O/S Daily Tuesday 7th April 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, cloudy but frosty with a bit of a mist.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS1 still in his pit.
Lunch yesterday was a quick pizza, then dinner was roast chicken pieces, roasties, veg, Yorkshires and gravy. Tonight we’re having fish – menfolk will be having scampi, chips and peas, I’ll be having fish, jacket potato and veg. Have menu planned for the rest of the week. Also have enough vouchers to get a couple of free bits on an offer at the moment will be looking into that this week when I do my food shopping.
We had an excellent time away, and a nice part of the country, family all are very settled there and have a lovely home. Got some pics so hopefully I’ll be able to print some out to put in frames. DH also managed to re-upholster my sis’s dining room chairs whilst we were there, she’d bought the material but not had chance to do them, so he did the whole set whilst we were there, so she was pleased with those.
We had a very good journey going and coming back so we got home on Sunday night at approx. 10.30pm – so managed to get a good nights’ sleep Sunday night before having a chilled day yesterday. Went to visit the parents yesterday morning, visited the big frozen food shop to pick up a couple of fresh bits, then into shoe shop to get DH some new work boots, the tread on his existing one’s has completely gone – could have done without the spend but needs must and other than diesel we didn’t spend very much whilst away.
Back to work for us all today, whilst DS2 is still on school holidays until next Monday. I’m expecting work to be manic – it’s always a nightmare after a bank holiday as we’re closed for 1 day, when we’re closed for 2 – all hell breaks loose – you’d think we’d been closed for a week!
Keep safe and well x

Morning one and all, I hope you all had a lovely Easter. Hilstep, what a shock for your DS, I do hope ex goes on ok.
Early morning mist again here but forecast to be a repeat of yesterday, which was beautiful. Unfortunately I felt too yucky to take advantage of it! I know, I have only myself to blame and at the next family do I shall keep off the wine!! I'll stick to enjoying it in moderation at home or just with a meal!
Feel much better today and an attack on the garden is planned!! I look to have a few winter casualties in my pots which need to go in the garden waste bin, to be replaced by some summer bulbs I got in Ald*. Also have some herb seeds to set off. For some reason I don't have much success with basil even though I keep trying and it's my favourite herb.
Yesterday was a day of eating leftovers and bits of this and that from the fridge. Today is another day and after all the excesses of Easter some sensible eating is planned! Some sea bass defrosting for dinner, with baby potatoes and assorted veg. Lunch might be enjoyed in the garden if it's as warm as yesterday so probably salad and cold meat and maybe some pasta.
Have a good day and enjoy this weather while it lasts! Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all,
Bright day here again and looks like it might be beautiful like yesterday, we managed to get the grass cut and strimmed yesterday so it looks a bit better out there for now.
Back to work today but I must say I feel much refreshed after my three day rest, will be back to being shattered tonight .
Dinner tonight is the rest of the roast lamb left over from sunday have all the potatoes and veg too so its just a case of heating it up, mum is coming too.
No washing to do tonight as we got it done over the weekend and all dried outside, I even managed to dye a couple of pairs of black jeans which had faded.
Hilstep your poor EX I do hope he is ok xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
I had a lie in this morning, as DD's dog didn;t come up until 7, he had a potter in the garden & a handful of biscuits & now he's asleep beside my, he must be feeling more settled as he no longer feels the need to sit on my knee, thankfully!
The fish have been fed, hubby & I have a cuppa, I'll do cooked breakfast later.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning everyone.
Misty here too with the promise of more sunshine.
Got Mum home yesterday and she's quite perky again so the increase in her medication seems to be working. I'll take her for her for a pre -arranged docs appointment at 3.50pm and then zoom home.
Well, that was the Easter weekend been and gone, I'm washed out emotionally and in need of a quiet room now.
I will take the chance to get into the bank in Glasgow this morning and have a wee mooch round the city.
Hope everyone has a lovely day.0 -
Morning :hello:
camelot I'm no writer but you've given me an idea – a facebook page!
Yesterday was great. All pots have been filled with compost, ready for seeds, chillis and flowers. We've fenced off the corner under the window, it seems Scampi wasn't happy with the way the new fruit bushes were planted so he dug them up then made the holes twice as deepShame he didn't replant the bushes though, lol. Ball games are finally fun for me too, now that he's realised I'll throw the ball again if he brings it back

