O/S Daily Thursday 23rd April 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Good morning everyone.
A very foggy start here though the forecaster said it would burn off.
Got my wood delivery today at some point. It's a bit later than expected as the company had to change lorries. My road has a weight limit, is single track with passing places and has a narrow bridge access. At least I won't be carting 50 bags in heat.
Yesterday I took a fancy for liver and onions so drove into town to the butchers. I was going anyway to get new muffin tins. Think I chucked the old ones when we moved. Also bought a tarpaulin to cover the dry goods in the back barn. There's a swallow nest which I hope will get its lodgers back but don't want things covered in bird poop.
Don't think there will be much sitting outside reading a book today. Porridge for breakfast with the left over liver for later.
I hope everyone has a good dsy, and their OH's too.0 -
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, cloudy, dull and overcast. Load of washing ready to go on the line, will do that shortly.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly, so he can ready for school.
Dinner last night was egg, bacon, wedges, mushrooms, beans, toast/bread and butter – not the healthiest dinner, but enjoyed by us all. Tonight we’ll be having the beef stew and dumplings that was swapped from last night, I’ll serve that with mash and veg.
Work was steady yesterday although the other staff were busy doing the other job but I’m now on days’ off, but have to go in today for a training session. I got the chores done yesterday afternoon that I wanted, so will crack on today and get the other stuff done, after I’ve been to training.
I have some filo pastry in the fridge, and I’ve decided to try to make an apple/mincemeat strudel, but I’m going to mix some fresh chopped apple with some mincemeat – not sure how this will work out but will give it a go, the mincemeat is YS that I bought after xmas – need to use some of it up. Will make the strudel tomorrow – so we can eat it after tomorrow night’s dinner. Tomorrow night’s dinner is going to be chicken korma, rice and extras – have tried to menu plan for the whole week not just the weeknights’ as this is where we then lapse into expensive takeaways!
DH and I are out all day Saturday – so we’ll need something quick and easy for dinner Sat night, if I plan the curry for then and we’re late back or I don’t feel like cooking then it’ll be too easy to reach for the takeaway menu. If possible I want to get some cooking/baking done either today or more likely tomorrow, so I can get some stocks used up as cupboards are stuffed full of ingredients that I will use to cook/bake with but I’m not doing that very much, so it just all sits there, and I’m sure my shopping is costing more. Would at least like to get the strudel made and a cake, possibly some oat biscuits or mince pies/jam tarts for the tins.
Have good Thursdays’ everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning one and all. Another glorious start here but I think it's downhill after today weatherwise. It's been an early bonus, nice to have a warm spell in April.
I am thinking of you and your family today ELONA and really hope that you get better news than you are fearing.
I got my pre-op assessment over and done with yesterday and they must think I am fit enough to survive the anaesthetic as the exploratory op is still on in two weeks! Called at my DB's on the way home for our sausage order. He was out for the day with a mate but SIL made us welcome and we had a good old catch up.
I am enjoying a bit of peace just now before the 3DGDs wake up and run me ragged before it's time for the school run! I made a big dish of Cheesy Bolognese Bake for tea when they came yesterday and every bit was devoured. They have requested sausage and mash for today's tea when they come after swimming but as DD's new chap will be with them I want to do something a bit "posher"!! Better get my thinking cap on! He's a lovely lad though and I'm sure he'd happily eat anything.
Shopping to be done this morning - Aldi* with the £5 voucher and tokens from the Mirror. Mr TA will collect two on his way to school then we'll have another for next week too.
Have a good day all, take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All
Another lovely day but I think this is going to be the last for a while. Washing on the line, including some of the covers off the settee I have just washed - DD dropped her phone into a cup of tea and tea splashed all over the place. A few choice words were spoken!!
Had DDs South African dish for tea last night and it was actually quite nice even though it seemed to be a strange combination, a kind of curry flavour in the packet mix. We ate it anyway as we had been for a bike ride!
TA, glad everything went well for you, hope the poorly OHs are feeling better, Elona, will be thinking of you today. LW, enjoy your visitors, that's quite a long stay.
Hugs to all in need, take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone
Still sunny and warm but it's not looking good for the weekend. It has been really lovely to have such nice weather this early in the year though so there will be no complaining from me.
Hubby has gone off to work quite happily and it's PAYDAY tomorrow, woohoo! We are still saving up for a second hand car but hopefully it won't be too long now before he can start looking. It will make such a difference to us, especially my husband as he will be home from work in 20 mins rather than the hour it takes on the bus.
My friend is coming over today and we will be going out for a little walk round the park I expect. I'll make some sandwiches so we can save some money on lunch. She normally brings me some eggs from her ducks and chickens which are lovely so I will boil some of them up too.
Elona, you and your husband are in my prayers today and I hope everything goes as well as can be. Hugs offered to anyone else who would like one too.
I hope everyone manages to have a lovely day whatever they are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning all,
Looks a bit overcast here today but meant to brighten up later on, I did a wash load last night which I was going to hang out today but I think I will hang it on the airer in the conservatory instead it will still dry well out there.
DD here as she is at work with me today and tomorrow so she will be staying tonight its nice to have her here, her placement is still not sorted she and I had a meeting with the uni last week and they have promised that we should hear something by the end of this week ! I hope so or I shall be going back to see them !!
Not sure about dinner I have to run dd home to her house after work to collect some stuff so it might be something and oven chips, we shall see.
Elona thinking of you and DH today hope all goes well xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Elona - best wishes for today xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Elona best wishes for you both today.
Sun is up and the washing machine is on.My gardener comes this morning to mow the lawn, its full of daisies at the moment.Hopefully I'll get the washing on the line for a blow, rain is forcast later.
alomost another month gone time is just whizzing by at the moment I am awaiting my letter for my op. the last one of my reconstruction then once healed up I am treating myself to some new and pretty bra's.it will seem strage after not wearing any for 8 years but it will be nice to have a shape once more and clothes will hang better.

Thinking of you elona xx
My 'new' clothes are all in the wardrobe – and I don't know what to wearToo much choice so I'll probably just throw leggings, a t-shirt and trainers on, lol.
The shopping's being delivered this morning so we'll go for a walk earlier than usual. It's bin day today so I expect we'll have to pause outside every house while Scampi sniffs each bin. A quick “with me, Scamps” sees us moving again – til the next bin
The kitchen cupboards are in a mess, everyone says they put things away properly so obviously the tins and packets got bored and rearranged themselves in a very untidy way. I'll sort them as I'm putting the shopping away. I have two tax returns to fill in but I'm not in the mood for numbers, so I'll do the easier one today and leave the other til tomorrowI haven't picked up my crochet hook for a while, I'm itching to make something – not sure what yet – so I'm going to make time this afternoon to browse a few blogs and see what others are doing.

Elona, thinking of you xxx
Bright here this morning, DH has the dentist at 10am, but I want to get a couple of daily mirrors one for this week and one for next.
DH dragged me down to the doctor last night and it seems this cold has turned into bronchitis, so I am on anti b's and he gave me more nebules for my nebuliser, I have to go back on Monday.
The good thing is that I have dropped 9lbs in weight, but I wouldn't recommend it as a long term diet plan
DH will be home soon so I am going to try and make him a cuppa I need to take my pills and neb anyway..
Just feel so blooming tired
Bfn xxBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
