    Hello again!
I came downstairs this morning to a gleaming kitchen, hall and living room - looking superclean in the morning sun.:)

Its inspired me to carry on, so today its the turn of the two upstairs bathrooms (there's a downstairs loo too that had the "treatment" yesterday ;)).
I plan to give all of the tiles a good scrub (no black stuff thankfully but they could do with a general buffing up), wash down the painted walls (one bathroom was redecorated last summer so its not too bad), dust the light fittings and hoover the tops of the blinds (just spotted a lovely layer of dust:eek:). They are cleaned every week - so the actual toilet, bath etc are generally clean but its the rest of the room that could do with a freshen up.

On the topic of Merlot's wooden blinds - I also hate doing this - does anyone have any suggestions - mine tend to get very dusty (probably because I don't dust them enough :rotfl:)

:D i made a template of the bottom on paper
then i cut a "pad" from poly wadding (i make quilts)
i cut a hole in the middle like a letterbox

then i got some material, and cut in a big oval, with the vac head in the middle
i hemmed it so there was a channel around the outside
and cut the same "letter box" hole (and hemmed that onto the wadding)

i put the wadding it to cushion it a bit
i ran a cord through the channel

placed the head onto my material
and gathered it up and tied it on
it might not look terribly pretty but it does the job and goes in the washing machine

I just stick a nylon sock over the end of my hoover pipe and this helps, I like the smell of the house when its been 'bottomed out' but tend to wait for the sunshine to get me motivated :):)

Dare I say it on the OS board, but you can't beat cream cleaner, (32P Tesco), its great for the bathroom and all paintwork.

On your recommendation, I bought some this morning - will give it a go- 32p, can't go wrong!

I've been doing a spring sort out and clean and so far I've done our room, DD's room kitchen and bathroom. I have bags for the bin and charity shop so made a good start! Something I struggle with is I love the house to smell fresh but I don't want to buy air freshners as they are really expensive and a bit overpowering at first but then don't last. Any ideas please? the windows are opened every day (even in winter as we dry washing indoors) but would love something scented I could use.

I have put vanilla essence diluted in water and spray onto the radiator tops, gives a light scent. Cheap airfreshner can be made with lavender if you like the smell.

My de-cluttering programme is ongoing, but anything like springcleaning will start when the weather is springlike.

It's still winter outside, so I've still got a winter mindset.

I'll be able to springcleam when it gets warmer and I can have all the windows open to get everything properly aired

    Hello everyone :)

Well done to everyone who is doing their spring clean. I find it makes it worth while when you see the results. I had a daqy off yesterday as we went to see family, but it was lovely to come home to bed and know there was no dust lurking under the bed! I have quite liked having a good sort out of every cupboard and drawer at the same time - but need good weather now to do a car boot sale!

I am making a kinda side list of things I need to do but can't at the moment. I am going to add it on to the bottom of my main list. The only thing I think will have to wait until the summer and better weather is to use the carpet cleaner.

The main bedroom, DD bedroom, bathroom and airing upboard are all sorted and cleaned now. DD (8) even helped do her room!). Tomorrow I am aiming for DS room (shouldn't take too long) then downstairs next week which are much bigger tasks really!

Happy easter everyone - don't forget to put the clocks forward an hour!

My jobs for today are to finish off the bathrooms started yesterday and to sort through one of the wardrobes.
I may even think about tackling the kitchen drawers

I love this idea :T it appeals to my liking of craft activities and having gadgets for cleaning too!
