    Afternoon All

Happy 21st to Miss tru, I suppose I am too late for a bucks fizz?

Had a horrendous day yesterday, DD lit the fire in the living room and the chimney caught fire and set fire to the roof. Last one to know was DD who found out when the fire brigade turned up. She opened the door and asked 'can I help you?'!!

Anyway, they were fantastic. They were here for about 2 and a half hours to make sure the fire was out and then another crew came about 7 to check on things. They were concerned that they could see a hot spot on their thermal imaging camera so cut a hole in the wall in one of the upstairs bedrooms. It turned out to be a stone in the chimney that was holding heat. Big clean up operation awaits us when the loss adjuster has been tomorrow.

Too tired to do anything os apart from make risotto for tea, must do some washing so we have clean smoke free clothes for tomorrow!

Take care and remember to check those smoke alarms. XX

camelot - so glad you are okay! (still deeply envious of anyone with a fire that can be lit). Will it all be salvageable? Everyone must be in shock.

Hiding here as little bear and OH are cooking tea, OH found a recipe on the internet. Smoke alarms have not gone off.

Evil cat is hiding somewhere, which is a blessing as they are cooking fish. Since darling father moved in and started feeding her scraps she has learned to beg really well

Camelot OMG what a to-do! Hunky firemen notwithstanding, it's the sort of thing you can well do without! I think you deffo deserve to share the bucks fizz after that. *Hands Camelot a glass*

It's a very good point about checking smoke alarms - I test mine weekly, it's actually on my list of reminders, so it always gets done; I've experienced a house fire once, many, many years ago, and it's not something I wish to repeat.

    Evening all

    Happy 21st birthday Miss Tru

Rainy day here, but was indoors with work kids so didn't really affect us. They have been painting murals in the new team room of our new building this week. As I've been off I was amazed by what they had done so far!! It looks really good :) Should finish it tomorrow.

No plans tonight, may just chill out in front of tv. I can't decide whether to cook a big pot of veggie chilli or not. I don't have much room in the freezer for the LO's but really fancy it for tea. I do need to start eating up my freezer contents though!

OS wise - dishes to wash

    Have a good night all

Thanks guys, it could have been worse. At least everyone is safe, everything else can be replaced or repaired. Luckily our loft is in a different part of the roof so nothing damaged there (like photos).

that sounds awful, glad you are all okay. how weird on some bbc show the other day they went to a house where a poorly fitted wood burner was trapping heat and the wall was 70C!

OH got in from work 20 minutes ago and I'm already thoroughly cheesed off with him. After a little argument about various things we came to the conclusion that I should only talk to him if it's a question and I want a reply  He has just stormed off to finally get the dustbin I have been asking him to get for ages and he is acting like such a martyr, all he has to do is drive to the shop and dump it in his car- it's too big, heavy and too far for me to physically do alone without a car!
It should take him ten minutes but it wouldn't surprise me if he !!!!!!s off for the next few hours now. Though not just to the pub as that would be too sociable for him  I suggested we go on a walk and pub trip with a local group of 20s & 30s and he point blank refused!

Camelot  I'm so glad you're all OK.
Bucks fizz ran out hours ago, but I can open a couple of bottles of elderflower champagne :D

I've showered, mostly dressed (just need to put my clean shirt on), done my hair and make-up. The phone rang about half an hour ago, miss tru is extremely pissed, said she'd be home later and asked if we can go tomorrow instead  I said no. We thought she was going out with her mates but it was her idea for us all to go for a meal instead, mr tru rearranged things to go out tonight and we had to borrow a car (we only have a van), so I had to ring and cancel it. Trouble is, I've hardly eaten today because the meals at the restaurant are so huge, I'm starving and now have to cook something  Might go to the chippy.
