Non-cookbook quest
I am quite a good 'basic' cook and know the basics of what flavours, ingredients etc... go together (apple with pork, sage etc...) but I'm looking to expand my horizons a bit :D Can someone recommend a cookery book that possibly lists what goes with what well? I don't need a cookbook as such, I'm not really wanting…

Protect your credit cards from scanning.
Lavaza ground coffee packets are made from a metal coated on both sides with plastic. The metal provides an RF shield against scanning and the plastic coatings provide a durable physical protection. Cut open the coffee packaging to get a flat sheet. Then cut to size to fit in your purse or wallet so it will cover both the…

Hi all, Im looking for some advice as im a little confused. So I have some shoes that have had a sugary drink spilled on them and they have dried off with a lot of discolouring on them. Cleaning a wooden table
Hi, looking for some advice with caring for my dining table. It's a walnut table. Over the past few months it's been increasingly difficult to clean. The table has a 'gummy' sticky feel to it which I just can't seem to shift. I've tried bicarb and vinegar but it didn't really touch it. Any suggestions?

Favourite recipes?
We always seem to eat the same meals on rotation so I'm looking for inspiration! These two are my favourites, though I change the flatbread one slightly by leaving out the sultanas and topping with spring onions, chillies and a bit of cheese. http://www.deliciousmagazine.co.uk/recipes/lebanese-lamb-flatbread/…

Any ideas how to clip my backpack straps together?
Hi everyone. I go walking a lot. I have a great daypack that fits everything I need and is comfortable on my back. Problem is, the shoulder straps sometimes fall down. There are two long straps left after adjustment, so I usually just tie them together at the front to keep the shoulder straps on! I was wondering if anyone…

This is ultimate for SC and Simmering ovens in Aga's/Rayburn's. 1lb Stewing steak 2 carrots 1 large onion 2 sticks of celery (I added another one as it was smaller from the middle, but its your own pref on that) 2 heaped tablespoons of plain flour 2 tablespoons…

Nicest Sliced Bread?
We try not to eat a lot of bread, an occasional treat is a couple of fresh baked rolls for lunch if we are shopping in Lidls or Morrisons. (Unfortunately we don't have any lovely artisan bakers around here :( ) Otherwise, I keep a stock of crispbreads, oatcakes etc. The problem is that OH likes a sandwich now and again so…

Portion sizes when you were young
I was chatting with a friend tonight about portion sizes now compared to when we were kids. At the moment we are both overweight! When I was young my dad used to cook a smallish roast chicken (the size that takes just over an hour to cook) and between the five of us we would eat on side for dinner one night, and the other…

Make Shaving Cartridges Last Longer
I have no idea how I discovered it but the other night I was just playing about on the web when I came across an article on how to make your shaving cartridge last longer! What's a reasonable....
weekly spend on a family of 2 adults 3 children and one cat? I went to Asda today rather than Sainsburys as money is really tight after my OH (the only wage earner) has been off sick for 4 months.
