O/S Daily Wednesday 8th April 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, light cloud but looks like sun will be shining soon. Load ready to go out on the line.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS1 still in his pit.
Dinner last night was scampi, chips and beans for the menfolk. I had fish, jacket potato and veg. Remembered to get the sausages out of the freezer to defrost, so they are safely in the fridge, will serve them with mash, veg and gravy.
Work as anticipated was manic – we didn’t stop all day and had phone calls stacked all the time except an odd occasion – the bonus of that was that the day flew past! I’m expecting the same today to be honest, but I’m only working until lunchtime, then I need to do all my normal chores after visiting the bank after I finish work before coming home.
Car is going to the garage tomorrow for service and MOT, so that will be sorted – could do without the expense but it needs doing.
Have managed to put a wash on each day this week and then get it all line dried, so will strip the beds and get the bedding line dried over the next 2 days – whilst the weather is good.
Keep safe and well x

Morning :hello:
Yesterday's car trials weren't great – I managed to set the alarm off and the car was boiling hot! Today's attempt will happen before 10am, while it's still cool. And I'll make sure I press the right button on the keyJudi Thanks, you're the second person who's recommended Rescue Remedy. If he doesn't improve with his short visits to the car, I'll try it out.
topsy Bouncy is the perfect word to describe them
Scampi is now on FBI won't be using his normal account page, I've made a proper page for him – it's the only way I can make everything public. I've put the link in my profile on here.
I've sorted the strawberries and tidied up a bit. The sun shone all day, I kept heading for the shade but still managed to end up with a nice pink faceTime to dig out the sunscreen, I think.
I now have two broodies. There are four nesting boxes, normally that's more than enough for 10 hens. But with two of them in constant use for the next couple of weeks, there will probably be complaints and even more arguments. If they can't sort themselves out I'll put a couple more mushroom crates in their shed, no doubt the two oldest girls will compain about that – they like things to stay the same and hate any changes.
There's a lot to do but I haven't written a list for today – must do that now, if I don't write things down they don't get done. Can't let it slip, I'm only just starting to catch up with everything

Morning all. Another restless night for me but what's new! Still a month to go before the exploratory op and I will be glad to find out what's causing these ongoing uti's and discomfort. I get so fed up with constantly feeling dragged down.
Well we got the back garden tidied and the patio jet washed yesterday, though I didn't feel a lot of help. It looks so much better and the garden waste bin is full to the top. When we had finished mid afternoon it felt lovely to just sit and enjoy the sunshine. Today we want to start on the front garden, though that won't be such a daunting job. Last Autumn we dug up a lot of the perennials and shrubs which had got out of hand, intending to plant different things this Spring. So once all weeded and dug over we will need to visit the garden centre. Better take the credit card with me!!
DD What'sApped me some photos of the kids enjoying life at the caravan yesterday. They are lucky with the weather this Easter. I hope they leave it all in one piece as we are hoping to go over next week for 4 or 5 days! Just hope the decent weather lasts, though I think it's forecast to be cooler at the weekend.
I have two piles of washing to go in this morning, postponed from yesterday as we didn't want to be gardening in among wet washing hanging on the lines!
Have a good day all. Take care x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
Well it's shaping up to be a lovely day here with sunshine forecast for most of the day. I will be kicking the girls out of the house so they can go shopping as it is a certain someone's (me me me) birthday on Saturday :j:j. I love birthdays especially mineand I am looking forward to spending time with my family and friends.
Milo is still here being adorable but having a dog in the house has decided for me that I am not ready to get another puppy yet. I want to spend a year or so getting the house sorted out. We haven't done much to it since the girls were small so it's looking a bit tired and needs a freshen up. I am saving for new carpets and wallpaper plus all the doors need replacing as they are all filled in from where the previous tenant used to kick them in. This will obviously cost much ££££ but I want to put the work out to local businesses rather than use big companys. It will be a bit of an ordeal for me having strange people in the house but I think it will all be worth it in the end to have a lovely home.
I had a bit of a scare today as I checked my online banking. I clicked on the credit card statement and realised with horror that I had only 1 day to make a payment or I would have lost my 0% status :eek:. It's really put the wind up me as I am normally very good at keeping on top of our finances. I paid it early last month and obviously it was before the statement came out so I nearly got caught out. I think I am going to have to sort out some direct debits so this doesn't happen again.
Tea tonight is going to be bacon, eggs, baked beans and crispy potatoes. Hubby gets a lift home with his friend tonight so tea will be a bit earlier much to the delight of my teens. They think they will die from hunger as they have to wait till 6pm normally :rotfl::rotfl:.
I like us eating all together so I am cruel and make them wait.
Well that's all my waffle for now, hope you all have a lovely day with lots of sunshine. Take care xx0 -
Morning all,
Looks like its going to be a nice day here again although its cold this morning, yesterday at work was sooooo busy we did not stop for a moment all day, I was very glad of my shove in the oven roast last night, I think today will be more of the same as we have spring lambs visiting today.
Something with mince for dinner either spag bol or chilli will see what we feel like later on.
Topsy thanks for the info re the actifry, I think we will have to start saving for one, hope your mum is ok xx
Nothing much on tonight I am fit for nothing once I have finished work but I will make sure kitchen is cleaned at least ( I cannot relax unless my kitchen and loo's are clean :rotfl:)
Right better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Good Morning all, beautiful day yesterday wasn't it. In the afternoon I took my three DGS out for a drive down to St Mildreds bay in Westgate and sat in the sun whilst they played football. It only takes about 35 minutes to get there for me from where I live.
The tide was up but slowly going out and the sun was really warm. This afternoon I have a U3A monthly meeting and there is a talk about trekking in Peru which the youngest DGS will come to with me as he is only 10 so far too young to be left alone ,even with his two brothers. The other two are going to their pals to play for a couple of hours I think so childcare sorted:)
I hope the weather stays nice as its lovley to see a bit of sun after the winter and it cheers everyone up I think
Hope you all have a good day

