Old postage stamps
Last year my mum passed away. Whilst clearing the attic I found my old stamp collection from when I was a kid (yes I was a bit geeky:)). It's from the late 70's / early 80's, so new money. I've checked ebay and I would either get peanuts or nothing for them. So my question is, can I use them for post that I send now? I…

Can you freeze clotted cream?
Hi, I'm doing a proper afternoon tea with sarnies, cakes and scones with clotted cream. I bought three tubs of clotted cream, I'm sure these pots are getting smaller! It was 3 for the price of 2. I don't want to appear a cheapskate so need 2 pots of cream, can I freeze the third one or will I just have to eat it all? :D…

I'm cold...
I got my gas/electricity bill yesterday and I'm nearly £500 in arrears so I need to radically change something. I've decided I'm not going to use the heating at all when my daughter isn't here and only use it sparingly when she is but I need to find ways to keep us - and the pets - as warm as possible cheaply. We live in a…

Roadkill, for bloke.
:hello: all, Long time no see. :D For a while now I've been thinking about trying to use some roadkill. I've seen the programmes on TV, where people actively cruise the highways and byways of our green and pleasant land, looking for things that have been run over; squirrels, pigeons, anything they can eat. This appeals to…

Frozen fish query.
I have some fish that was bought in may 2012, it was fresh cod in a vacuum pack. I put it in the freezer and it's still there. Is it safe to eat or should I chuck it? Also have some calamari that was bought at the same time, this was already frozen. Same question, is it safe to eat? Thank you. :)

Lamb expensive? - Not at the moment!
I thought that I would post this here, because a lot of folks (like us) are trying to find ways of economising with food, and at the moment there are some brilliant deals on legs of lamb, the best seeming to be Asda, where I purchased one leg yesterday (£8.50), and went back for another two today to freeze (£7.80 and…

I've left all the juices and veg in the SC and put the bones (carcass totally colapsed) back into the SC. I was going to put 3-4 pints of water in to make soup but should I…
