OS Daily Monday 17th Feb
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning peeps,

Not been around for a while although no real reason.
Half term starts here, trying to put off getting up, today catching up on washing it's shocking. Sorting meals for the week and crowd controlling the kids.

    Take care lovelies xx

    Morning everyone

Now light here, misty with a frost.

DH up and gone to work stupid early.

Lunch yesterday was a quickly thrown together meal, as we got back at lunchtime but boys didn’t get back until into the evening and had eaten a lovely roast beef late lunch at my brother and SIL’s before they left to come home. DH had most of a pizza that I added ham and mushrooms to, with chips and salad, I had a small slice of pizza and salad. We’d had a buffet breakfast at the hotel before we left. I remembered to get the sausages out to defrost last night, so tonight we’re having sausages, mash, veg and onion gravy.

Weekend was great and we were made very welcome, the meal Saturday evening was lovely and enjoyed by everyone. The hotel I’d booked us into couldn’t have been in a better position and was less than a mile and half away from the venue – so we decided to get a taxi there and back so we could both have a drink during the evening. I’m pleased we took the decision to book a hotel instead of towing the caravan because the driving conditions on Saturday were very very windy and even in the car we could feel the cross wind in places.

Boys had a great time at the event they went to see, DS2 had recorded some on his phone and it all looked good, they really enjoyed it.
Back to work today so not sure whether it will be quiet or a manic Monday – we do have staff off because it’s half term so will have to wait and see what today brings – hoping to be reasonably busy so it makes the day pass quicker!

    Keep safe and well x

  • Good morning all,
Nice to see you posting again bargainbird.
Sharp frost overnight. Really quite chilly outside although the sun is beginning to shine.
I am off work this week, half term. Was still up early, 5.45. Always the way, when you can sleep in, you can't.
I have an eye test this morning. Not looking forward to that as i know i am going to need glasses. More money to pay out. All we seem to be doing at the moment.
Not alot of leftover chicken from yesterdays dinner but enough with added veg for a pie for tea tonight. Have made a jelly, so there is ice cream to go with that.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

  • Good Morning all, dry at the moment but the forecast is the wet stuff again.I just read an email from my cousin in Adelaide and apparently its been over 40c and they had the longest hot spell ever recorded with 14 days of tempretures over 40c in this year alone.!!!.I think we could do with a suitcase of that over here to dry us all out a bit.Well half-term and I shall have to get my thinking cap on to figure what I can do with the boys this week, especially if it buckets down again !!!!.
Right must dash as I want some breakfast before I am off to look after the lads
    Take care everyone

  • Morning all,

Bit dull out there today. WM is on. DH getting ready for work.

Supposed to be having hair done this morning and walk with friend but she has 'man flu' so may have to have a rethink.

Need to go to the bank later and have to drop DS2 to the station as he is going on a 24 hour visit to his brother in London. Can't decide what to do for tea tonight.

    Happy Monday :)
  • Morning all,
Not posted for a while as nothing happening really. Still off work with bursitis but have had my first physio appt inc some ultrasound so hopefully that will help. Must say very impressed with local surgery as I was referred to physio at 4pm the next day got a call asking me to go for first appt at 1pm! Have doc again today so will see what he says.
Had a visit from my dad with a cheque from him and mum. It is part of their money left by my grandma when she passed away. Small amount but want to buy something special with it so will get my thinking cap on.
Was away this last weekend at a friends wedding, was lovely. We made a weekend of it as we had babysitter so stayed the night of wedding and the following night :) relaxed, ordered room service and drank champagne.
Thoughts with NPM and snoozer xxx
Better go get ready for doctors appt. kids are off for half term, finished on wed last week and off for a week so will have to keep DD occupied.
Hugs for anyone who wants or needs them xxx

    Eighth Anniversary
    Morning everyone,

    NPM Many hugs.

JackieO Happy belated birthday and anniversary.

Hester Half term at last, and we are still waiting for our Ofsted verdict.

    Molly Hugs.

LW Hope that you are enjoying a furry visitor.

I am so happy that it is half term, the last six weeks have been such hard work and I really need a break. All I am going to do this week is sit around and drink tea with various friends! Oh, and tidy up a bit- let the decluttering commence.

Hugs to all who are affected by the terrible flooding and storms, we live in the flood plain of the River Trent but fortunately it hasn't flooded here since 1947, you can see how far it came up the walls if you remove the downstairs wallpaper, about 3 feet!

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Hi everyone,

I'm back home again, full of cold caught from DH.

We had a lovely day yesterday, we went for a long walk, although sis-in-law and I always vow we'll stop DH choosing the walk as he always claims it's easier/shorter than it is. Then we had a late pub lunch, shut up the Yorkshire house and came home.

I'm expecting DD's piano from mums so I need to clear the cr*p out of the study. We have a bad habit of piling up the filing until it becomes a teetering mountain.

I also have a number of letters about mum to deal with - I seem to be drowning in paperwork.

I need to go and collect my sewing machine from the service shop as well, I'm getting withdrawal symptoms.

    Have a good day all.

NPM, I've just seen your post from yesterday, I'm so sorry, be very kind to yourself because it will take time to get over, not just physically, but emotionally.

JO, how lovely of your family, I hope your day was filled with ahppy memories.

    Morning all,

back from Brum. DD is waiting to find out if the PIA landlord bothers to sign contracts today. If he doesn't, then goodness knows where they will live as they have to move out at the weekend for next tenants to come in. She is investigating holiday lets as a temp solution, but they are thin on the ground. Very worrying.

Off to do some food shopping.

    Try and stay warm.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
