The Great British Sewing Bee series 2 tonight 8pm
I've just noticed series 2 begins at 8pm on BBC2 tonight. I loved the first series, this has 8 episodes which I think is longer than the last one. I would love to learn how to use my sewing machine properly & make my own clothes, sadly I can't find any local courses but I will watch with envy!:D

What to do with leftover haggis?
I recently acquired a very RTC haggis, mostly out of curiosity as I've never tried it before. :o Having tried some, I find I quite like the taste but am less sure about the texture, which is a bit 'gloopy' for my liking (with apologies to all Scots for criticising your national dish! :o ). I now have three quarters of a…

Save with Jamie
I have the Save with Jamie book and was looking at cooking his chicken stew and making into a shepherd's pie for dinner tonight with leftover chicken a sort of poultry farmer pie! Anyway I was looking at his calorie count and IMO there is no way that the calories are correct. chicken stew with mash - he reckons that for 4…

Chicken stock in place of beef???
So I'm on a no unnecessary spend pact (were in desperate times) and I'm trying to spend a max of £15 on food this week. My freezer and cupboards are pretty much full so it's just really potatoes, fruit, milk and bread I should need. Tonight I am cooking Chinese beef with egg fried rice and HM naans. I have everything in…

Cleaning rough bathroom floor tiles
Hi all, I've done a quick search to no avail so apologies if there's a post somewhere answering this question. I've got beige bathroom floor tiles with a slight greyish 'marble' effect which is irritating as even when clean they look grubby... But even so they need a damn good clean. They are a rough finish, The grouting…

Budget Buffet/Decoration Ideas?
Hi! I am throwing a surprise birthday party for my flatmate and around 30 people are coming. I am a student so I am on a incredibly tight budget. I was thinking of just buying 4 or 5 pizzas and some garlic bread but I want it to look like I have made an effort and not look stingy. He will be out of the house between 4-8pm…

How to repair a Kipling bag?
If you are familiar with this brand, you will know that they are made from a kind of strong nylon, can be chucked in the washer and last for years. Most of them have a chunky zipper with which to close the bag. This is where my problem starts. My bag does not have a zipm closer. Instead, it has two largish 'poppers' that…

Who has a Thermomix?
I am coveting a Thermomix! But they are eye wateringly expensive (about £900 I believe). Does anyone have one? Do you love it? It wouldn't save me any money, but there are a lot of things I do that take ages which could be automated with a Thermomix. Like custard, or risotto, or lemon curd. I flipping hate standing at the…

"Savers" cleaning products that really work
I've just started using Morrisons Savers dishwasher tablets at around £1.70 for 30, and they are FAB!. Looking at the ingredients I can't see any big difference between their savers and their regular tablets. It's got me thinking about replacing other cleaning/laundry/bath products I have with cheaper alternatives - can…

Rosehip powder - what to do with it?
I need ideas on how to work rosehip powder into recipes? I picked up a pack as I remember reading that it is a good anti inflammatory for arthritis but I can't see how to incorporate it at the moment. I have searched the web for ideas but don't fancy rosehip tea.

Pink stains on new white leather sofa-help!
So I've had leather sofas before but never white, got a gorgeous one delivered about 10 days ago. All good until last night - after a crappy day I put on my new bright pink bathrobe and curled up on the sofa. When I got up the sofa was bright pink where I'd sat _pale__pale__pale_ Tried to clean it with what I had in the…
