I am coveting a Thermomix! But they are eye wateringly expensive (about £900 I believe).
Does anyone have one? Do you love it?
It wouldn't save me any money, but there are a lot of things I do that take ages which could be automated with a Thermomix. Like custard, or risotto, or lemon curd. I flipping hate standing at the cooker stirring custard over a low heat for ages! When I worked as a chef I'd have given my right arm for one and I still think I'd get tons of use from it at home, and my chef friends who have one all reckon they couldn't do without it (sadly none of them are local so I can't go and have a play).
I don't particularly like the idea that you can't just go to a shop and buy one and have to organise a demo, does anyone have experience of this?
Would be grateful for any thoughts. Even though I'm sure 99% of them will be telling me it's a waste of money

I am desperate for one - can't afford it though. A friend has one (she lives in Australia though so I can't have a play) and she couldn't live without it. She says she has saved a fortune using hers. Not just on making things like stock cubes, etc but the fact you can make soup in 10 minutes (and that's cooked!!) so she never has takeaways anymore as it is just so quick to use.
I am with you with the fact that you have to have a demo around to show you it. It puts me off as I feel I would be under pressure to buy.
Oh and one more thing my friend sold her food processes, kitchen aid and all of her other gadgets when she got it as she no longer needed them.£370/£300 April challenge :T:T0 -
That is on my wish list!! I've wanted one for ages and ages, that and a Kitchenaid :rotfl:
I've read nothing but good reviews for it, I honestly don't think they could charge that price and it not be amazingCan't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
I've been looking at it too, and don't like the idea of you only being able to see it in a demo and there is no price of it on their website. It does seem really good though, seems like a one gadget to do all type of thing0

Is it compulsory to have a demo in your own home before buying one? There are so many YouTube videos online that I am convinced it is worth purchasing direct!0

Look out in Lidl for their 'looky likey'

I have one - hubby bought it for me as a wedding present last year, just as the new one was launched.
It is a ridiculous amount of money, but I use it multiple times a day and just love it.....
Bread in literally 3 mins (plus proving/cooking time)
Cake and biscuit batter in seconds
Mayo, hollanaise, cheese sauces etc silky and perfect every time.
Soups are a doddle
Jam, chutney etc
Steamer is great
I could go on, and would given half the chance - I would deff recommend it - just waiting to get hold of a second bowl now
Edit - and it has built in scales, which is brillNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
£300/£1300 -
they are usually at the food and drink show doing demo's & selling (in London, but I assume other places too) so you could combine a trip with a look to avoid the high pressure in home sales pitch.0

I forgot I'd posted this thread. Shortly after posting it I did have a demo at home and decided I absolutely must have one. I am so glad I did save up for it as it is used every single day, usually more than once, and makes life so much easier. It's been a godsend since I had a baby with food allergies too.
About six months after I bought it they brought out the new model with a touch screen and recipe chip but I'm really not bothered that I ended up with what is now old tech.
The lady who did the demo did not give the hard sell at all, there was absolutely no pressure, it was just "here's how much it is, here's what it can do, if you would like one here's how you can order it, thanks very much". However of the four people at my demo, three of us how own one0 -
Just sat through an 8 minute Thermomix demo on YouTube and I'm left scratching my head at why anyone would spend nearly £1000 on one. What a faff.
Well at least I don't feel as bad that I spent £700? on a Vitamix any more.0
