What to do with plaice

Options
My husband went fishing last weekend and came home with a some lovely mackerel and some plaice. I'm not over keen on plaice as I've only ever really had it poached in milk and found it very bland. Is there any wonderful OSers that have any ideas on what to do with it? Thank you

  • I love plaice but it does have a really delicate flavour!

I just dredge it lightly in flour, salt and pepper and fry for about 10 minutes, (in a tiny bit of groundnut oil which is great as it has very little flavour), and drizzle a tiny drop of lemon juice.

There will be other ways to cook it no doubt but I love it like this.

How about baking it wrapped it in lightly oiled foil with a couple of tablespoons of white wine or a spriz of lemon juice for added moisture? 20 minutes at 180C should do the trick.

  • light breadcrumb coating and either fried or baked. The crunch of the coating makes it much nicer as I find plaice can be a bit mushy otherwise.
