I've noticed teeny tiny brown dots appearing on my white clothes after they have been washed in the machine. Has anyone else had that happen? Does some part of my machine need a clean? Thanks Poppy

Mini chopper - what do you use yours for?
Hello all I have a mini chopper. I use it for breadcrumbs - I whizz up left over bread and put it in the freezer ready for use. I also use it to chop onions and save my tears. I don't really use it for anything else. A couple of posts have made me think that others are using theirs for much more. Please let me know how you…

'spray' cleaner for hob, - what to use?
Hi all, I'd like to make or buy a cleaning product for our cooker hob top. I'm not too keen on the idea of harsh chemicals, so I thought about making one, but am not sure which would be the best product(s) to use for it? It's an electric cooker, the hob is made of a kind of enamel (I think!) and it has metal rings. The…

Can you cook packet rice in a rice cooker
My wife recently bought a rice cooker and it is great. Basmati rice is very easy. 1 cup of rice + 1 cup of water turn on, wait for it to finish. or 2 cups .. 2 cups etc etc For a change I was going to try one of those packet rices, with added flavouring and vegetables. The instructions on packet worked out at 1 cup rice to…

wet sticky dough?
I am just wondering what I am doing wrong when breadmaking. I am trying to make HFW flatbreads from river cottage veg. It calls for 250g strong white flour, 250g bread flour, yeast and salt, and 325ml water. He says it is a wet dough, and not to worry, but it was so wet it sat in the bottom of the kenwood and would even be…

I found the recipe below for Iced Coffee which I have never tried but like the idea. We don't buy ground coffee though and I don't want to buy something that is too strong. Has anyone any suggestions which would be the best to use? Ta. http://pinterest.com/pin/189643834279389255/ ;)

Can someone answer a question for me?
Regarding bread?! DH thinks (is he right) that if a loaf is reduced to 1/2 price with date ending say today then if we freeze it today and defrost next week we have to eat it within 24 hours? Is this right? How long will it last once frozen on it's 'whoops' date and defrosted a week later?? Any help will be…

Now that I have joined this forum, it has spurred me on to start saving money anywhere I can! The first thing I did this morning was to download Microsoft Money, to help me sort out my budget. Usually I do it with a pen and paper, which I am still going to do, I just wanted MS Money to help me work it all out faster and…

What Did People Eat In The 1950's
Hi, I couldn't see if this had been asked before but I was wondering, does anyone here know what people ate in the 1950's type of era, (that is my inlaws and grandparents era but they haven't been much help). Or if you don't know then maybe you could point me in the direction of a book? I know there was less (or…
