    Thank you both.
I'm a bit similar - I do a fairly good clean every week including skirtings, hoovering, dusting and cleaning the wooden floors.
Just wondered whether there were things that others do.
Good idea about going through the wardrobes - might tackle one this afternoon - they are bulging.

Have just taken everything out of the fridge and given it a good scrub and attacked the microwave too. I was going to clean the oven but found I didn't have any oven cleaner - any excuse:rotfl:

    PS No snow here

If I was my grandmother I would be opening all windows and doors all day every day for a week, washing all curtains and soft furnishings that could go in the washing machine, and taking rugs, sofas, and mattresses outside for a good beating and an air, cleaning out all cupboards/pantry/shelving and cupboard tops, all clothes out of wardrobes and blanket boxes for an air and clean inside, tops of windows, tops of doors and other hidden surfaces, getting the chimney swept, getting all light fittings down and cleaned, hoovering/wiping down the walls etc, etc, etc (in addition to the things you have mentioned).

unfortunately I'm not her, and it's blinking cold, so I am just washing the cushions and relying on the dirt on the windows to mask the state of the house!

    Hi,
I've just done a quick search but couldn't find anything specific so here goes.

I've just had a rush of blood to the head and started proper spring cleaning. Scrubbing, polishing, moving furniture to clean behind etc.

Just wondered what everyone else does with their spring cleaning? What should I be doing?

Let's hope the sun stays out for more than 5 mins!

There was a thread started yesterday on Spring cleaning so I've added your thread to it to keep the tips and advice in one place.

:D i made a template of the bottom on paper
then i cut a "pad" from poly wadding (i make quilts)
i cut a hole in the middle like a letterbox

then i got some material, and cut in a big oval, with the vac head in the middle
i hemmed it so there was a channel around the outside
and cut the same "letter box" hole (and hemmed that onto the wadding)

i put the wadding it to cushion it a bit
i ran a cord through the channel

placed the head onto my material
and gathered it up and tied it on
it might not look terribly pretty but it does the job and goes in the washing machine

I'm half way through my house, i always have a spring clean and autumn clean penciled in the diary. I normally do it when the kids are on half term/end of term, only because my kids are home schooled and i then don't see them during school breaks as they are out playing with their friends and we don't do any 'school work' those weeks.
I started early and have steam cleaned the carpets wiped all the skirting boards, doors, walls ect.
I need to get cobwebs still and do upstairs. I also use these weeks to do any little diy jobs i've been putting off. Need a few dabs of paint here and there and a few screws too.

    I'll join :) we moved in November and there are things I need to unpack (well an entire room) so here's my list of rooms;

    Main bedroom
Middle bedroom (where the unpacked boxes are!)
    Son's bedroom (which needs decorating)
    Upstairs bathroom
    Landing/stairs
    Living/dining room
    Kitchen
    Downstairs bathroom
    Garage
    Dog kennels/garden

No idea where to begin! I have a 19 month old who insists my attention must be on him 24/7.

    i like cleaning:D

    I like cleaning too:D

I have done the house and garage, it's the exterior this weekend, wash down paintwork outside and tidy the gardens.

The one job I dislike (besides ironing) is cleaning my wooden blinds, I have tried baby wipes, hoovering them, a special thing I bought from Lakeland, they are just dust magnets.

Haven't done my husbands office though, we are going to order a new carpet tomorrow and take the laminate flooring up, so I will clean that once the carpet is laid (he has approx 300 books and I don't like removing those to dust inbetween either).

Dare I say it on the OS board, but you can't beat cream cleaner, (32P Tesco), its great for the bathroom and all paintwork.
