Hi all, On one of the debt free diaries someone posted about how to cook and use the whole chicken 3 ways. I have searched and can't find it. Can anyone help. I believe you use the meat and then cook the bones, but am at a loos as to the 3rd use. Many thanks.

4 courgettes and a cabbage
My dad gave me 4 courgettes and a white cabbage and I have absolutely no idea what to do with them. I'm a terrible cook so any quick and easy recipes will be most appreciated. Otherwise, I'll keep them until they need throwing out and then bin them.

When things just aren't all that easy!
I rejoined here because I need to learn to 'tighten my belt'. You see, end of last year I had a complete nervous breakdown - together with a hospitilisation and everything. My family flew me overseas to get treated. Overworking was the major contributor (I was LIVING at work and on duty 24/7 for 18 months...literally) I…

Boiling water on tap?
Just seen an ad on TV for a system that provides boiling water on tap in the kitchen. 100 degrees actual boiling water, out of what looks like a normal kitchen mixer tap with the water turned on with a mixer tap style lever. Am I the only one who thinks that sounds horrendously dangerous? Not to mention the cost of keeping…

Cracked Crockpot?
Hi Everyone, I usually put dinner in the slow cooker before I go to work and leave it until I get in (approx 9 hours) I notices last week that the pot has a crack in the bottom and yesterday some of the liquid leaked through into the heated silver part. (only a small amount) Is it too dangerous to leave on today? Thanks :)

So what is the weirdest thing you saw in a charity shop today?
As a fan of the thread on all our charity shop bargains I thought you might join me in this thread of the oddest/weiredest things you saw while trawling through the charity shops to nab those bargains. Today I saw a box of snail shells for use with canned snails (can't imagine anyone round here buying them)! :rotfl:

What do do with nice salami
Hello! Among the oddities of my life is that I have access to very nice, German style meats prepared by a Ugandan lady who used to live in Berlin. She delivers them to my office and I'm very spoilt! This week she had some scrummy looking salami slices. What can I do with them, as my oven doesnt really get hot enough for…

A mystery for you housewives......! (slightly risque)
I love old books and was in bed last night looking through one published in 1937 that has a household hint, thought and recipe for everyday of the year. One of the "thoughts" which are written as poems, was the following: DOOR STEPS She was whitening a doorstep as I passed along the way, scrubbing hard, then rinsing - she…

How do you economise on kitchen paper towel use?
I seem to be using kitchen towel like crazy. Normal roll 2-3 days and a fat roll 3-4 day! I guess partly OCD to do with hating dish/sponge cloths. I tend to stick to 50p per roll budget or fat roll equivalent. If it's not napkin use, it's wiping down kitchen sides, blotting or drying food, spills, cleaning etc. How do you…

What to do with plaice
My husband went fishing last weekend and came home with a some lovely mackerel and some plaice. I'm not over keen on plaice as I've only ever really had it poached in milk and found it very bland. Is there any wonderful OSers that have any ideas on what to do with it? Thank you

What can I do with two baths full of hot water?
This may be a lost cause... I have a big leak coming out of the side of my house, and for a brief moment, running the hot water seemed to stop the leak (it has since started again so was obviously pointless!) so to that end, I filled both baths with hot water. Now, I have two baths full of hot water (rapidly cooling I…
