This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning chums, I loved the quiz last night and our team won, which was brilliant. We won two bottles of wine, and two more free lunch vouchers from the pub.So far we have won three bottles of vino and 6 luncheon vouchers. We are collecting them together to raffle off at Christmas at our U3A Christmas meeting. The bonus music round we lost at, but it doesn't affect the general knowledge quiz.Great night out for very little outlay (my kind of venue
:))
Today is the last day before all the DGS go back to school tomorrow. Not too sure what we will be doing today but I have to nip back home to let the gardener in at 10.00 .He will mow the lawn and weed the side bed for me.Worth every penny when, if like me, bending is a problem.
Looks like its going to be another sunny day:) I like the autumn as watching the trees change colour is very relaxing from my study window.
I've just decided that as its going to be nice, I think I may take the boys to the Country Park this afternoon.Make the most of the last of the summer while we can
Hope everyone has a good day and <<hugs>> to the sad or poorlies
Cheers chums JackieO xxx0 -

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Bright blue sky with beautiful sunshine, but a definite nip in the air here this morning. Washing in the machine.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was pork chops, roast potatoes, veg and gravy, cake type dessert for those that had room. Tonight we will have egg, bacon, sausage etc - have several bits that need using up.
Work was manic again yesterday so hopefully today will be a bit easier. Only working until lunchtime so will then come home and crack on with some jobs. I'm so looking forward to the weekend and it'll be great if the weather stays good as we can spend some time outside.
Engineer coming back today to sort out the DW - or at least see what new part needs to be ordered! We'll see what he has to say.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone
It's a very foggy day here this morning though I'm sure it will burn off shortly and we will have some more sunshine. I love the autumn, it's my favourite season with the trees turning and the nip in the air. I also love the fact that my girls will be back to school soon too. :rotfl::rotfl: Good luck to all the children that go back today.
Hubby almost missed the bus this morning as he was in such a chatty mood. He had to run down the road, it was very funny to watch as he's normally so organised. DD13 is keeping me company at the moment sitting next to me watching Titanic. I really like that film so it's no hardship for me! She's munching on a sausage sandwich and I am going to have to make one for me in a minute as it smells so good.
We have to take the evil kittens for there second vaccinations today and book them in to be neutered. At least with them being boys it will be a bit cheaper. I know they aren't really supposed to go out yet but we let them out the back garden for a bit yesterday as they are getting bored and destructive. It was very funny to see them taking in all the new experiences. Their faces looked like this :eek: when next door's dogs started yapping.
Anyway, that's about it for now. Tea tonight will be chicken thighs in a lemon and herb seasoning I bought from Approved Food. I hope it's nice as I've bought 10 packets lol. I've also got 20 BBQ seasoning packets with a roasting bag inside. I am going to make BBQ chicken on Friday instead of ordering a takeaway so I hope that's nice too.
Take care and as always, gentle hugs to all who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x0 -
Hi all.
Got some leave booked today - don't start work until 11.30 and finish at 4.30. It's 11 years since I lost my dad today and I really didn't feel like being in work all day, so I booked the time off. Would have liked the whole day, but need to be in for an important meeting so couldn't take it all.
Need to do a bit of weeding in the garden, and put lawn treatment down to kill off all the weeds growing where there should be grass. Also want to go to Asda to start off my store cupboard :-) really looking forward to it!
I have next Thursday 12th off work (due to being my rotational Saturday in) and BF has a meeting in Peterlee that day, so I'm going to drive him down there then I decided I am going to go to Beamish by myself. We have 12 month passes, and I want to make the most of them, and their new bakery has its grand opening on 12th so it all comes together nicely :-)
Depending on the weather I might actually attempt the slow walk from the entrance right round to the town where the bakery is. Since its not been long since we were there last, I'm not bothered about going into all the various exhibitions (except maybe getting some chips from Davy's!)
Hope you all have a good day!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -

Time to face the music Thinking of you today x
I didn't try the siliconing, what I have says it's suitable for bathrooms but it's low something and Master tru said high something would be better. Can't actually remember what the something is, but will scour the shelves in Screwfix til I find a tube with the word 'high' on it

It's foggy here but it looks like the sun is starting to shine through it. Hopefully it'll be a nice day.
I came down to a load of washing up this morning. I've used a couple of mugs and a small plate, and a bowl once I've finished my cornflakes. So I've emptied the sink and will just wash mine. Be interesting to see how long the other stuff stays thereSounds petty but if I do it, it suddenly becomes normal (in everyone else's eyes) and by the end of the week it'll spread to everything else and they'll end up leaving EVERYTHING to me.
I've just got a couple of things to do here then I'm taking myself out for coffee and cakeI even arranged a time with myself
Mr tru has had a phone upgrade so I've inherited his Galaxy S4. Give me a broken computer and I'll fix it, give me a working phone and I have no idea what I'm doing
I'm going to test it today, by taking a pic of my coffee and posting it to FB
I'll probably get it wrong so anyone who's friends with me, please ignore any blank posts or photos of my foot or something :rotfl:

Morning all.
Bargainbird- I used to buy DD's shirts in the ladies section due to her bustiness, cheap white fitted blouses in Mr A, pradamark etc
Sun is trying hard to shine, apparently its to be nice today then wet and wild, so my uniforms are in the WM for a freshen up, another load to do and DS's bedding can go in if he gets up reasonably early. I will carry on ironing this morning, there were 3 sets of bedding in one of the baskets, goodness knows why cos I don't iron it, DD must have brought in the washing cos I fold it, put it inside a pillowcase and put it in the cupboard!
Right, off to finish my coffee then on with some work, have a good day all and hugs where needed!RIP Iain
