O/S Daily Monday 20th April 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, misty and air feels rather cool. Load of washing ready to go on the line, will do that shortly.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly, so he can ready for school.

Dinner last night was pork steaks, mash, carrots, cauli, peas and gravy. I cooked the pork steaks in stock with some herbs and vegetables in the oven and they were lovely, then used the stock to make the gravy. Tonight we’ll be having duck breasts, new potatoes, peas and broccolli, I’m going to use some red wine and stock to make a jus/gravy – I’ve never cooked duck breasts before, so this will be something new.

We had a nice time at mum’s yesterday and my bro was really pleased with his birthday prezzie.

Back to work for me today, saw a friend on Saturday who said the office was absolutely rammed on Friday – so it’s likely that will continue into today – as when it’s busy, people leave and come back another day – that being either Saturday or today. Deep joy – I think I’m on Reception – but I prefer it to be busy.

Keep safe and well x

Morning All

A bit overcast today, I am used to sunshine! Still, the washing will go out when it has finished. Managed to get the other sofa cover washed, dried and put back on yesterday.

First day back at work for me after a fortnight off, really have got used to being at home although I have been a bit aimless at times. Still, only 2 weeks and we get a day off for May Day!

Hope the poorly DHs are feeling ok, have a good week. Take care. XX
• Morning all, promises to be a nice day today as the sun is already shining. Yesterday remained quite chilly all day and we had a downpour last night for good measure!

Happy Birthday LAMEWOLF have a good day!

Just had an SOS from DD. She is working today and the DGDs have been with their dad and GF this weekend. He rang her silly early to tell her the middle DGD now has the sicky bug!! To save GF taking the day off work are we free!!! What could I say! So poorly child getting dropped off around 8.00! The eldest one will have it next! Apparently it's spreading round the school like wildfire!

No plans scuppered other than picking an outgrown bike up from a friend for our eldest DGD and a few jobs in the garden. We have a few trellis to put up for some clematis which are patiently waiting in their pots! Jobs which can wait I suppose.

Not given a thought to today's meals yet so need to have a rummage in the freezer and see what appeals. Loads of fish in there, courtesy of the Iceland bargains I got last week, so maybe sea bass tonight.

Elona and Csarina, look after yourselves, as well as looking after your DHs.

Have a good day all and take care xx

Morning all,

Nice day here again although the wind is very sharp and its a lot cooler, but the sun is out which is the main thing.

Off to work today at the not so nice site and I have someone's review to do this morning which should take up most of the morning.

We have the other two burgers for dinner tonight in a bun with wedges, will d some more garlic mushrooms too.

Need to do an online shop tonight too. Managed to mow the lawn yesterday and got so much washing dried on the line, all beds changed too.

Good morning everyone , bright and sunny at the moment, but still a sharp wind blowing.Couple of quick visits this morning, one to the Drs. for an injection, then off to the library to return some books.

I will have to drop into the bank to pay a some money in as well. I had £23.66 left over from my Jan-Mar food purse so that's going into the holday spending fund for treats when we go away on holiday.
Then it is out of sight and forgotten about until August, and I won't be tempted to spend it

I try to bank every three months my left over cash ,if any, then I'm not tempted to spend it :)

This cash helps to buy days out and ice creams etc for my DGS when we are away

Boys are back to school this moning so life as I know it resumes as well. Tomorrow morning its U3A coffee morning with my free Dobbies voucher then in the evening its quiz night (I get fed there so have no need to cook tomorrow night :):):)

I came home last night with some left over meat and veg from DDs which, with gravy with be more than enough for dinner tonight. I shall have some fresh fruit salad for pudding.
My menus are all sorted until the end of the month, so no food shopping to buy this week :)
I may make some carrot and coriander soup this morning as I seem to have a bit of a glut in the bottom of the fridge

Hope you all have a good week and keep warm
Cheers chums

Good morning everyone :hello:

It's looking to be a lovely sunny day again today so I've got some washing on the go. Hubby has gone off to work and the girls are faffing around getting ready for school. They have a touch of the Monday blues but I'm hopeful that once they get to school they will be ok.

I've had a lovely weekend and went to church yesterday which was very good. It was so lovely to see everyone there and they were so pleased to see me looking so much better. I came home to a really nice sunday dinner of roast chicken and salad made by hubby. Even better was the fact my eldest DD and grandchildren came for lunch as well so I had a great day.

Today is the day I go back to Slimming World with my sister. Honestly, I feel ok about it. I will have put on quite a bit since my last visit but I am not going to be made to feel bad about it. It helps that my sister has the same sense of humour as myself and we can easily laugh at ourselves. She has been on holiday so will have a few extra pounds hanging around too. We shall just sit in the naughty corner :rotfl::rotfl:.

I have an appointment to meet a new psychiatrist this afternoon. I really didn't get on with my last one so I hope this one is more helpful. I have been on a 'medication holiday' as my CPN puts it and although I feel well at the moment I would like to know what options I have for the future.

I've taken some mince out for dinner. I'm going to make a chilli and put some potatoes in to bake. We have lots of salad left over from yesterday so it should be a nice healthy meal.

Before I go, I want to wish a Happy Birthday to Lamewolf, I hope you have a lovely day and get thoroughly spoilt.

Well, that's all my waffle for now, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
• Good morning all.
Been AWOL for a while due to work commitments.
So much has happened here i dont know where to start. DH has handed in his notice as he has a better job to go to. and it is better hours so i will be seeing him in the evenings again. DD1 and her BF have both managed to get jobs so we wont be dipping into the house fund to bail them out any more (fingers crossed). DD2 seems to have grown up a bit and is taking responsibility for her self more now. Me well im plodding on and enjoying the peace whilst it lasts lol.
Managed to get some of the garden done yesterday and just need to plant the flowers out in the front today.
DW nearly finished and WM nearly done with bedding . just needs to go out on line as it promises to be a nice day here.
After that im at a bit of a lose with what to do as all HW got done yesterday.
Anyhoo enough rambling from me. Hugs to all in need.
Happy BD Lonewolf x
Bright Blessings xx

Morning everyone.

Woke at 3.30am for no known reason so put on a podcast to listen to for half an hour and then dropped off again. Odd.

Weekend was lovely even though I managed to muddle up my tomato plants. Lettuce and carrot seedlings planted, strawberry plants nurtured and I chucked some flower seeds into the ground, just to see if anything grows.

I'll go for a walk soon, prefer to go before breakfast. I used to walk to and from work in the late '90s which was about 2 miles each way and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Todsy I will be sorting out the huge number of T shirts I have accumulated, want to donate all the short sleeved ones, can't wear them anymore so they can't have house room.

Breakfast will be porridge. There is pea and ham soup for lunch and something else for evening meal.

Happy Birthday Lamewolf, have a lovely day.

Hope everyone has a fine day.

Morning :hello:

tired mum
They should be leaving you alone, especially as the reason you're off is stress  Do you have caller ID? I'd be ignoring their calls. And I'd be replying to the email as if it were meant for me.
Happy Birthday LameWolf :bdaycake: :D

Not a good day yesterday, I've transferred all jobs to today and tomorrow instead.

I was going to go into town this morning, I have to buy a present for someone who I can't be bothered with. Miss tru said she'd pick something up while she's at work, so that's saved me a trip :D

I managed to get two loads of washing done and out on the line before 8am, it won't take long to dry in this weather. Only two more loads to do and I'll have caught up :D We're having problems with Scampi pulling on his lead so I'm going to try something new today. Gardening later then a nice hot shower before I head out for a couple of hours at teatime.
