O/S Daily Friday 29th March This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well”

You can tell something special is happening - I'm usually still asleep at this time!
The sun is shining in a cloudless sky and it looks as though spring could have arrived.
The only reason I'm up and about so early is that due to my procrastination I still have 90% of a magazine to write before tomorrow. Pity really because I have a Church thing this morning followed by lunch with my DS2's family, which will be the best time of the whole weekend, and a concert tonight. Sooooo - it's up at the crack of dawn today and probably working through the night tonight. I am a fool to myself!
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, with or without family, and a Happy Easter to you all.

morning all, :j:j
Cheep Cheep:j
Well Iv not long woke up:j:j
Bed 10:45ish Woke 2:00ish, Fell back off ,
Woke 6:05, So another Full Nights sleep for me:j:j
That's three good nights sleeps In a row:j:j
I'm Hoping to make it four tonight:j:j:j
Iv woke up With pain In both knees, This morning, Not a clue why, I'm Just hoping it don't last, Still My pain killers should kick in soon. And I;m going to do some stretching Too, It might be because I'm not use to stopping in bed for this long
Today, My Wife and I are taking the kids to the local indoor shopping center, There is a free Easter egg hunt thing were you have to go around the shops collecting what ever, Should kill a couple of hours,
Iv also go a Mushroom growing kit, For the Girls to plant, The Girls are into there growing, And have been doing healthy eating with fruit and Veg at school, We grow Veg at home anyway, And the Girls have always been great at eating there fruit and Veg, Well In fact they really love there fruit,
So I was In the pound shop yesterday and there were these mushroom growing kits on sale, So I thought well for a pound we would give it a go, I think If it works the girls will find that interesting, Something a bit different growing mushrooms.
I have grown Mushrooms before, My wife before the girls were born brought me a expensive mushroom kit as part of my birthday gifts, Now It did work, We got mushrooms, But i did think it was a waste of money, When you can pick spent mushroom compost up quite cheep, And you can also buy the mushroom spore cheep too, Good money making idea, Put it all together, Sell It In a box as a kit, Change double the amount.
Still for a pound, This kit is worth a go.
I know some people will think Plants, Pound shop ? They will not be any good, Well some old you long timers here may'may not remember that when the girls were babies In 2009, I lost my Job, That's when I relly started posting on this daily thread, And Iv been comming and going every sinceYa Can not get rid of Me:D
Anyway, Back In 2009, while out of work, A pound shop opened local to me, Well I had never been in to before, And I was quite impressed,
I over the months I pick a few plants up out of there, Now I will admit that some never did grow right, But 3 years later, Comping up-to 4 years, Some have died, I did lose quite a few last winter,
But I have some that are still alive, And one that I really can not believe how well its doing, You really would have thought is was an expensive one!
It a lovely Climbing Rose, And its done well, better than I would have ever hoped,
So so might be cheep, Not all will grow right, Some will look a bit strange looking as they grow Funny, But You can get good plants from there,
Last winter/spring was a hard one, And I lost quite a few plants. Not just cheepo one's but some that I have owned for quite a few years and that I paid dear for, This year will be the same. I have already spotted ones that I know will not be coming back,
So Give the pound shop's a go if you just wont a cheep something to fill a hole In the garden,
Aldi, I will shout for have some great plants, At very good prices, There plants are very good quilt y, And well worth the money.
Well I'm off to get another mug of coffee,
I will be back:D

Sorry to hear about little Dog, They always mae us worry, Dog's I thin make us worry more than our kids do sometimes, At least ids can help by saying how they are feeling,
Many years ago when I left school, I went to work with animal, Its something that I had wonted to do, It did not wor out in the end, And I never got the career That I wonted to do, Maybe one day I might get bac Into it, Maybe not.
Anyway, One of the Dogs that I ended up looking after quite a lot was an Airedale terrier Great big thing, With a big heart to mach!
She had to have a strict diet, And daily Jab's At the time you still have to draw the insulin out of the bottle, I think you can have the pens now like humans do ??
I had to learn how to give the Dog its daily Jabs, And also collect its first wee of the day, But not the first bit of the wee, You need the middle part of it. To test, No easy thing to do with a dog!
The Vets will show you everything you need to do, And it will be o. You will be able to do it and cope with it,
You will only have to make small changes to her life, As I know you are a great owner anyway, And she gets her walks, And the right sort of food, (Unlike some owners that don't give a damn and should be banned from owning them)
You can also show your DD how to loo after little dog now that she needs daily med's also Your OH, You never know what's going to happen and who will be there to sort her out, Si its best if you can all do it. Might take time but you will sort it.
They can live very good long lives still, And with a bit of care I'm sure she will,
You are I'm sorry to say going to have to sit down and rework you Budget,
You will be paying every month now Vet Bill's She will need check ups from time to time. But Its the cost of the meds that will need to be worked into your Monthly Budget , I don't have a clue what the cost will be. I'm sure you have already spoken to your vet about on going costs and treatment.
Good luck,:A:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Forgot to give you my weather report,
Its warmer here this morning, And you can really feel it,.:j:j
the sun is also out! I'm hoping that it will be nice today and the rest of the snow that we have on the ground will melt.
We don't have any rel meal plans for today,
We shall eat while out at the shoeing center. For lunch, There are plenty of places to eat, But most will be very busy I'm sure !
Can I ask? were Is everybody this morning ?
Is it me or is the thread a bit slow ?
Maybe its me, Think I might have had too much sleep and Now I'm hyper:D
Well have a great day everyone

TGI Good Friday! Have been awake and surfing the net for hours, still at the lakes and should visit a NT property today. Looking forward to a beautifully chilled out and stress-free day.
Oh yes, and have resolved to buy a copy of GH magazine given my revelation yesterday (lots of MSE and lifestyle tips!).Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Morning everybody, sun is again trying to get through the cloud here and most of the snow has melted. Can see my lawn again, but wish I couldn't as it looks terrible! Ground is too wet to get out into the garden yet, but am looking forward to getting started again.
This morning I am meeting a friend for coffee and then OH arrives this afternoon. Thought of going to gym, but have decided not to, but to let hip rest for a day or so.
Tomorrow i have a swimming session with my son, so will get plenty of exercise then.
Lunch will be chopped up tomatoes, cucumber, peppers and cheese. Perhaps some leftover sweetcorn. Dinner is going to be chili con carne, but instead of using a bottled sauce I'm going to improvise with value passata, chili flakes and perhaps a stock cube. Loads of vegetables and some mince. Hope it works!
Had a great time at my son's yesterday, we went for a walk at a lake local to him and had coffee in the cafe there. Also sorted out some of the issues around his care and well-being with his support staff.
Hate the clocks going forward on sunday as I love my bed too much and feel cheated of that hour!
Have a good Easter break all and hugs to those facing difficult times.'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.' T S Eliot0 -
Morning All
Headlight - Glad you seem to be sleeping better, I think everyone is still asleep as it's the holidays!!
RR - Hope Little Dog is ok.
Monnagran - Hope you get your magazine written and enjoy your very busy day. If I have a lot of paperwork to do I find getting up early really helps, so much more gets done before the distractions of the day arrive.
Had a lovely meal out last night with work friends, 3 tapas and a glass of something (I was driving so had a soft drink) and desert for £12.95 and it was lovely, very big portions too.
Having a clear up this morning and off to the airport about 12.30 to go to Southampton, it's DSILs 50th. Back on Sunday night and really looking forward to it.
Have a lovely Easter everyone. Take care. XX0
