O/S Daily Wednesday 22nd April 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, cloudless sky but air feels a bit cool. Load of washing ready to go on the line, will do that shortly.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly, so he can ready for school.

Dinner last night was scampi, chips and beans for the menfolk. I made some salmon fishcakes and I had those with veg and salad - DH and DS1 decided they would like to try them too, so they had 1 each with their dinner – they were fine, although when I make them again I’ll experiment a bit more with the recipe and try to use potatoes with a drier texture. Tonight we’re having egg, bacon, etc as DH has a couple of jobs he wants to do when he comes in from work.

Only working today until lunchtime, then will come home and do the normal chores.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Another glorious day in the making, one load of washing already out and my bedding just about to finish. Don't know what I'll do when it rains, got used to this good drying weather!

DD requested pasta and hm sauce yesterday, I had rice and I enjoyed it as I haven't had that for a while, been having stir fry veg as it's quick when I am on my own. I do need to get back into the way of cooking proper meals now DD is home. She is making a South African dish tonight with a mix brought home, I am dreading it, minced beef, with a custard and bananas on top! I think it's called Baboti.

Not much happening today I don't think, school has been quite nice as the children are all happy to be playing outside without a coat.

Hope all the poorlies and OHs are ok, hugs to you if you are in need.

    Take care. XX

    Morning.

    Another bright day promised.

After my packed day yesterday I plan a quieter one today. I've had surprisingly little pain from the surgical wound, though I have to say I've bigger cuts from my kitchen knife! I slept really well but feel reluctant to get out of bed.

Still got lettuce to plant out, bought way too many for two people.

Got my breakfast porridge soaking overnight again. I'm now adding in some chia seeds and cinnamon to add interest and taste.

Did a tiny little shop yesterday, just some fruit and soup. I was looking for cherries but no sign yet. I indulge myself with cherries every year as they are so delicious.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning one and all. Beautiful start to the day here. not a cloud in the sky and bright sunshine.

Yesterday was really hot but as we were cooped up in St James' we couldn't take advantage of it. We got there about 10.30 and Mr TA went straight for his fasting blood tests. Finished by 11.00 so went in the hospital restaurant for breakfast. Bacon, sausage, egg, hash brown and beans, followed by a coffee and a fresh cream filled scone!!! Yummy! Then it was the long wait for the consultant and injection. All went well and as he is tolerating the injections well he can have next months at our local surgery, so that saves the trail to Leeds. After his 6th injection he has to have more scans to see if they are halting the growth of the tumours (or even better, shrinking them a bit)

Today it's my turn at the hospital for my pre-op assessment. I've decided it's not much fun getting old! My appointment is at 1.00 and I have to allow at least an hour. So it will be an early lunch to get there on time. Rather than pay the ridiculous parking price at our hospital, Mr TA will drop me off and wait with his DS till I am ready! (She lives near the hospital)

We have the 3 DGDs for tea, sleepover and school run both today and tomorrow and I just hope the sickness bug that's getting passed between them has gone elsewhere!! I have a pan of Bolognese already on the go to make a Cheesy Bolognese Bake for tea - by special request of the eldest!

I hope the poorlies are feeling a bit better today, especially Mr Elona and Mr Csarina. Take care everybody and I hope you are all enjoying this lovely weather. xx

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Yet another beautiful sunny day here this morning, it almost makes me want to go out in it. Hubby has gone off to work in a bit of a grump because his phone didn't charge up overnight and he feels lost without it. He also likes to text me through the day to make sure I'm ok as well. The girls are rushing around as per normal and I've got some washing on, drinking a cup of tea and planning to go back to bed in a little while :D.

I made an appointment to see my lovely GP yesterday and my support worker came with me as I am struggling very much with anxiety and severe mood swings. He was very straight with me about my diabetes and weight without being overly critical and he told me he believed I could lose some weight as I was a very determined woman. I feel more motivated than I did now so that is helpful.

I've taken some chicken thighs out of the freezer and I'm going to try a new recipe I got off of one of the other threads. It's orange chicken and I've got all the ingredients here already. Well, we can only see what it turns out like and whether it's edible. Tomorrow I'm making burger in a bowl as it's a slimming world recipe and it looks quite nice. At the moment I'm enjoying cooking again so I will keep experimenting on my family :rotfl::rotfl:.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Must also feed the birds before I go to work, I am sure they all line up outside pointing at their watches if I am late or forget :rotfl:

Something with mince for dinner possible a spag bol with pasta I think dd might be coming to eat too so will do her a veggie version.

Hi to TA and good luck at the hospital today. I agree about parking charges - our nearest one is now £2 an hour and only a few years ago it was £1.40.

DH not awake yet so on laptop with a cuppa next to him. Hoping to get him comfy then coax something to drink into him.

DD coming home tonight so there are two of us to help him get up for hospital results tomorrow which is a relief as I can't safely get him downstairs on my own.

DD got me a few bits of shopping so will finally get round to making fish pie for tea and turn the leftover beef and onion into a small pie or something.

Looks like a nice day so far .

    Hugs to all.

    Morning :hello:

All plants have made it into the greenhouses, I can't tell you how big my sense of achievement is :rotfl: I'm annoyed about my cucumbers though – I sowed four, only three grew, one died so I planted two. Something has eaten them gggrrrrr. I'm going to the garden centre on friday, hopefully they have some plants left but it's probably too late to buy them now.

I pulled out all of my clothes yesterday and had a good sort out. I flung a few things that are too scruffy even for around the house, then tried everything on. Two of the drawers under the bed were full of clothes that were too small, most things fit me now :D A couple of shirts are a bit tight so I've put those away for now, two pairs of jeans that wouldn't do up last year are too big. TOO BIG woohoo_zpsbc67c386.gif:D:D

More lessons for Scampi today, he's starting to realise that pulling on his lead means we stand still and don't move, and that's very boring. I got caught having a conversation with him yesterday – I talk to him as we walk near roads so he stays calm and doesn't shout at traffic. I ran out of things to say so said “and there's a car coming and we're going to ignore it and keep walking til we get to your favourite grassy bit......” just as a man caught up with us. He was grinning away and I burst out laughing :D

Apart from a few pots on the windowsill, the chilli plants have been moved out of bedroom (at last!) and the large propagator has been put away. My chair has been put back next to the window – it was in the lounge where it was too crowded and looked a bit silly, lol. The eggs are sorted and boxed, ready to sell. I haven't got much to do today, the garden is sorted so it just needs watering every day now. I'll wash my 'new' clothes and give them the space they deserve in the wardrobe :D

  • Morning, another bright and sunny one. back for another INR this morning, levels still not high enough. Hey ho.

We have cars parked all along the road into the cul de sac, not easy to get out, the road we turn off has no parking beacon on both sides, no idea why.

We are going to look round a sheltered housing complex after we have been to the INR clinic. We have been put back on the waiting list and are due to hear something within 6 months unless a different property comes up.

In bed at 9pm again last night, OH slept, I woke around 2am, lay awake for a couple of hours before I dropped off again.

    Morning All,

I do hope everyone is well, if not then you have my very best wishes.

It's a glorious day here which is great as i have loads of laundry to hang out.

I have a long list of chores to do today, i find that it is not too much of a hardship to do chores when the sun is streaming in the wide open windows.

I have no idea what to make for tea tonight i will have to have a rummage in the freezers. I was meal planning for a few months but it has fallen by the wayside so i must get back into it as it makes life so much easier.

I hope everyone has a great day

    regards
    :j
