freezing cooked pasta?
Hi I have a boy living with me for the time being who does a lot of sport. He loves pasta, which the rest of the family also enjoy, however not quite so often. Also with my son doing clubs etc also there are times when I have to dish up 3 different meals at three different times. So my question is, if I did a huge pasta…

how rude! belling range help?
I have just spent almost 15 mins on hold to belling customer services only to be cut off at exactly 6pm. So I wondered if you old stylers can help? The convection oven on my range is spewing out heat, and it has given me a nasty burn. The oven seal is sagging at the top. I put my hand in to fetch out some food and the…

Learning OS skills
Just thought I would share this with you. I was browsing the Essex Wildlife Trust's website and was thrilled to see a selection of 'countryside' courses held at their various Visitor Centres. So far, I have signed up for a 'Fungus Foray', a 'Hedgerow Harvest' and a 'Basket-making' course. Also, a day-course which teaches…

I don't know where to post this.
My brother has died and I have to empty his house. He wouldn't buy anything new for himself, he was 78, so the furniture that is there is what my parents had for e.g. a sideboard of which a drawer was used to put me in as a cot, I am now 64. What would be the best to do, phone a house clearance company or contact an…

Bacon!
We have 1kg of bacon to stretch into as many meals as possible this month. I thought of bacon and mushroom tagliatelle - once with white sauce, once with tomato sauce and hunter's chicken but then I'm stuck apart from bacon sarnies. Any ideas? We have about £30 to buy things to go with our meat (we have chops, chicken,…

Hi all Just getting into this waste not want not and I read a few days ago somewhere on this forum, a recipe for left over fat from roasting meat, flour and some other bits to bake and give to dogs as a very occasional treat. I have trawelled through the obvious boards but can't find anything. I know these are ideal to use…

Conjuring meals out of the store cupboard
Thanks to this thread, I've become really disciplined at cooking from scratch, meal planning, avoiding junk food & takeaways, etc. However, over the last couple of weeks things have gone a bit awry and I can't work out the best way to deal with it... I'm looking for a bit of inspiration or advice. The problem has cropped…

The last sting of a dying wasp... But I beat em...here's how!
Hi all, Don't know about you, but them blighters...end of season wasps are really getting on my nerves. The weather is very pleasant here now, so I leave the back door open. Fantastic Curry Recipe if youre not keen on heat.
My other half did the cooking for the first 20 years of marriage and I'm doing the next. I love hot curries but she doesn't. We go to Indian restaurants and can't get through to the waiters that my wife likes spice and lots of flavour but she can't take the chilli and she always ends up with something more resembling a…

Do spin dryers mean your clothes need a lot more ironing?
I am thinking of getting a spin dryer as our washing machine spin cycle is rubbish (1400), but I have to do a spin cycele if I wash anything on quick wash as it is only a 800rpm spin on that cycle. Although the clothes come out of a spin dryer quite dry, do they need a lot more ironing?
