OS Daily Thread Friday 28th September

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Hi, happy Friday everyone!

I'm not really awake...OH is taking the car today so no 6am station run for me :D I am going to try and go back to sleep once he's gone. Just thought I'd say hi and do a proper post when I wake up properly :)
  • Morning Daisegg & all who cross & follow
I have a cake to ice before I go to work this morning, we have a Macmillan cake sale instead of a coffee morning at work.
I'm on an outdoor duty today, I wonder if it will rain, I must get some waterproof shoes for wet day's it's horrible spending the afternoon with wet feet.
The fish have been fed, packups made, cuppa made, breakfast eaten, WM on.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

  • Morning everyone!

HH...you get things done early! Oh my!
    Daisiegg...enjoy your sleep in...I WISH!

I'm up...only got home from work at 11 last night and now I need to be at work in 45 minutes (and its a 20 minute walk away). Shattered.

Good news is I finish at 3 and don't start again till 2:30 on Monday. So Almost 72 hours off to recuperate!

Also money went missing last night at work and the current procedures in place are so lax it could have been anyone....not great. I may just have to write an email this weekend suggesting a few changes because the real issue is that with the current system ANYONE can be implicated...and NOTHING can be proven.

Coming home to cleaning and washing...plenty of washing! The joys of my life! Why does washing NEVER end I ask you?

    Have a fabulous day everyone!

    Me xx

    Morning all,

Raining here and a bit gloomy, hope it improves over the weekend.

My new duvet came yesterday and I put it on last night, omg I had such a comfy night, my old one must have been nearly 18 years old :o, this one is so much warmer, and feels wider too, so I am not pulling it back from OH all night :D,

Off to work for me today, dd at college, OH at work and little dog at my mums, mum said that she would cook us a fish pie tonight, but she came down with a bad cold, so dinner may be egg and bacon, will see how she is today.

Need to do a wash really but the airer is still full of last nights, so will see.

DD has a job interview at matalan next week, she put an application form in months ago, its part time to fit in around college and her other job, so fingers crossed for that.

Ok Better get on, have good days all xx
  • Morning all, dull but dry here, Jack and Loki walked and fed so off to school in a minute . Will have to forage for my own dinner tonight as DD is off to her BF's new house. Loads of washing to do so I'm with you on that one businessgirl. Bet it's lovely having DD1 home sistercas glad she is doing well. Congrats to Bitsy's DH on the job, Bath is lovely , we live quite near so could do a Bath meet up when you're there. My sisters have just moved to Melksham in Wiltshire and one of them goes to Bath to work every day. Hugs to all in need and have a good day everyone :)

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Light cloud, with sun trying to peek through, feels a bit nippy too here this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early. Will check dirty wash basket and put a load in WM if there's enough to make a load.

Dinner last night was sausages, mash, carrots, spring greens, peas and gravy, was OS too as used up some LO mash and peas from the fridge. Have all the normal chores to do today, but was reasonably productive yesterday, housework got done, did ironing, packed to go away. Looking forward to going away as will see friends we haven't seen for a while and it'll be good to have a catch up and no doubt partake of a few alcoholic beverages. :T

Did pop into MrT to buy DS2 some jeans, bought some that said style was Regular?! (I assumed not skinny, boot leg etc) got them home and he's certainly not a fat child but he's not skinny either, and he couldn't even got them on past his thighs - so they have to go back today!!

Willl be going into to town shortly, but en route I will stop off at the caravan and put the packed bag and other bits directly into the van ready to get away tonight, I want to make the bed up as I stripped the bed when we came home from hols and we haven't been away since, need to visit the bank etc, whilst I'm there I have an appointment with the tech guy at the phone shop to have a lesson on how to use my new phone!!! Am starting to find my way with it, but couldn't make it delete things it should be able to, spoke to the shop yesterday and they think there may be a fault with the handset, we'll see!! I also have to do food shopping, would like to do some baking/cooking too if time allows.

    Have a great Friday everyone x :j:j:j

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

If you still have the old duvet put it under the bottom sheet and you will be even more snug and comfy.

    Enjoy having dd back. :j

Ours comes home next weekend but we are driving to Liverpool tomorrow to bring her awkward stuff like printer, cartridges, printer paper and clothes airer and take her out for a meal. Will probably do a shop for groceries as well for her. Ordered some books from Amazon for her and paid extra for them to be delivered today so dare not leave the house till everything arrives.

Had a successful YS hunt last night - four fillets of salmon that should have been £6 a pack reduced to £1.49. Now have three packs in the freezer and a small pack of pork mince for 60p.
Three small packs of fruit salad at 39 pence each instead of £1.50 and a stir fry veg pack for 60 pence which we will have tonight with YS pork steaks.

The steak and mushroom pies turned out really well yesterday and have one left for DH's lunch so he should be happy. We might finish off the leek and potato soup as well.

    Hugs to all

    Morning all,

    Wet and miserable here too.

Ds3 and dh off at work and college, another one waiting for deliveries from eBay today so shall stay in.
Now that the Australia move has been put off at least for a couple of years I need to find a job. I do lots of bits of work from home but need a proper monthly salary if we are going to get anywhere. Dh's business is very unpredictable and I am fed up of being skint. So will bite the bullet even thought love being at home.
The problem is I need 5 wks off over Christmas for the wedding so hopefully someone will honour that.
Am going to try and avoid education if I can. I have also done quite a bit of charity work so maybe something that combines sen teaching with social care, not sure yet, will get on the case.
At least I can do the looking in my pj's !

SS bet your glad to have your girl home for a few days:T
My dd and DGS have just booked to come with. Us to the wedding do very pleased about that.

Tea tonight at my brothers roast lamb dinner, yumm.

Have a good frinday all x
