O/S Daily Friday 10th April 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, but cloudy. Load ready to go out on the line.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was roasted med veg tart, jacket potatoes, cous cous and a side of chicken dippers for the menfolk – all eaten and enjoyed and a small slice of veg tart left that’s now safely in the fridge. Tonight’s dinner will be an easy egg, bacon, hash browns, black pudding, mushrooms and beans – as I’ve somehow bought bacon that doesn’t have a very long date on it and it needs using up – will need to remember to watch this as it’s a big pack which contains 4 smaller one’s in it and was going to start buying bacon this way as it works out a better buy. I’ll also try to get a quiche made and that will use up some too.

Yesterday was reasonably productive, car passed MOT and didn’t need anything additional doing to it, so that’s good. I managed to get the washing, drying and ironing, done, the dirty wash basket was empty last night, but not sure this morning – will put a load in shortly if needed and can then put it out on the line before I go out. I stripped our bed and got the linen washed, dried and ironed and put back on the bed yesterday. The boys will strip their beds and I’ll do theirs’ today.

This morning I have the normal chores to do – go to town to visit the bank, then on to do the food shopping. I need to visit my sister at some point as I have Easter eggs for my niece and nephew. I need to purchase a birthday prezzie and card for my dad as it’s his birthday in the middle of this week – don’t have a clue what to get him – as they have everything they could want – thinking possibly a couple of nice bottles of wine.

    Have good Fridays’ everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

Morning nmlc & all who cross post/follow
I started a post yesterday morning about 6:15, then the dog wanted to sit on my knee for 20 minutes, he weighs over 9 stone so by the time he got off & I'd got feeling back in my legs it was time for breakfast, then I had to do an online shop.
I tried to post again at lunchtime, but hubby decided he NEEDED to go to B&Q, by the time we'd battled through the automatic till (which is very tedious with 17 identical items) * got home we needed a cuppa. Then we planted up the hanging baskets, exercised the dog, checked next doors post as they are away & have a glass front door & cooked the evening meal, then my online shop arrived & by the time I'd put it away it was time for bed!
So lets hope for more luck with my post today, we need to go to the pet shop for stuff for the fish tank & the dog will need the usual cuddles/feeding/playing with etc. I think it's today he's going home, if not I'll need to buy him some more food.
The fish have been fed, hubby & I have a cuppa, the dogs had his morning constitutional, I've had a shower, the washing is about to go on the line.
Next will be breakfast & then more gardening.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Mornings one and all. The makings of another lovely day outside but it sounds as if our mini heatwave ends over the weekend. I hope it picks up again as we plan on going over to the caravan on Sunday, coming back on Thursday (needed for childminding!)

Got to Ald* as planned yesterday and ended up spending more on garden stuff than food!! A couple of roses for the front garden, a loganberry for the back, more compost and some cute Meerkat ornaments to join my ever growing collection of animals in the back! (A big sigh from Mr TA when they went in the trolley!!) Then I popped into Iceland next door, allegedly just for some salmon! Came out with 2 bags stuffed full of reductions! They were selling frozen sea bass off for £1.50 a pack (got 4 packs), 500g of fresh mince also £1.50 (got 4) and chickens hp to £2. Sadly the salmon I had gone in for weren't reduced but got 2 packs anyway! When we got home I had to rearrange the freezers to get my haul in them!

I have to go for a blood test this morning to the Health Centre, then onwards to my surgery for my repeat scrip (they don't do bloods there anymore!!) Next the Pet Supermarket to stock up on goodies for all the bird feeders we have at the caravan. Wild birds cost us a fortune but we get so much pleasure from watching them both there and at home. Then back home for the 3 DGDs getting dropped off at lunchtime for the afternoon. I thought we might take them out somewhere for lunch as a treat on the last day of school hols.

Elona I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow and enjoy every minute of it. Your poor DH, I hope he goes on ok and you aren't faced with loads more hospital visits. ((((((((((( Hugs )))))))))

Have a good day all and enjoy the sunshine xx

    Morning everyone.

