :):):)
Dumpling:great that you are feeling so positive keep up the good work you are doing so well

Morning all, well sun is up and shining, but its still cold ,where O where is our lovely spring weather ? Yesterday we had at various times sun, snow, rain hail coupled with wind ! My cold is still hanging around and I am getting more than a bit cheesed off with it.

This morning I have a sociology class at 10.00 then a dentist appointment virtually straight afterwards. He's just got to finish of the filling from a month ago

Then it will be home and a bit of housework as my house is in need of a good dusting. Another month has whizzed by and its almost May, one more and we are halfway through the year.I'm sure time speeds up as one gets older :):):)
Hope everyone has a good day and keeps warm and well

    Cheers JackieO xx
  • Good morning everyone.

I posted a cracker of a post yesterday and it just disappeared!!

Hester - cutting your cloth accordingly will have its benefits as difficult as the decision may have been.

Racked up another NSD yesterday...actually and Monday come to think of it. I'll go for another today, well I've no choice tbh. Payday tomorrow.

Work is super busy now. We've the first of 18 events coming up this Sunday and so its all systems go. The days have been flying in.

Anyway, off to make poached eggs, bacon and toast.

    Have a tremendous day!!
