Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 15th June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning All!
Yes I know this is a ridiculous time of day, but had a rotten waking up night so decided to get up at 4..30:eek:
Made a cuppa, feeling better now.
Going to town this morning to finally get an eyebrow wax. Had to put it off twice, as ended up having DGD. Will pop into M & S toto, as they have the £10 deal on and there is a chicken or gammon joint available.
Finally heard from DD yesterday in Spain. She couldn't get a signal on her phone apparently(don't know if thats' true!) nut they are fine, home tomorrow.
I did all the washing and ironing for her Sunday. Nine loads! Then ironed it all. Took five bags back altogether.:T
Seeing my Dad today, in his care home. Don't get to see him so much now as I have no car, so that will be nice.
Hope you all have a good day, ((((((((((HUGS))))))))) if you want them.

Morning Hilstep & all who cross/follow
TFI Friday, washing's on the line, DW waiting to be unloaded, fish fed & packup's made.
I've sold everything I listed on Ebay, & been paid for it. I need to spend the weekend sorting out more stuff to list, I've made £111 so far so I've covered this months shortfall, but I can't see me doing it again as I don't have that much stuff to sell.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good Morning HH & Hilstep and all who come along later Bit cloudy this morning, but dry at the moment .
History club this afternoon and we are starting on the 1960s which should be good. Over the past year we have done 1940s,50s and now 60s which will take us up until the end of term next month. We have such a good time those two hours just fly by and apart from learning such a lot about the decade we also have quite a lot of fun as well.I had to take one of my DGS a few weeks ago as he had a Baker day from school and when he got home he said to his Mum 'I'd like to go to Granny's class they laugh a lot, and yet its so interesting' It helps having a brilliant tutor who is passionate about history and has a great sense of humour.
Well my chaps came and installed my 'grab rails' in the bathroom so i'll be a lot safer when having a shower now(eldest DD insisted as she was worried about me falling) it keeps her happy and me safer so not all bad even though it does make me feel a bit of a doddery old woman (yeah I know I am:):) )
Well hopefully tomorrow I shall do a bit of essential food shopping I have been only going on a Saturday morning first thing for the past couple of weeks and its great as I seem to have saved quite a bit as I no longer impulse shop.
Time to get a wriggle on I suppose Hope you all have a good day whatever you are doing
take care

Morning all,
More heavy rain in the night, and more due today / tomorrow, although the flooding has gone in our area, the streams and ditches are still full, hope there is no more flooding.
Off to work today, but early finish so not too bad, not sure whats for dinner, might be fish or an omelette, will go and check in a while.
DD working all weekend, in her new job,, which she loves, so its no hardship for her.
Need to do a wash tonight and hang in on the airer.
Camelot, thank goodness you were all ok xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Good Morning All
Missed the thread again yesterday as was up and out early and all day.
Just doing a few essentials in the office then will have a mainly housework day. OS of the day - white vinegar and lemon juice will feature heavily
Dinner will be something very simple like burgers and chips, or I have a load of the Christmas turkey in the freezer which I could turn into curry.
Not raining here at the moment but has been raining overnight, just about to check the forcast for today and the weekend.......fingers crossed.
Hope you all have a great day. (((hugs))) wherever needed.x0 -
Morning all, not too bad here at the moment so dog walk was dry. Off to school in a minute, late one tonight as we have the summer fete straight after. We're having it indoors because of weather so I don't suppose it will be as successful as other years.
Hugs to all in need. Hope you feel better soon Hilstep and enjoy your visit to your Dad. Well done HH on your e-b*y . sales. Camelot glad you are OK, it did make me laugh the image of your daughter opening the door to the fire brigade. Hope it all gets sorted soon. Hope your DD had a good birthday Tru
Islandmaid, all of my family are better cooks than me, also my DD is an ace cleaner, she did contract cleaning at a local school all through 6th form so she can really clean, will miss her when she eventually moves out.Have a good day all.:)£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.

Morning all
Hester - well done on the sales.
Dry here at the moment but we've got weather alerts for heavy rain so I've popped a load of bedding on the line in the hope it will dry before the wet stuff arrives.
Got in-laws arriving in about half an hour, FIL is going for a biopsy at our local hospital, parking is dreadful so DH will drop him off and go pick him up again. It did force me into making sure the house is presentable so not a lot else to do in the HW line today.
Brought new net curtains so DD1 has been cleaning windows and helping me put them all up in between exams and revision, only three exams left now - the end is in sight. Need to take up DD2s curtains, they were for a much bigger window in our old house and I've been meaning to do them since September when we moved in.....they're on the table with the sewing machine so no excuses today.
Need to pop to do the SM shop at some point, we're nearly out of cat food although they do keep bringing in their own catches, only the 2 chicks, one adult bird and two mice yesterday....but still insist on their food bowls being full!
Egg and chips for tea, Not that I'll be able to taste anything thanks to a sinus infection!
Hope you all have a great day/weekend."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Morning everyone
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Cloudy but sun trying to break through here this morning but not cold, it rained heavily in the night so very wet underfoot and more forecast for later. DH up and off to work at stupid early.
Tried a couple of times last night to contact my parents but just got ansaphone and not able to leave a message, obviously the situation was at a point where neither of them felt able to leave - so am expecting a call at some point today - could try to contact them again this morning but won't do that until later as if they've been up most of the night then they may be trying to get some sleep. Hoping Aunt's passed away so she's no longer suffering.
Dinner last night was sausages, mash, carrots, spring cabbage, broccolli and onion gravy, then HM apple pie and cream for dessert. Was productive yesterday and managed to get the housework done, changed our bed, did all the washing, drying and ironing - managed to get it line dried too. Renewed fishing licences for the boys, sent some emails, packed for going away this weekend, then had just enough time to make pastry for the apple pie! Will be heading out shortly to the bank, then food shopping, then will return home to do some baking/cooking so we have some treats to take away and some bits for the tins for next week - haven't done any baking on a Friday for ages, and haven't been menu planning either - hopefully will be able to get back into it and start again next week, feel so dis-organised like this.
Have a good Friday everyone x
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

JackieO - I have grab rails by the loo and in the shower, makes me feel much safer. I also have a bath lift now which is like a big blow up armchair. You use an electric pump to blow it up to the top of the bath, step in, sit on it and deflate. It lets me have a lovely bath, then I blow it up again and step out! My OT's got it for me, best thing ever!I Believe in saving money!!!:T