Today I feel productive! Whether or not I am is to be decided. Right now I'm heading for a swim, despite me being a 'swimmer' in my youth and early adulthood and working within the sport for the past 15 years I haven't actually been in the water for a long time. Think it's being fat puts me off...but I'm fat because I don't exercise enough so it's head up, speedo on goggles at the ready. Unfortunately no early morning times today so it's a 9am start there.

Then I will head out for some garden stuff. TA, thanks for mentioning the A shop. Will go there first and then the garden centre next, they do good lunches.

Joiner coming today with my two garden tables / not potting tables so I need to get the salad seeds and trays ready. Must get netting to as I imagine the flocks of birds at the feeders will strip the seeds.

Got plenty of food in the fridge. Am trying porridge again in the mornings. I found in the past that it didn't fill me up for long enough to last til lunch but am trying again. Lunch will be eggy (farmers hens laying again) and there is chicken for evening meal. OH is still doing stuff on the old house.

Anyway, hope everyone has a fabulous Friday.

    Morning All

Another bright and sunny start, could get used to this! Washing on the line, DW emptied and going in the shower soon.

Took friend's son for a little bike ride yesterday, he's 11 but not very confident but the lure of lunch at the golden arches place got him going. It's ages since I've been on my bike so good for me too.

Pottered about in the garden and got a wicker chair ready for painting which I will do today, it has been so many times you can see the different colours where it has chipped. I will paint it white so it can go in my room if it fits, if not it has had a freshen up!

Elona - hope hubby gets on ok next week and have a lovely time tomorrow - do you have a dress yet?
tru - How's Scampi getting on with the car?

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the sunshine. Take care. XX

Oh no elona! I'll keep everything crossed for you and your DH xx Have a wonderful time tomorrow! :)

camelot He got into the car without trying to break the lead by trying to get back into the house! I used lots of treats the first time, later on he jumped in before treats could be put on the seat :D He wasn't keen on the engine being turned on, but didn't panic either. If he's like this again today, we'll try a short drive tomorrow.

Scampi's one month free insurance runs out on the 16th. I've sorted a policy for him - I was surprised to find that there are more options than for car or house insurance :D After staring at the screen for what seemed like hours and hopping from one website to the next, thinking 'what to do, what to do?' I finally made a decision :D Then I started asking people if I'd got it right, lol. I just need to register him with the vet now, I'll do that today.

It's mr tru's day off, we'll probably do some gardening. I'm still playing catch-up with pretty much everything, hopefully by the end of the day the house will be in some sort of order :D

    Morning all

Bit overcast here atm but looks like it will brighten up later on, I am off out for the day with my dd we are going shopping and lunch out, we were having our nails done too, but one of mine snapped off yesterday really low and will look silly painted so I will watch dd having hers done.

I need some new t-shirts for work and possible some new work trousers if I can find some nice ones not too expensive. I shall treat us to lunch and dd can get the coffee's !

Not sure about dinner tonight we have some gnocchi or pizza and some salad will have one of those.

Will have a quick swipe around the kitchen before I go and that will do for today.

Elona hope the weekend is a beautiful and happy time for you all xx

    Have good days all xx
  • Good Morning everyone, hope you are all faring well with the pollution cloud should you be in an affected area, we're hazy here but it doesn't seem to be too bad and we have a breeze which is helping. We're off on a L*dl visit this morning so I'll be able to pick up some good quality basics for not much cash. The Lurcha is walked the piggy is cleaned and fed so off to shop we go!
  • I am really enjoying the sunny days, DH says it is like someone has switched my fun side back on :D

Music on, housework was easy just a flick with the duster and a vaccum, I love having a decluttered and empty house with everyone out!

Tuna, mayo and cucumber roll for lunch and steak, mushrooms and chips for tonight :D

Now it is time to catch some rays and do some knitting at the same time.

    Afternoon all.

A productive morning for me. I arranged for a tradesman to chop down the conifer tree that hubby had agreed could go before he changed his mind.:D Talk about strike whilst the iron is hot. ;) Havent got the guts to arrange to get rid of the greenhouse yet.... but I'm working on it.:rotfl:

5 days off anti depressants and I cant half tell the difference. Ive got plans for the house and they will be completed. Got a few issues within the family and I am meeting them head on. Plucked up enough courage to tell hubby this morning. "I need to come home" he said. "No you don't, I'm strong enough for the two of us" I told him.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.