Scampi's been out in the car a couple of times but is terrified of it, he's sick after about five minutes – anxiety, not motion sickness. So we're going to just sit in it for a few minutes, twice a day. After a couple of days we'll try sitting in it with the engine on. I'm hoping he'll be able to travel a couple of miles by this time next week but we'll see.
It's cold here at the moment, the sky is blue though and it's looks like it's going to be a nice day again. I'm going to sort my strawberry pots today, the plants have starting growing back and I need to get rid of the dead stuff. I have a large table – too large for the bit of lawn and patio really, so it doesn't get put together very often – that'll be perfect for keeping the plants safely away from little paws.

Good morning everyone
Another beautiful day forecast but it's a little bit cloudy here at the moment. I woke up at 7am which was nice and managed to get downstairs and have a cuppa before the grandchildren woke up and demanded breakfast. They are currently running around shouting about willies and bums, they think they are absolutely hilarious, my DD12 is being very tightlipped...it's very funny to watch.
My lovely support lady is coming at 9.15 to take me out. I think we are going to a garden centre to have a mooch around and maybe get a coffee if I can manage it. I'm feeling positive today so I am looking forward to it. I have spent a few days really thinking about what I want from my life and how I am going to accomplish it and the spin off is I feel much more able to cope with new situations as they arise. The family have noticed a positive change in me and I will continue to build on it.
I will go and have a rummage in the chest freezer as I'm not sure what to make for tea. I fancy mash and beans so hopefully we have some sausages lurking in the depths. Last nights curry was very nice but very very hot. I don't normally buy the Sharwood's brand of curry sauce but their Madras blew my head off
Well I'd better get myself sorted out before she comes so I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to. Take care xx0 -
Morning all,
well the trip to my sons girlfriends house wasnt the best apparently. Shouldnt laugh really but the Mother made them sleep in a tent outside and even then she complained about the noise.:D
I dont think the visit went down well.
Tru Millie dog is a nightmare in the car. She gets over excited. She isnt sick or anything but she drives us up the wall. She calms down and then when the motor comes to a set of lights or has to stop she's vocal again. Ive bought some Rescue remedy for our next journey out to see if it works. Lucy dog is fine, she just sits quietly on the back seat but Millie dog is a pain. I swear if we hadnt got her in her seat belt thingy she'd be all over the place. Its not fear its just pure excitement. She's like it when we leave the house to go for a walk. In nearly 10 years of walkies she's never been any different. Ive tried all sorts, including stopping when she's over excited till she calms down but it hasnt helped. Unfortunately with Millie dog charging to go forward and having to pull Lucy dog (who doesnt like walkies), going anywhere is a major battle.
Think i'm off to see Mom this morning.... when ive woken up.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning All
Well, I feel back in the land of the living, just need to start eating properly! Will go and get fresh veg, etc later on. Good job I don't like waste as I managed to find some veg I had frozen and had that for tea.
tru - start the FB page, I would love to see and hear all your stories.
dumpling - Yay, hope the good mood stays with you, enjoy your day.
HH - How is your eye? Sounds like your lap could be the next problem with your DD's dog sat on it!
Hope everyone is well and enjoying the good weather. It's dry here but I don't think we are to have much sun. I've stripped the bed which should dry in the breeze and plan to cut the grass and put the weed/moss stuff down, I raked it all yesterday. Quite getting into this gardening business!
I have eventually heard from my friend who is over from Oz, she's the worlds worst at any kind of technical communication. Anyway, I have booked her flights to visit here next week which is good as DD will get to see her too.
Enjoy your days. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
Well, ex-hubby has woken up. The surgeons saved his arm, andinned his pelvis. Dd has flown up there this morning. DS is going to visit him too today. Face timed him yesterday, and he still looks shocked and lost. I Think it will take a long time for him to get over it.
Having my DGCH today and over night because SIL is working tonight. Woke up aching all over. My MS is playing up, probably because of the weekend stress.
Sunny and cold here. Going to sit and watch TV now.I Believe in saving money!!!:T
