I wonder if you can help me!!
I have two problems and if you have an idea on either, please share it with me. Firstly, I have a very smelly washing machine! I have cleaned the soap and conditioner dispenser, put the temp on 90 and sent it through a full cycle with no clothes or detergents. To no avail! Secondly, a thermos flask! My hubby left tropical…

5 minute meals
Hi, I know there are a few advice threads but I was hoping to collect a few recipes together. Normally I stick to some of the brilliant menu plans on here but there are some nights where I can't face doing anything and the takeaway menus beckon. I was wondering if people have simple, cheap "five minute meals" they make in…

Can I freeze this mixture?

I have made a cookie mixture from a recipe which consisits of chopped dates, walnuts, oats, mashed banana, olive oil and vanilla essesnce. I have baked some, do you think I can freeze the rest of the raw cookie mixture to cook another time?

How often do you have pudding?
Just being a bit nosey really because I've seen a few posts on here by people who state what they're cooking for their dinner and then what pudding they're having that day. Hubby and I never eat pudding unless it's a meal out. We might do if we go to my mums for Sunday lunch, but that is a rarity! Just wondered what…

Where is it possible to buy unground wheat/rye from?
I ask because many years ago I bought something from America called a whisper mill(electric) which is designed for grinding your own flour, the theory being that you store the wheat and just grind what you need(takes about 2 minutes)...would it work out any cheaper to get wheat in this way and make flour myself?

Elderflower gin
I have just put some elderflower gin on to 'cook'. I used a recipe from the Telegraph, but then tweaked it from an online recipe. What I did was to pick a lot of elderflowers (the second recipe said to use as many as you could cram into a 250ml container, but the Telegraph said '25 flowers' which was useless - did they…

Kenwood chef
My small russell hobbs mixer is like me, getting on a bit, and yesterday when I used it there was a slight burning smell from the motor and it was making an awful rattling noise, so I may have to think about getting a new food mixer .The one I have I have had for many years and its done me good service but I don't think…

Overwhelmed by clothes
There are clothes everywhere in my house, I haven't got to the bottom of the FOUR washing baskets for months, wardrobes have some space in as clean clothes never make it that far. I can never find anything to wear, for me or the kids. The only person who can mostly find clothes is hubby, because his wardrobe is so simple,…

I don't know how to get my clothes clean
I know I should ask my Mum about this, but the honest answer is that I'm too embarrassed that I'm nearly 32 and still can't wash clothes properly. It's becoming more noticeable now as we have a 17 month old who likes to spread her food! My basic routine at the moment is that everything gets chucked in the washing basket…

Do you eat food past its sell by,best before or use by date to save money?
For example, I have an uncooked pizza, in the fridge since purchase, and as usual for pizza-all meat (usually chicken, pepperoni,or ham) has been previously cooked. Its 7 days past its sell by date. I have unknowingly eaten sausage rolls past their 'use-by' date before (never frozen-over 1 week old), and they tasted fine…
