Can you freeze jar sauces?
I am trying not to waste food but when there is only one eating it, it is difficult. I am planing on doing a curry this week with a sauce in a jar. I will only use half, does anyone know if I can freeze the other half (will have to be just the sauce as I will be making with twice frozen chicken so can't freeze that again).…

Your food memories please.
Posting on the Food Shaming thread I was taken back to my student days and the memory of a friend sharing his chips covered in ketchup and salad cream and with me discovering that, rather than being disgusting, the combination is actually delicious :D . Does anyone else have strong food memories? Those meals which stick in…

Altering a pair of trousers
I have a very baggy pair of chef's trousers which fit perfectly at the waist, but have legs designed to fit an elephant. Whilst my legs are not exactly sylph-like, they are certainly not in the tree-trunk category!!! I need to take the legs in - do I run a seam down the outside or the inside or doesn't it matter:o Many…

Fruit in Trifle
Hi all, I'm making a trifle for a christening on Sunday and had to start it tonight as it will have so many layers I need lots of time for each one to set! However, I've just done the bottom layer with Swiss roll and fresh raspberries with raspberry jelly. I've glanced over at the raspberry packet and see they are best…

Please help, tiny tiny caterpillars in my home
Can anyone shed any light on what these are and where they have come from??? I have cream wardrobes in the bedroom and I've just found loads of very tiny caterpillar like things on the side of it. They are about 1/8th of an inch, thread like with a round head and move like a worm / caterpillar. I'm itching like crazy

first simple sewing machine, which one?
Ok, I am looking for my first simple sewing machine, want to try my hand at sewing crafts, so must be more than one of those hand held jobbies. Under £100 but able to do more clever things if I can master the basics, looked at loads and some 2nd hand ones. But decided if I am going to go for, I may as well go good style.…

Quick help with roast chicken please!
I bought a YS counter fresh free range organic chicken from MrT today and have just put it in the oven but I forgot to weigh it and have no idea how long it will take! It isn't very big - label, if it had one, would probably say serves 3 people (altho us OS'ers could easily make it feed 8!) Obviously I know to check the…

Hi all, I'm moving home in a few weeks and have a tenant lined up to move into my flat but have a couple of issues that I hope there are old style solutions to!
