This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning All
Don't faint at me being up to start the thread, remember we have a puppy now:eek::D
Sorry to be MIA most of the week I manage to read but rarely seem to have time to post properly. First of all a catch up, LW & HS ((hugs)) to the pair of you, take it easy on yourselves. Tappers and all others not feeling 100% - have a hug hope you soon start feeling better. Elona hope DD is sorted soon.
sistercas I think I need to have words with you, the response to DD is, Hello Dear, Lovely to see you, Oh I see you have brought your washing with you, the washer is there, powder in the cupboard, and the ironing board is in the other cupboard, oh and when you have sorted yours into piles, make sure there is nothing in the basket which can go in at the same time. This was my response to DS, who accepted it gladly as it saved him powder and machine costs, and had been used to putting the washing in as at the time I was working full time+. He had also learnt to cook due to this, so had no problems looking after himself. Tough luv Mum!
OS wise, in a use up mode, eating from the fridge/freezer, so I can stock it up again before we leave in a a fortnight, before the prices will have gone through the roof in December! Like Jackie-O I like to prepare 2 days at once, and have a cooking free day, luckily DH never objects to the same meal, slightly varied two days running.;)
Last night we were treat to a Crown Carvery by some friends, which was very nice, and lovely to catch up with them, they had just had six months touring around America in a motor home.
Just about catching up with the washing, need to strip our bed today and do that, and also the caravan bedding, won't mention Mount Ironmore, but may cheat on that as have plenty to do before we go.
Today may do a bit more cutting down in the garden, so it is winter ready, with DH's help of course.
Take care all. DG

Morning all,
Cold here, but bright and sunny, wm is on the first of 3 loads, will hang it all out today, tomorrow its supposed to be raining again.
Sistercas, spoil your dd while she is home xx (can you give me your butter curry recipe ? )
Oh has gone to the boot sale, and dd is in bed, so all peaceful here, a card from the PO was put through the door yesterday, which was a signed for parcel, OH will collect it this morning, I think it may be the blind for my lounge, which I had made, if so I will get that up today, and OH needs to get a final coat on the door, we need to get that up asap as its quite drafty without .
Soup for dinner, might do either cheese on toast or a bacon sandwich with it, soup does not fill us up for long enough, last week we were all hungry again by 9 :rotfl:.
Need to see my dad at some point today, and start to have a good sort out of my clothes, there is stuff I never wear in my wardrobe, and we are doing a boot sale in a couple of weeks to raise more money for dd's trip, so it can all go to that.
Have good days all xx0 -
Good Morning Donny, Sistercas & all to follow
Its the weekend :j
Have to admit though I do not have a pleasant day plannedI have 2 vat returns to get done. I have told the family I am locking myself in my office and not to be disturbed - we will see.
No cooking today - we will be off out somewhere this evening for DS' birthday as his sister was working yesterday. I got a lot of housework done yesterday too and OH will do some more today. Need to look in the freezer at some point and sort out some meat for tomorrow.
Right off now - lots of caffeine & will power needed today.
Have a great day all.x0 -
Morning sister cas and Donna and all who cross / follow!
Saturday has dawned bright, sunny but chilly. Today the kitchen is being plumbed in by OH and a neighbour. I have a scout training afternoon to attend and numerous trips to the local tip to get rid of all the packaging from the kitchen delivery. Starting tomorrow I will be clearing through the house, as I am sick of living in a pigsty. I know that with ds1 and his issues that the place will never be perfect, but I know it will be a lot better than it is now. Will be chucking, ebaying, carbooting and charity shopping as much as I can - the rest will be stored carefully or out because it is used! I plan to make the stored items as minimal as possible. Tea tonight will very much depend on whether or not I have a cooker to use and a worktop to prepare on! Just a chopping board size. If not, then it will be YS items from the local shop! Right, tip opens in 4 mins, so need to get my shoes on and get moving. Hugs all xMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning everyone
Cold but sun is shining here
Today will be mostly crisis cleaning here and prepping stuff for DS' birthday soir!e. I have 10 kids this afternoon.....tonight's evening meal will consist of Bacardi and coke:rotfl:
I am afraid I haven't been totally OS in my food prep, bought chicken nuggets etc but I am making mini pizzas from muffins if that counts :rotfl:
Right best get a move on if I intend to squeeze in a sit down before they all get here.
Hugs and spoons all round.
EG enjoy your VAT returnI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -

DG - I like the new spelling of September!
Sunny start to the dayand I'm feeling much more alive than last night. Still gutted I didn't get to go out but glad I stayed in to recharge my batteries.
Not sure on my plans for the day yet, hoping to meet the girls to go shopping and for a catch up. If not I'll pop to the local shopping centre here for a wander and get the few bits I need, and pay in a cheque.
OS wise - got the residential trips tea-towels soaking in bleach before washing them later, WM on with clothes and 2nd load ready to go in when done then the tea-towels, hoping they will all dry outside today. Recycling sorted. LO takeaway pizza for lunch or tea. Hopefully put up some thicker curtains in bedroom if I can get some curtain rings today.
Gonna drink my cuppa then go for a jog before starting the day. Have a fab day all

The garden's much tidier, we've chopped down some bushes that had gotten out of hand and the wisteria that covered the back of the house is now only 2' tall. The chickens foraged about for days in the cuttings (should call it choppings, lol) and we burned the last of it last night.
I've still got tomatoes ripening in the greenhouses, I was hoping they'd be done by now. We're going away next friday or saturday (hoping to go friday if the owners let us have the cottage for an extra night), master tru is staying home and I know he'll forget to keep an eye on them.
I saw some fab jumpers in town but couldn't bring myself to pay £35 for one so I went to Matalan instead and paid £16 each insteadI've bought jeans, leggings, t-shirts and boots too so I'm sorted for the cold weather.
