This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning All
Molly - Hope your Dad makes a speedy recovery, three cheers for your OH.
TTFTM - So sorry to hear of the job cuts, such a worrying time.
Thanks for all the thoughts, the family will be comforted by all the support, don't know if it's because they are local but so many folk who didn't even know the guy or the family have helped out - about 200 people turned out on Wednesday evening in Glasgow to look for him and hand out fliers, etc. Felt pretty awful taking the poster out of my car too.
Had an offer on the house yesterday but at 35K under the asking price had to say no!! I am pretty sure they will come back with another offer, also had 2nd viewers last night who seemed quite keen - all too much for me!! Will see what today brings, I am going to 2nd view a house this afternoon with my friendly builder - glad I have someone to ask as all this is too much on my own!
Anyway, it's Friday, I have no work this evening so will actually cook a meal with veg and have a chill out tonight. House clean and tidy thanks to DDs efforts yesterday.
Take care. XX0 -

Morning everyone
Camelot - so very sad and such a waste, hugs x
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Dull, grey and very overcast but dry underfoot here this morning.
DH on a day off, but we're both now enjoying the first cuppa of the day in the peace and quiet before the boys get up.
Dinner last night was pasta with sauce, breaded chicken steaks and dough balls.
Dinner tonight is a 2 dine for £10 meal from a well known SM - DH and I are going away so it'll be just us in the caravan for tonight and tomorro night. Tomorro night is a 3 course dinner on a steam train - should be a good night and we should meet up with some of our friends that we haven't seen for a while.
The boys are going to stay with DH's aunt and we will collect them on the way back Sunday lunchtime. They will be thoroughly spoilt as usual!
Was a bit productive yesterday, managed to get the food shopping done, the last little bit of ironing, packed for boys and us, cleaned shoes etc. All I have to do this morning is go to the bank, pack the car and we're ready to be off. Although I still haven't done any amount of baking/cooking for the tins, must get back into that as on the occasions the menfolk want a dessert they are going to the local corner shop to buy cake type things - costing way too much!
Now need to get a shower and then brekkie - have a great Friday everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning, rainy here too! Boys up very early, so will be chaotic later. School then house needs a good clean. OH had letter saying he was transferring to tsb yesterday - you'd have thought the world ended. Anyway despite having been with them for 20 years plus he was told he'd have to reopen his accounts. So we will - just elsewhere!! Will do that this morning.
Dinner tonight made - chicken curry.managed to stretch 5 large chicken breasts to make last nights dinner - enchiladas and tonight's dinner, so pleased with that. Am away on Saturday at a course in Liverpool so dinner will be down to hubby!!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning all
Raining here today as forecast.
Up early this morning as hubby has an early start due to a mix with classrooms. He's stamping around in the kitchen in a strop because he can't find his brolly, it's hanging on the front door, where he asked me to put it last night!
Fish fed and 2 cuppas made, hubby will have breakfast at work, I'll have mine later when my tummy has settled.
Molly, I hope your Dad improves & please take care of yourself and your hubby, he is a star.
Camelot, such sad news about the missing lad.
Plans today include ironing some polo shirts for hubby and having a shower and that will probably wear me out.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -

Oh dear - I didn't know they'd found him. So sad. May he rest in peace.
Yesterday things came to a head with regard to who's staying in for the builder. I'd said I'd wait in and did but the builder never came. It turned out that they won't be back till Monday but no one had told me. Lost my temper with neighbour who's supposed to be organising things and the upshot is that when the builders returns they won't need anyone to be at home. Which is a result.
Happier doings involved washing M&D's greenhouse and cold frame to make the most of the light. My coriander has finally sprouted and I put in another line of cauliflower seeds.
Today I've got a hospital appt which I may cancel as I'm not feeling great. Need to go to the supermarket a day early today as we've run out of essentials (like cat food!) and shall pick up my gardening magazine then too. Am excited to see what jobs they'll recommend for October
Hope everyone has a pleasant and very OS dayHousehold: Laura + William-cat

Mornin' all,
No rain here as yet so I've bunged some washing in and hoping it may almost dry before the downpour!
Going to do my Pickle this morning and might do some baking too.
DS has just handed me a school 'week away' trip form. Better organise some saving strategies for him to contribute.
Have a good Friday, just don't forget your wellies!0 -
Hi all,
Been raining steadily here since about 4am I think. Had the door to the conservatory open while pottering about making our packed lunches because I love the sound of the rain on the conservatory roof!
Off to work again soon, last day of the week thank goodness! Got a lot to do today, but I should be able to get everything done.
Took a couple of steaks out of the freezer this morning, so that's tonight's tea sorted.
Been on a bit of a 'Darling Buds of May' binge recently - had the dvd's on an almost constant loop in my craft room. It's so idyllic and lovely!
Finally getting sorted with our gas & electric. NPower still tried to mess things up even though we have left them and are now with British gas. I know BG are more expensive, but after the 7 months of hell we had with npower, it's totally worth the extra money.
Going to make sure I give them meter readings on the first of every month and keep a record of the readings I give.
Have a good day all, Camelot - I hope the poor lad's family can find a bit of comfort knowing that a lot of people care about them and their son.the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Morning all.
It's sunny here so I've got the dark load on in the WM.
Needle nurse is coming today to teach me how to inject into my belly - I've read the instructions and think I'll need an extra hand due to the way my thumb does/doesn't work. I've been so pleased with the way the meds have 'taken' I hope it continues.
Today I've got some more hoovering to do and then I'm photographing & writing descriptions ready for the eBay free listing weekend.
Bargainbird - you made me look at my skirtings. Bother, now they are yelling at me
Thinking Of Molly and her dad, and that poor boy's family.
Have the best day you can xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
