Morning

I have decided the house needs a good spring clean. I always start these things and one or two rooms ed up clean and sorted, but need some inspiration to do the rest of the house! Having become Pinterest obsessed I have seen lots of things that I want to make/use for storage etc but need the house sorted first.

Would anyone else like to join me so we can encourage each other.

The rooms that need doing (followed by ebay, a big car boot sale, trip to the dump and charity shop) are -

[STRIKE]Main bedroom[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]DD bedroom[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]DS bedroom[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Upstairs bathroom[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Airing cupboard[/STRIKE]
Hallway/stairs
Downstairs toilet
[STRIKE]Kitchen[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Living/dining room[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Understairs cupboard[/STRIKE]
Garden
Garage
Car (inside done)
Paperwork!

I now have the easter school holidays off so my aim is to try get as much done as possible in the next 2 weeks.

The extra side list (found from spring cleaning the rooms!)
Wash curtains in main bedroom
Paint window in bathroom
Paint bit of wall in DD bedroom
Clean oven
Clean windows on the outside
Paint woodwork by french doors

  • I intend to start in earnest over the weekend!
I had a clothes clearout not that long ago so I just need to get around to listing them on ebay! Photos etc might get taken this weekend if I have the time.
Just invested in a clarpet shampper so hoping to do one room at a time and using the cleaning the carpets as an excuse to declutter each room as I go.

Kitchen is already pretty clutter free and organised so my order of play at present is:

Living room - Declutter and carpet clean
Bathroom - Just needs a good wipe over and to sort out the little cupboard with the spare toiletries etc in so that shouldn't take long
Bedroom - tackle the laundry mountain and just generally declutter and add stuff to ebay box as needed.
Spare room - Currently used as clothes drying/ dumping ground. This is the one that will take up most of the time but it;s also the least important of the lot so it's hard to get motivated.

I'll keep you updated over the easter break and let you know how I get on!
Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!?

Hiya, I have been decluttering and cleaning since the beginning of February. About 7 weeks now. It was on Flylady as February's challenge. I would recommend listening to her.

I have just about been all around my home. Tossed a lot of stuff out as we have lived here a long time. Donated, give and recycled.
    It does make a difference.

Yesterday I cleaned my stair carpet with my vax washer for the first time. Carpet is about 6 months old. I blame the large dog and his muddy paws!!!! It must have helped. The water was black afterwards.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)
  • Trying to do one but I'm limited by feeling rough and also we have very little storage at the moment. However I'm trying the "little and often" approach and have decluttered the ensuite and the kitchen today....so many plastic lids...... at this rate it's not so much a spring clean as a 2013 clean :rotfl:
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

I am currently in the middle of a huge sporting clean! Live in a lovely big old house! But it's a beggar to clean

Done so far, scrubbed the 2 hallway floors, wiped the skirting, coving, picture and dado rail. Tidied and de-cluttered our bedroom, and little DS (same wiped all walls and 'original features, which should be called grot collectors). Done 2 sitting rooms and the kitchen and 3 bathrooms have had a deep clean. Oh and I have cleaned all the windows (inside only). I have taken 2 carloads of stuff to a friend with a second hand shop.
    To do
The playroom has been de-cluttered, now needs cleaning and tidying.
The study, currently a dumping ground needs tackling, the rec room for the kids really is a wreck.

However as quick as I am cleaning someone somewhere is messing back up! At least I will know that the new grot is clean dirt:)
  • I am looking forward to doing a good spring clean. Unfortunately the weather is so bad, that I cant really open the windows and doors to air the house out, and I uausaly wash all curtains, bedding etc. No chance would freeze on line, and never dry.

Once weather improves then I really feel ready to give house a deep clean, and get summer bedding, throws and clothes out.:)

I'm over the hills from you and I have 2 loads on the line. It is cold but we have sun and a gentle breeze and even OH's denim jeans have dried in about 3 hours.

The whirly looks odd standing in the middle of the snowdrift though:rotfl:

    Hi,
I've just done a quick search but couldn't find anything specific so here goes.

I've just had a rush of blood to the head and started proper spring cleaning. Scrubbing, polishing, moving furniture to clean behind etc.

Just wondered what everyone else does with their spring cleaning? What should I be doing?

Let's hope the sun stays out for more than 5 mins!
  • Usually a deep clean or spring clean for us is:

Bleaching down all woodwork, doorframes etc
All inside windows cleaned and framework
Clearing out the wardrobe and getting rid of stuff not used in ages

Most other bits get done regular.
To repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,
    requires brains!
