OS Daily Thread Sunday 16th Feb

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Chin up, Titus out.

Couldn't find a daily thread so I've started one, if I've doubled up, I apologise.
Very frosty this morning, we've had cooked breakfast & hubby wants to go to Wicks & buy some brackets in a while, but he's pottering in the shed/greenhouse at the moment.
We had flying visits from DD1 & her family & DS4 y'day, DD1 dropped off some truffle mousse that her partner had made (he's a chef), so I've defrosted the last 2 pieces of steak to go with it. DS4 came round to let me know when he could sort my car out & to collect his DVD collection that he loaned me when I was ill.
It's sunny here at the moment so I'm going to hang some washing out.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all who follow,

I think everyone must be having a lie in:)
A bit dreary here again but dh and I are off out. I think we are both a bit stir crazy. It's been a struggle with my knees but even if we just sit in the car I'm determined to have a change of scenery today.
We watched a film last night, it was horrible, very violent so I stopped watching half way through and so did dh not long after, no kind of warning in the description , I had awful dreams:eek:
Quick toast for breakfast and then a shower before we disappear. I'm hoping the house stays tidy while we are out.
    Have a good Sunday x

    Morning all,

Not long been up, well enough time to put a wash on and tidy round, dd's boys stayed over and is on the sofa so it makes coming down early a bit awkward ! still all up now.

Going to get the final coat on the wardrobe doors today, we hung them yesterday and they look beautiful my OH is so clever I drew the design of wardrobes I wanted and he made them ! they are massive and I love all the storage.

Chilli and rice for dinner with wraps and sour cream. Stripped the bed this morning and got that in the wm its a beautiful day here so will get it on the line.

    Have good days all xx
  • Horrendous weekend:(
Been in hospital due to massive haemorrhage.... So just as we had got used to the idea of a shock baby, I'm back to square one where I started, except I feel like something's missing.

Luckily Noah was at his dads so he didn't see the trauma!
DH looking after me and I've been given orders from him to rest. He made me a huge steak last night to try to build me up bless him.
    Hope everyone's well.
snoozer hope you are ok my love
Keep safe in this rotten weather everyone xxxxx

  • Bright and sunny here but DH and DS have just had to go to the outlaws because a tree from the bungalows at the bottom of their garden has come down so FIL has picked them up because our car is in the garage and off they went with their axes, I think that I will get DH a new chainsaw soon. Anyhow at least we have more wood to collect and season for next year.
Got all of the washing dried on the line yesterday because we only had one small shower that lasted five minutes max which was great.

Roast pork for the boys and chicken breast for me today.

  • Good afternoon all,
Sun is shining here today. So nice to see after the amount of rain and wind we have had of late.
NPM, so sorry to hear that. Yes you must rest as your dh has said. Sending you all hugs x
Washing is out on the line. Beds have been stripped. Housework is all done. Visitors have been and gone. All i have got to do is cook dinner. We are not eating until hubby gets home from work at 7 tonight. Roast chicken with potatoes and veg.
I will probably take Jasper for a walk in a little while.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

NPM - so sorry to hear your news, am thinking of you.

Hester - ignore me, was obviously just a bit grumpy last night. It's nice that you get up with him, and doubly nice that you drive him to work. Maybe I've just been single too long, can imagine either doing that for someone or anyone doing it for me.

At work today and ex has just texted asking if he can keep the girls for one more night as it's half term, so most likely will just stay down at my mum's for one more night. My brother (who I own a house with and live with) has had his new gf stay around this weekend, so might as well give them some space.

So no OS for me today. May tomorrow when I go home. Although there shouldn't be much to do there except maybe some washing as I cleaned and tidied in preparation for brother's gf on Friday (he has never cleaned in his life as he says it's my children that make all the mess and I don't his gf thinking I'm a messy so and so).

  • Hi all
No problem Pollyanna, my hubby has been partially sighted since an industrial accident 30 yrs ago. We both try really hard to do nice things for each other, we have little money but lots of love.
We've got the brackets hubby wanted & he is now building a cold frame big enough to cover one of our huge raised beds, every so often I go out with a cuppa or to hold a piece of wood in place!
