  • Good Morning everyone, fine but cold here today, washing, housework are done, dishwasher is chuntering and He Who Knows has Cookie walked and headed to the allotment for some parsnip clearance. Plannings on the cards for me today, meals for next week, what to take on Friday for lunch when we visit Zebra and what I can shed to take to a boot fair, my cookery book shelves in particular are overflowing and I really MUST slim the collection down. I must also go through the cupboards in the kitchen and slim down things that just sit from one year to the next without being used, would give me much more storage space so I'll have to be ruthless.

Sad that so many of us are having a tough old time of things at the moment and relatives with health problems. I find the best way to find some peace of mind is to try to enjoy NOW, to not forever be harking back and going over things I cannot change and to not be too forward looking and worrying about things that Might happen but then again MIGHT NOT. Humanity is good at over analysing life which causes all sorts of anxiety, what I try for is counting blessings in the moment of time I'm in Now and right now, I'm warm, fed, have enough of what I need, have the daily jobs done and am enjoying a nice cup of coffee, so now is OK and that's a blessing in itself.

Have yourselves a nice day everyone, Lyn xxx.

    Morning all,

HH,I hope your decision makes life easier for you, hugs.
Nmlc-sorry to hear about the ill person, always a difficult time.
Judi -chin up,hope you dont get the blame.
Dumpling, glad you are feeling much brighter.

A minute to myself at last :o.Feel like I still have a full time job atm, scanning & sending documents off etc for DS & what feels like the longest house buying saga ever.Various unforseen probs like garden boundaries, the lender willing to lend less than the asking price and wanting various contractor reports all taking time.DS2 knows it needs work,he intends to gut it, as he and DH are builders but the bank won't accept reports from us .
Anyway, the last report they need will be started today, the builder who has been working next door is going to do an inspection later. They have been great guys & it helped that I lent them our outdoor tap and hose pipe when they discovered no water on in the house :D
We had a bit of good news yesterday when the chief engineer spoke to one of the neighbours. They have obtained some funding & are going to start testing next week and hopefully sort the collapsed culvert out and repair the road at last :jI cant see that they will fill the landslide in opposite,it'd cost too much-just hope it can be made to look a bit better.I went down the footpath last night after DGS had gone, and picked a load of wild garlic and had some in my stir fry with salmon, its lovely.I hope it still grows after they have finished.

I need to get on with a load of ironing and tidying, its always a mess after minding DGS,and it looks like I may have to have him another day.His mum has moved in with a new partner and so has lost her free nursery hours. She has asked DS to give her more money but its £30 just for a morning & when she starts doing more days to cover a maternity leave shortly,he just cant afford that kind of money so looks like I'll have to step in.Love him to bits but its a long day with a 2 1/2 yr old.We went to the park yesterday aft but it started snowing and we had to run to the cafe ;) Cars were frosted up this morning too.
Not sure whats for tea,I made some soup yesterday,& I have leftovers from my stir fry, just need something for the men.

Judi wow! what are your feelings to that ? I don't know what led up to your husband quitting his job but I do hope everything is ok for you and your family
I'm used to it to be honest. He's only stuck it out so long because of our Son who is working with him. I think this is the longest job he has had in the contract industry (8 months). Financially we will be fine. He's got savings and is due a decent tax rebate soonish. He was going to pay off his car loan with it but we will have to see how long he is off for.

    We will be fine.
    Judi

This may not be much comfort but he does seem to be well thought of and not have trouble getting jobs which is something.

Yes, he's thought it through and he doesnt find it hard to find work so i'm not concerned. He needs some time off. The last week he had off we spent down the caravan but Mother died and everything was all up in the air. He didnt get much of a break.

There is some talk about him being moved out of the basement where he is working to somewhere else on the site but the site foreman is dragging his heels. Hubby says, no matter what, he is not going down that basement again. He's had enough.

Nmlc I hope ill person has a calm and painless Journey when the time arrives.

Hester I think making the decision is one of the hardest bits - once that's done, you know (roughly) what you're working towards. Do keep at least some of your crafting going; and I too was going to say maybe L&M could get an allotment or something. Best of luck, anyways.

I fear my shoulder is getting it's revenge for yesterday - I've been swigging Oramorph today (so if I seem a little out of it, that's why). And, as I feared, I had nightmares. Oh well. Nothing new there.

We've bitten the bullet and decided to have the patio redone and a new shed erected (the old one will fall down with a good gust of wind).
Had the chap in today to measure up - I let Mr LW deal with him, just had to do some input regarding a handrail (I'm getting one).

I'm just so sick and tired of taking falls out there, and it's only a matter of time til I break a bone or something; so the patio will be completely taken up, proper foundations, with a plastic weed-proof membrane, put in, the steps up to the whirligig will go and a ramp go in their place, with a handrail on one side - the whirligig itself is being moved, as the ramp will be wider and longer than the current steps; and we shall have a shiny new shed for the lawnmower, garden stuff and recycling to live it.

We have to house the stuff from the shed temporarily, but a lot will fit into the little shed my mobility buggy lives in; the rest will have to come indoors somehow - it's a good chance to sort'n'fling, though.;)

The chap in charge is the same chap who organised the kitchen refit, with his garden services hat on, so I know and trust him - and he knows how much I hate having workmen in, so he'll disturb me as little as possible.:o Plus of course Mr LW will be here to oversee everything.:T

    Fun times ahead..... :eek::D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

    Afternoon everyone.

Today was a much better training day even if I barely got any sleep. And we all went out for a 20 min walk as part of the session which we all enjoyed. Think I've found a TV too, well I have found a TV just beef to check that it functions as one and not just a PCscreen.

Lovely sunshine still with very brief flurries of snow. I'll go up to the Chinese takeaway later and may just find myself at a local offie too, perhaps.

There are some huge decisions being made in OS land this week, goo on you all. Sometimes a rut is easy, climbing out and changing is so difficult but so much better. Well done.

Right, I'm off in search of a cup of tea.

Really good news Judi you must be so relieved .
Candy Girl This weather is not good for arthritis and related conditions is it ? I seem to have had constant flares for months . Hope you feel better soon - we need sun and warmth .
Lame Wolf That sounds such a good plan for the garden should improve your safety and possibly increase your spending time out there . Sending sleep well vibes , hope the pain lessens soon and sending a bunch of spoons your way x
