As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Good morning all,
Thank you RR for starting us off.
Weather at the moment not bad so will put the WM on shortly.
DD is calling in for coffee this morning after she has been for a medication review at GPs, then we must pop up to M&S to pick up an order.
TA sending you and DH hugs, I know the waiting is awful but we are all sending you healing vibes, hopefully they will help. I hope you will be happy with the specs when they are ready.
Lyn you sound to be very busy with the cider making, I hope your poor hands have recovered today. Sorry DDs purchase fell through, but I think they are very wise to look for somewhere else. Your home should be your haven after a long day at work, and for that you need peace and quiet.
Not much happening here this week, next week will be busy, Oncologist on Tuesday, nail appointment Wednesday, out for a steak with the girls to celebrate another birthday on Thursday, almost a social whirl
:)
Elona I hope you had a lovely weekend, anything positive on the house sale?
Have a good day all

Morning campers.
Bright morning but with heavy rain coming later. We are promised sunshine tomorrow though.
Yesterday turned out better than expected with sunshine but high winds. I went up to Oban for the odds and ends I needed and then drove the long way home as I wanted to pick up three pieces of jewellery which I'd seen last Sunday. They are presents for the WAGS of the Oz boys and are the perfect combination of being Scottish without any tartan in sight. They are little black Scotty dogs engraved into heart shaped crystal pendants with silver chains. Happy now.
I'm going back to the hospital this afternoon for another physio appointment for my back although it's been no problem since the last one.
More porridge and then there's spag bog for later but without the spag bit! Need to vacuum downstairs at some point too.
I hope everyone has a good Wednesday. GBBO tonight. :j0 -
Morning one and all. It's very cloudy and dark here but rain isn't forecast so that's something I suppose! And at least the strong winds of yesterday have died down.
Because we never did a sm shop last week the fridge is looking rather bare so need to do a bit of shopping today. Mainly dairy, salad, fruit and veg. Might go to Sainsbob's and pass on Ald* today. Mr TA's not eating anywhere near what he used to and with the DGDs at the caravan and not eating us out of house and home, we don't need much else. Freezers well stocked too.
Afterwards I want to detour to TKMaxx to see if they have any cushions that appeal. Some of ours are looking decidedly shabby and really do need replacing. I saw some gorgeous ones in a home store window but nearly fell over when I saw the price!!
The car needs booking in for it's MOT so Mr TA is dropping me at the sm and going to the garage where we usually have it done to fix a date. I pray it passes first time as we have had no end of money to fork out this summer on unforeseen bills.
It's the monthly meet up with the "girls" tonight for carvery and vino. Mr TA heard me on the phone yesterday telling one of them I didn't feel very sociable just now and was going to pass on it. He insists I go but I honestly wish I wasn;t.
Have a good day all. Thanks for all the welcome and much needed hugs and ((((((HUGS)))) to anyone else in need xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one, tired this morning, sleeping ok though.
We have. Chiropody appointment this afternoon, a quick side trip to Morrison as well, need a lemon.
Fine morning but rain is heading our way so we are told, so hopefully no wTering tonight.0 -
Good Morning everyone, nice sunny day here and warm outside already. He Who Knows has gone to the allotment to see if last nights wind brought down any more windfalls and I'm off to the library later on when it opens to take books back.
CANDLELIGHT my hands suffer for the first few weeks of cider making but then harden up, they're fine this morning but when everything else needs processing too, to freeze or preserve I seem to spend an awful lot of time with them in water every day. DD2 and SIL are still looking for their new home, there seems to be quite a lot of property coming on to the market though so hopefully they will find it sooner rather than later. I'll let you know when it happens. DD1 is back in harness writing the new History A Level syllabus for the new style A levels next year and is being assisted by a very happy Pushkin cat who sits on her lap at every opportunity, he's so happy to be home again too!
We're having a gammon joint and bubble and squeak for supper today and I've a nice little piece of stilton and some lovely ripe pears to finish with, yum!
Have yourselves a nice day everyone, Lyn xxx.0 -

Candlelight
No offers made and not sure yet if the viewing took place at the weekend or not. Just trying to put it out of my mind and be philosophical.
We had a lovely weekend. SIL hired a cottage for us all in a lovely little market town not too far away from where DH grew up. We all went on walks by the sea and cliffs and reminisced, finally found the perfect spot overlooking the sea and cliffs and scattered his ashes.
The wind was perfect and blowing out to sea so we felt we had set him free in a place he loved.
Older dd phoned me yesterday to talk her down as she had a car accident  She does not seem to have been hurt but needs to look out for whiplash etc. I will be glad when she and SIL move up north. They will still be a drive away but less than an hour compared to four.
I seem to have picked up a virus and a cough so taking it easy today with hot drinks etc .
Middle DD is popping in for tea tonight so will use up quorn pieces, mushrooms, onion and tomatoes and make a pasta, noodles or quinoa dish which should be easy, healthy and fairly quick.
Had a bacon roll for breakfast so might have a light lunch like soup or omelette. Youngest is not due back till Friday sometime so can please myself what to cook.
Hugs to all"This site is addictive!"

Morning all,
TA hugs x
Just got back from walking the hound.Since we moved house we have a much wider variety of walks, both park and woodland which is nice.Got talking to a nice older gent with a GSD.Surprisingly Ly1a was very quiet and didnt try to pull towards it,she doesnt often meet a dog who is near her size :rotfl:The down side to different walks is I rarely meet the same people twice, but last week I walked back from the park with a lady who says she has seen me a few times,we introduced ourselves and the dogs
On the house front ,DH has put up a fence on one side of the back garden and we've painted it 'Seagrass',looks nice.Just the other side to do now,and a bit more paving which our neighbour is going to do,in return for a load of stone he's taken to do a job somewhere-it came from 2 walls DH took out.
My catering is still pretty uninspiring
.I am getting to grips with the combi microwave but it doesnt seem to get things as crisp as a proper oven, and of course its a lot smaller so when both DS and DGC are here as well it's a bit of a struggle. We'll have to wait a bit longer to sort out the kitchen though until DH gets paid off his current job and the next one in line.Still quite a few other jobs to do yet as well, more plastering downstairs, new flooring, downstairs loo and a bit more plumbing and electrics. We have made a lot of progress in the 2 weeks DH had off work so mustn't grumble
and I feel better when I think of the money we've saved in rent
.
Mrs LW,thanks you've just reminded me I have a gammon joint that needs using,I can do that in the pressure cooker and do wedges in the Remoska.
My goodness, the sun has come out,not seen that for a good while. Its shining on the new fence and an old chimney pot that has pinks in,looks very pretty
On a moneysaving note, the water company is paying us £40 compensation :T as quite a large area was cut off, ours wasnt but the pressure was bad and we had to boil our drinking water for about 3 days.
Ok,better go and do something useful, have good days everybody x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Never posted on these threads before but it's such a good idea!
Today my plans are:
[*]clean out fridge and freezer and meal plan for the coming week
[*]take a bunch of old clothes to one of those 60p a kg places
[*]take other bits to the charity shop
[*]list what is left on selling sites
[*]create a new budget in Excel (my favourite thing)
[*][STRIKE]get some washing on the line rather than tumble drying it[/STRIKE] DONE!
[*][STRIKE]arrange for my weekly paid dishwasher to be collected saving me over £1000 over the next 2 years![/STRIKE] DONE! Only have to make one payment between now and it being collected - ALSO DONE!0 -
