O/S Daily Thread for Thursday28th April 2016

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Chin up, Titus out.

    Morning all
Judi I was glad to hear the good news re hubby after the bad.
LW, the garden is going to be great, I'm sure.
Hugs nmlc, I hope the passing is peaceful and pain free, thinking of you at this difficult time.
    Hugs to Dumpling and Candygirl.
Well I slept later this morning, but mainly as I was up repeatedly during the night with my very stressed weekend guest.
She paced for ages wondering where her family were, snuck upstairs and widdled on hubby's side of the bed.
I slept on the settee eventually, though I was woken repeatedly by a little wet nose seeking reassurance.
She is now sleeping soundly, curled up in the crook of my knee!
I shall wake her in a minute and take her round the block for a constitutional than wake hubby, then go and help DD with the school run and then to work.
My review is at 10am, more plans can be made once the outcome is known.
To save repeating myself and boring everyone, I've posted the reasons for the downsizing are on the Garden Fence thread.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

Morning everyone from my lumpy bed.

Thanks for the thread HH. I glad you're happy in your decision. We upped and moved almost three years ago now, I stopped working and have enjoyed a much more stress-free life since.

Last day on this course, thank goodness. Last night I went out for a takeaway. I'll be back in Glasgow tonight with thoughts of heading home on Friday or perhaps Saturday to keep me going.

Lunches here are a peculiar mix of lovely fresh salady type food with a peculiar meat dish. Yesterday it was said to be lasagne though no-one could find evidence if any pasta sheets, just the odd lump of what may have been overlooked pasta. Who knows?

Anyway, lots of supportive thoughts to those in need of them. I hope all goes well today.

    Happy Thursday everyone.

    Morning All

HH - Will be thinking of you today, I hope the outcome helps with your decision.
Judi - What a rollercoaster! Pleased that your OH and DS have found something else.
LW - I have garden envy! I really need to have this conservatory taken down (it's on its last legs) and then I can have a bigger garden with somewhere to sit which would be nice.

I've got a white wash here but think I will keep it inside today as the forecast isn't too good although it is nice and bright at the moment. Yesterday saw all four seasons including snow and hail.

Work and hospice for me today then I must visit M&S to get a voucher for my Aunt's 80th birthday, DD and I are travelling down on Saturday to take her for a meal.

RR - Is Evie all better now?

    Take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Hh - thanks for starting us off, hope the review is ok x

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now up and getting ready to go to work. DS2 still in his pit will wake him shortly.

Now light, bright blue sky and sunshine, but also a frost, so rather chilly. I have washing to put on the line, which I'll do shortly. Dirty wash basket is rather full, so must address this today, if it means using the TD to dry washing then so be it - forecast certainly doesn't look good after today.

Dinner last night was rather disjointed, boys and DH had ham, egg and chips. I had 2 x crumpets whilst I cooked the boys dinner, then I shot off to the hospital. We had planned that we would go to the hospital when DH got in from work. Best laid plans and all that - the job he was supposed to do which is why he had an early start wasn't ready but would be later in the day so he needed to take it later, meaning he wasn't going to be back home in time to go to the hospital, so I visited alone. Ill person was the best I've seen them since they've been in hospital, was talking, had part of a jacket potato with cheese, ate a whole side salad, then had a bowl of jelly and ice cream and half a cup of tea. There'd been visitors most of the day and when I left there was visitors from ill persons old work place visiting. I certainly think ill person is possibly not ready to go yet, I think it may be another couple of weeks. DH and myself will visit again on Sat after I've been to work in the early afternoon. I do have the thought in the back of my mind though that ill people very often have a while of seeming to "get better and eating and drinking well" then decline quite rapidly - so we have to wait and see, and as yet they haven't been moved to an individual room and is still in a shared ward. From past experience when the medical staff see fit to move ill person to an individual room, that will be the indicator that ill person is declining. (That's my thought on it anyway). Also ill person could remember DH and myself visiting this last weekend although they slept practically the whole time we were there, barely opening their eyes. Ill person's hearing is still very much in tact, I understand it's the last sense you lose. We're continuing to support the immediate family.

Work yesterday was reasonably busy, and I have a training session this morning. I could do without going but it just means doing it another time, so I may as well get it over with. I yet again have quite a "to do" list, so will just work my way through it and potter along.

Dinner tonight will be pork chops, mash, veg and gravy.

    Keep safe and well x
