Washing a feather quilt?!

Please Help?!
Anybody got any bright ideas on how to clean my kingsize feather duvet, without using the washing machine or tumble dryer?!
My 3yr old vomited last night and now the just the corner of my quilt stinks, there's no stain as I managed to whip the cover off in time but moisture got through and now it's a bit pongy.
I've got an 8kg load washer but I can't get the stupid thing in there it just won't fit lol.. (Bit like me and my fav jeans haha).
My dryer is an 8kg too so I'm thinking that counts that out too.
Any idea's? Can't be the only one this has happened to..
I should mention the lack of "laundrette" in my area too

When I was at uni many years ago, I was sick on my feather duvet and I took it to the dry cleaners. Probably not very money saving but they got it clean!0

Put in the bath, add soap and hot water and stomp around on it like you're pressing grapes.
It's how I've always washed them because I've never had a washer that will hold them. You need a nice sunny day like today to dry them though.
It's actually good fun - get the kids to join in - MSE way of entertaining them! :rotfl:0 -
Just make sure it is a really hot day. We ended up having to throw ours away after washing in the bath and then hanging on the line. They don't dry quickly and the slightest amount of moisture and they end up smelling really horrible, on a par with vomit in my opinion.

I agree with the above, the problem with feathers is you have to make sure they're bone dry before you can re-use the duvet, otherwise it will honk to high heaven.
You could maybe try bicarbonate of soda, sprinkle it over the affected area, leave it for a while and then vac it off? If that doesn't work I think you might have to take it to be cleaned, sorryleft the forum due to trolling/other nonsense

I wouldn't try washing a quilt if you cant spin and tumble dry it.
I would just wash the affected corner in the sink and roll it dry with towels and then iron it dry.0 -
Thanks everyone for your replies..
I scrubbed it with b.soda in the sink and hung it out, sprayed a little fabreeze and it's good as new.0
