Cracked Crockpot?

Options
Hi Everyone,

I usually put dinner in the slow cooker before I go to work and leave it until I get in (approx 9 hours) I notices last week that the pot has a crack in the bottom and yesterday some of the liquid leaked through into the heated silver part. (only a small amount)

Is it too dangerous to leave on today?

Thanks :)

  • Most things I would risk but this isn't one of them.

I just got a Morphy Richards one with an aluminium non-stick liner, from Currys, as I have been known to drop things. DG

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Would a roasting bag with the food in work or linning the slow cooker with foil?

Popperwell posted recently that she regularly uses roasting bags to cook 2 items in one go which I thought was a great idea, so yes, I would think this would be ok short term but I would be worried in case that crack got bigger...

I forgot who told me but my idea of using roasting bags is a cheaper version of something available in the States so perhaps they'll come here eventually(bet they are available on line already)

It will save on the cleaning of the pot, they are like a large bag that actually lines the pot so puts a barrier between the food and the pot...

If the pot is cracked my idea of the RB's may still not work, or may work temporarily but sadly chances are a new SC is needed.

Good suggestions from Eenymeeny and Born Blonde.
