How to succesfully freeze spring onions (salad onions) so that they don't go 'mushy'?
Hi Have bought some reduced! :j large spring onions (aka: salad onions!). They are sized more like leeks than the thin spring onions I have seen for years; I didn't know they made them that size (u learn something new every day! ;) ). Which is great for VFM, but not - of course - if I can't find a use for them, & have to…

Gas v electric cooking- much difference in cost?
We are going to be moving within the next few weeks if all goes to plan. The house we are buying has an electric cooker and even though it has a gas supply, we will have to get an electric cooker to use until we redo the kitchen. My dh was almost not going to buy the house because it didn't have a gas point in the kitchen.…

recommend a food processor?
Our little food mixer has died. It's making a horrible screeching noise when we try to whizz up food in it. We seem to get through quite a few of these little 2-in-one mixers and I'm now wondering if it might be better to save up for a proper food processor. Does anyone here use a food processor, and is there one you can…

Washing a feather quilt?!
Please Help?! Anybody got any bright ideas on how to clean my kingsize feather duvet, without using the washing machine or tumble dryer?! My 3yr old vomited last night and now the just the corner of my quilt stinks, there's no stain as I managed to whip the cover off in time but moisture got through and now it's a bit…

Now this is going to sound like a really really stupid question.
But I'm going to ask it anyway.:o How exactly do you wash your floor?:o:o:o I have been using a mop but it never seems to get as clean as I would like.So inspired by watching "Call the midwife" I thought maybe washing it by hand would be better. But do I use a rag or a brush? Do I leave it to dry naturally or do I dry it…

Tea leaves
Does anyone use proper tea leaves instead of tea bags? I have just ordered a few packets to try - all black tea leaves as I'm not really into "fancy tea", and I like milk and sugar with mine. I have a teapot that my Granny bought me, that includes some sort of inner strainer bowl so that should be perfect for using them.…

now my rug is stinky help
Had this rug for an age (25 years) Just moved house and thought I should clean it better than just hoovering. Put it outside over a rail and beat it to get dust out. Left it over the rail in the sun and now it stinks. Its not a very long pile and it could be wool/part wool but its really thickly packed tight pile. No way…

Best uses for a food processor
I have just recently invested in a food processor and wondered what you all use yours most for. I want to use mine to it's best advantage. I will most likely use it for blending sauces ... Tomato based, and things like garlic mayo, tartare sauce, possibly breadcrumbs. Am I missing any other culinary wonders?

Going to a restaurant 'Bring Your Own Booze' etiquette.
I am going out with working colleagues to this restaurant where you can bring your own booze but I don't drink alcohol. Can I bring my favorite soft drink, I am sure they won't sell it there, or the BYOB is restricted to alcohol?

Ideas to use a HUGE cabbage
In my veg box last week I received a ginormous green / white cabbage, which I have been putting off using as I'm low on ideas. I like cabbage as a side dish, steamed with butter and black pepper or stirfried, but neither are going to put much of a dent in such a big cabbage with only me eating it. Has anyone got any bright…

Using the Panasonic SD2500 Bread Maker
Hello folks, I recently bought a Panasonic SD-2500 bread maker. I have a feeling it might not be what I'm looking for and would appreciate your views before sending it back. I've heard it is really good, however, from the instruction manual it sounds as though if I want to make seeded wholemeal bread, I have to stand…

Can you freeze Rice Noodles?
I bought some pad thai rice noodles at the weekend, they were YS so I can't keep them for long. Had half tonight but need to use up some other stuff tomorrow for dinner. Can I chuck them in a freezer bag and freeze them for use in a stir fry or soup at a later date?
