Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 14th June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all,

Sunny here again, although meant to be bad rain here again tomorrow and all weekend, hope there are no more floods.

Off to work today, dinner for the others is something and chips, I will proably have some sausages, and a couple of duck eggs that my friend gave me.

Will do a wash tonight and put it on the airer, and I have mr T delivering.

Have good days all xxxx

    Morning everyone

Can't remember who was having a new king size bed, sounds good to me, lots of room for rolling around! :p

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Cloudy and overcast here this morning, although the sun is supposed to break through the cloud later then more rain during tonight - we'll see! DH up and off to work at stupid early.

Aunt still with us although deteriorated further yesterday, Doc said that he thought it would be "hours or days but not many days" but this is the same Doc who said she wouldn't make it through the night on Sunday - so just trying to give my parents as much support as possible. But mum was there all day yesterday and I managed to speak briefly to her last night and she seemed to think that it was possible that she would go to sleep last night and pass away peacefully - hoping that is going to be the case as she's still suffering and won't tell the Doc she's in pain although she tells my parents. They couldn't have a Nurse last night to stay the night so dad stayed with her. :(

Dinner last night was HM spag bol - managed to make a good one again, everyone really enjoyed and there was clean plates all round. I've changed how I make it, I now make a tomato sauce base that I then simmer for 40-45 mins before then adding the quorn mince etc and it seems to give the sauce better depth and flavour. Tonight yet again haven't planned so need to organise something today.

Have a "to do" list as long as my arm, although managed to make a dent in the washing and drying bit yesterday afternoon - still several loads to go but getting there - will put another load out on the line in a mo. Have a dental appointment at 9am so will get that done, call into the SM to get something for dinner, then will get home and crack on with the "to do" list. House looks a bit of a bomb site at the moment so hoping by the end of today I've managed to get it cleaned and sorted at least it'll look better then I'll crack on with the ironing mountain.

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Morning Redruby, sistercas JackieO and Miffy257 and all who cross and follow.

Yes I agree on getting the washing out early-I don't have a tumble drier either.

JackieO glad Henry ok with dentist yesterday-nothing like a Gran is there!

Bright here so will put a load in the wm.....don't know what's for tea.

Puppy next door crying for next door to get up-they are looking after it for a week and when the wife goes to work it cries until he gets up. Bless !

Well coffee with a friend today so that will be nice -at hers I expect in between breakfast club and afterschool as she manages playschemes, breakfast club and afterschool for a school in an affluent area.

They have been decorating their bedroom so we can compare notes. Our plasterer came and priced our bedroom last night-he will start when DS goes on holiday on the 25th so we can sleep in his bedroom and not in the sitting room. Result!

Anyway have a good day all.

Raining here so glad dh has used wood preservative on the shed.

Going to make dd and dh boiled egg and toast and then go out to weekly market for free range eggs and also take library books back.

Had a good trip to York yesterday, got prescriptions filled for me and DH, finally found foil dishes, got dd hair masques ( Superdrug had a deal on the new John Freida repair treatments which was advertised on tv last night so dd well impressed). Really pleased I found a pair of black linen trousers which had been reduced to £8 and then reduced again to a fiver when I got to the till! Even managed to get my hair cut and restyled and raced back home to make bacon quiches, salad and spicy baked potato wedges for tea.

Not sure wether to defrost chicken pieces and make curry tonight or to use up potatoes and make veggie potato cakes to have with bratwurst tonight. Might defrost chicken anyway and boil potatoes this morning ready to cool for later. If it stays this damp and dreary am tempted to make soup which sounds ridiculous for the middle of June.

One dd has gone off to work with a couple of the tiny quiches for lunch and 18 year old dd will probably appreciate me leaving her lunch if I will be out for a while so should probably get a move on.

    Hugs to all

    Morning everyone,

Lovely and sunny here this morning, don't think that it will last though! Washing went out at 7 30 this morning so I hope that it will be dry when I get home.

Hester only 5 and a half weeks till the end of term, hold in there!

    nmlc hugs

Flutterby glad that you enjoyed the spa.

Been reading the thread on hoarding, I really admire the OP, and it has spurred me into action to start chucking things out. I have put loads in the recycling that is being collected today and given away a pair of snowboots that are 2 sizes too small for any of the family.
Now I am clearing out my desk at work. I feels really good.:D

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
