How to get more greens into my diet?

I'm always low on iron and although I can (and do at times) take iron pills, I would like to try eating more greens.
I like steamed broccoli and green beans, cabbage in colcannon is nice too but that's about all I do. I did try adding cabbage to a soup one time but it made it taste bitter
Can anyone suggest other ways of getting my greens, either as a side dish or incorporated into a main?
Thank you!

Your body needs plenty of vitamin C in order to absorb iron so make sure you have plenty of vit C rich foods as well.0 -
I'm a vegetarian so the question is puzzling: just eat more yummy greens!
I love kale in stir fries and curries. If you like a spicy soup, you can always add spinach eg to a Mexican bean base. Cheese goes well, eg broccoli cheese or a cheese and spinach flan. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -
Huge plate full of rich dark spring greens with sausages and lashings of onion gravy. mmmm
Sprouts sliced and fried with onion, garlic and chopped bacon. mmmm
I don't really understand the question either tbh, just have some green veg as an accompaniment to all your meals, as you would normally any other veg. You don't need recipes. Though I wouldn't concentrate on it too much, just have plenty of veg and ensure you have a good mix of colours balanced throughout the week. That'll give you iron plus all the other vitamins you need.
Maybe if you gave us an idea of what your meals are normally like we could suggest ways of including more greens.0 -
Perhaps have stir fries, stir fried cabbage is lovely.
If you hate greens there are other ways to boost your iron. Are you vegetarian?
Fortified breakfast cereal might help. I particularly like liver casserole, ox liver is nicest of you can get it. Liver and onions in the bottom of casserole dish layer plenty sliced potatoes on top. Mix two teaspoons of cornflour with a half mug water salt and pepper and pour in. Cook in moderate oven as long as you can, until its all soft and potatoes are disintegrating.... Yumm. I love it with cabbage at the side. Double iron boost!

We do eat plenty of other veg - sweetcorn, potatoes, aubergine, carrots, cauli, mushrooms and salads too. It's just the poor old greens seem a bit uninspiring! Other than steaming them I don't really know what to do with them.
I can't bring myself to eat liver as it is, I do like pate made with it but it's a bit fattening so I try to avoid it (I gorge on it given the chance!)
I would just like some exciting ways of serving to get away from the old school days idea of soggy greens0 -
I always have my eggs with spinach or avocado for breakfast adding tomato gives you iron and vitamin c
For lunch I usually have a sandwich and I make sure I put loads of lettuce and cucumber, rocket and spring onions
For dinner I usually have peas as my side dish, sometimes I blend them with broccoli and creme fraiche, I sometimes do braised lettuce with peas - very french.
You can make a really quick pea soup with frozen peas, stock a bit of onion and salt and pepper, blend it and it takes 5 mins to do and you could add other greens too like broad beans or spinach
You can get super greens powders some like Bioglan are very expensive I have this to put in smoothies http://www.bulkpowders.co.uk/complete-greens.html its on sale at the moment and they do a fruit one too http://www.bulkpowders.co.uk/complete-fruits.htmlDMP 2021-2024: £30,668 £0 🥳

Getting iron from veg isn't the only way and in fact we absorb more efficiently from other sources
Lamb, beef, liver, soya beans , tofu, quinoa, kidney beans, mussels , clams oysters, lentils and chickpeas are all good sources
I too don't like leafy green veg and avoid it best I can but I do eat all the above other then oysters0 -
I add kale and spinach to quite a lot of meals I cook. Pasta sauces and stir fries especially. DS makes smoothies with kale.0