Morning all,
Lovely to hear your enjoying this sunshine, its misty here but no fog horns so the water must be clear.
Its DS2,s 17th Birthday today, so we were up early - we bought him a wi-fi sound bar (speaker), which I think may be a mistake, its the equivilent of buying a toddler a drum kit  apparently 'Its all about the bass....'
We,re off out for a birthday meal tonight, DS choice, so that,ll be nice.
Have been catching up with housework as DH was insulating and plasterboarding the front bedroom all Bank Hol weekend - bless him, he,s doing wayyy too much at the mo and is worn out, i,ve asked him to take some time out, but he swears he,s fine
All this talk of dogs is making me 'broody', would love to have another one, but we agreed that as the kids are getting older, it would be nice to have a few years of no real commitments and be able to go away without having to worry about puppy care.... Maybe I can stick a lead on the cats
Take care all and make the most of this sunshine xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Morning everyone.
Am back at home and so happy to be here. It's been a rough few days but all is well now. The drive back up north was glorious, sun shining, bright blue sky and all the water was twinkling away.
Today it's just a few light chores! I need to get to the local bank to hand in my R85 form so that my interest is tax-free. Did the Glasgow bank yesterday. It'll mean a few pounds more in my pocket.
Also need to plan my 'days away' trips. Got a few great suggestions of places to visit and am determined to get round them.
There are lambs in the fields at last. Little white jumpy bouncy things which are a delight to watch. Spring is officially here.
Rambling....need to get on.
Hope everyone has a great day.0 -
Morning all,
Tru i hope Rescue remedy works for Scampi. I hope it works for Millie dog too because she really is a nightmare to take anywhere.:(.... well that and the fact she drops a load every few yards.:rotfl: of course theres Lucy dog who is having to be dragged because she doesnt like walks. Take Lucy off her lead and she cries like a baby. Take Millie off her lead and she follows her nose very very quickly.
Well i lay on my bed last night and fell asleep fully clothed. I didnt mean to go to bed, i just lay on it whilst Youngest was doing something in the office... I woke up at 4am fully clothed on top of the bed. Window wide open and rather chilly. I got undressed and into bed hoping to warm up but it never happened. I lay in bed watching Phil Spencer Secret Agent till Youngest went to work and then i fell asleep for an hour.
Last night i was planning to mow the lawn but i got the rotary line out of the shed instead. By the time i had mauled that into position i had gone off the idea of mowing the lawn but i did manage to chuck some stuff that hubby wouldnt part with. Just a few gardening tools that were my Dads but in 30 odd years hubby has never used and have gone rusty. If i chuck stuff bit by bit he might not notice.:) I am hoping that by the time ive finished by the time the top shed has fallen apart whats in there can be put in the bottom shed so the it wont have to be replaced... well thats the plan anyway. I am trying so hard to make things easier for us as we get older but meeting resistance as i go.
Right off to peg some washing out.
Onwards and forwards

Lamb for tea then!
Just lost a post so will try again!
Wall to wall sunshine but frost overnight. Washing dried yesterday, more to go out today.
Need to pot on some cucumber plants, grass cut yesterday but think I used all my energy, can't find any this morning!
tru - slowly slowly should do it, does Scampi have a crate? May help to settle him if it's his bed. We had a dog that would only sit in the front footwell and look sadly at you. If you went through a puddle he would try to sit on your knee!
LW - have you been on your cruise yet?
Judi - Good news for Soldier's visit (and your DD and partner too!).
Enjoy the sunshine if you have it, sorry if you don't. Take care. XX0
