Vegan Cheese?

Can anybody recommend a really tasty vegan cheese please? It's very expensive so would rather try something on recommendation, rather than pay £s for something that tastes disgusting.

Violife cheddar style is nice
I would avoid Cheezly though, as it upsets my stomach
If you go into a health food or eco shop, and ask for recommendations, they normally recommend violife.0 -
I like Violife too, it's nice in a toasted sandwich.0

If you look online there are recipes for vegan cheeses and raw vegan cheeses. Might be worth it to try making your own. You know what goes in it then.
https://www.onegreenplanet.org for example has a few recipes.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
Violife is ok, but still far off the real thing. I've heard amazing things about the non dairy revolution cookbook, if you want to try your own!0

Thanks for telling us about this. I have just looked at it online and it looks lovely!0 -
I've tried loads-both home made and ready made-and in my opinion this is the best: http://www.maplespice.com/2011/04/baked-almond-feta-with-dill-oil.html
Really, really easy as no need to grind nuts as already ground. Also, if you don't add too much liquid it doesn't need to drain. Also lasts a good 2-3 weeks in the fridge (and gets better as it ages).
Read the comments for ideas on how to modify it. I like to add mustard, nutritional yeast and garlic powder.0 -
Thanks again everybody for your suggestions. The only type available near me is Violife which, now having tasted, I'll be having a go at making my own.0
