Certo v Jam Sugar
I made some pear jam recently and put lemons in to set it. Whilst the lemons did the job, it was too lemony. So clearly I should have used either certo or jam sugar. I am wondering what works out cheaper and whether they are equally effective?

Vegan Cheese?
Can anybody recommend a really tasty vegan cheese please? It's very expensive so would rather try something on recommendation, rather than pay £s for something that tastes disgusting. TIA

Why isn't batch cooking and freezing working for me?
I am really trying to persevere with this, making a casserole in the slow cooker and freezing in batches but it just doesn't taste the same when I thaw it out and reheat it. I want this method to work as it saves me money and time in the long run but I feel it's not working and I don't know what to eat now. I live alone…

Removing Felt Tip Pen from Clothing
Our 4 year old daughter has recently come home from school with what looks like Felt Tip Pen on her school uniform (Polo Shirt and Cardigan). We've put it through the wash a couple of times with some Stain Remover but this hasn't fully got rid of it. Does anyone have any suggestions for removing it? I'm getting sick of…

Dairy Free Alternative Topping for Lasagne
Can anyone suggest a Dairy Free Alternative topping for Lasagne? It also needs to be reasonably low in fat. Since I have had to reduce my Dairy intake down considerably, including Cheese, I've not had a Lasagne. I would like to somehow put that right as it was one of my favourite homemade meals when done correctly.

Question about sewing...
Hello, I do not enjoy sewing so I do as little as I can get away with, just repairs mostly. However, once a year I alter all my children's long sleeved t shirts into short sleeved ones for the summer. This is a tedious job as I try to do it very carefully so they don't look altered. Is there a small cheap machine that is…

Eating Paleo on a budget?
I have taken a long winding road towards better health and eating and have now been following a close to Paleo diet for almost a year.. Does anyone else do this? If so, how do you keep the cost down? We eat a lot of chicken and fish (I don't eat red meat but my kids do sometimes), free range chicken and wild fish are so…

Emergency Funds
Hi all! I am living alone (well I have 2 cats) and was wondering what sort of emergency funds people have (if possible) and what my emergency fund should be before I start overpaying my mortgage. I'm lucky enough to be in a fairly secure job which pays full sick pay for the first 5 months (as long as I have doctors notes)…

Why doesn't white bread freeze well?
The other day, I treated myself to some Warburtons white Farmhouse loaf. I popped it into the freezer. I took it out to defrost last night as I wanted to use the rest of the bacon to make a bacon sarnie. It took it out and it falls to bits. Its the same goes for white cobs as the top of them falls off. Never have an issue…
