Can you freeze jar sauces?

I am trying not to waste food but when there is only one eating it, it is difficult.
I am planing on doing a curry this week with a sauce in a jar. I will only use half, does anyone know if I can freeze the other half (will have to be just the sauce as I will be making with twice frozen chicken so can't freeze that again).
The other option is to make my own sauce but when only making for one, I don't think it will be cost effective compared to using half a jar of own brand sauce.
Thanks

I do it almost every time I use a jar sauce, it's fine.
Just remember to label it clearly thoughThey call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0 -
Yes, I make all my own, I put them in labelled freezer bags, when we need things like chillies etc, we buy in bulk, chop it up and freeze portions in icecube trays, one portion is basically a chilli, one portion is a thumb sized piece of ginger etc.0

I freeze half opened jars of sauces all the time - and I'm still here to tell the tale! Trouble is glass jars can take up too much room in a freezer, so I usually decant the contents into a ziplock bag, then flatten and stand them upright in a ice cream tub. Don't forget to label them though!1

the jar should be fine. I bulk-make home-made soups and put it in old jam jars. Then put straight in the freezer. It's really handy because when i want some soup, I just take out a frozen jar, remove the metal lid and pop in the microwave.
hope this helps!0 -
Thank you all. I love this site so much helpful information people are willing to share. I dread to think how many half jars of sauces I have wasted. I will freeze in the jar as I plan to use it the following week so it won't be in there long. Great tip about the microwave, means it doesn't matter if i forget to take it out to defrost.
Love the idea about the soup as well. I will start saving jars as the only reason I don't make homemade soup is because its too much hassle to make just one portion.
Thanks again.0 -
