OS Daily Thread - Sunday 17th June - Father's Day

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 17th June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning all

I'm awake stupidly early :( and I feel like I'm coming down with a cold :( my throat is all tickly. Hoping I'll go back to sleep in a bit.

Happy father's day to all the lovely dad's out there!

I'm cooking lunch for my parents later, it's my Mum's birthday on Tuesday so thought I'd kill 2 birds with one stone :rotfl:. I'm doing a veggie roast, but I have HM nut roast in freezer so will use that and make spuds and veg.

OS wise - dishes to wash, dinner to cook, hoover needed, WM should go on but it's still raining.

    Have a good day all

Hi Flutterby and All Who Follow x

Thankyou for starting the thread - I was debating it but then someone else is also up at a silly time on a Sunday.

DD gone to work for 6 - she has another cyst on her eyelid so is a moaning minnie. Also her beloved IPhone has broken (AGAIN) so is beside herself. I did say to her that instead of being Father's Day it was Insert DD's name Day.

The wind has calmed down this morning and there is sunshine:T:T:T

I have started posting on the Messies Thread as my home is descending into chaos. I cant do Flylady so need to start setting myself some de-messing challenges this week. There are mounds of dirty washing to be organised and clutter everywhere as we are still in the process of making eldest son's room habitable. The floor boards had to be ripped up and replaced (dont ask), the wall re plastered, the door frame mended etc. A huge job for his dad to complete.

Well we will be cooking a nice lunch today for Kid's Dad and I went to see mine yesterday.

Miffy - thank you for the PM - Your quilts are wonderful. Im a very nervous beginner xx

    Have a good day xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all
It's sunny today, woo hoo. WM is on, fish fed & DW emptied.
My kids sent hubby a fathers day card & he's really chuffed & DD paid for some nice steak for him, so it's steak & chips for tea today.
    Molly. I've pm'd you.
Today I need to portion up the ready meals I've made for hubby for next week when he's on late shift & list a couple more items on Ebay. I also need to tax my car, I love being able to do it all online, it saves a frantic hunt for all the relevant paper work.
    Have a good day

    Morning all,

Up early for me on a Sunday, dd is off to work at 9, and I have to drop her off, as its to rural for any buses and too far to walk, never mind its only a 5 min journey, and she loves the work.

Need to come back from dropping her off, hang the washing on the line (our bedding),and put dd's bedding in. Other than a general tidy round, that will be it for tidying today.

We are all off to see my dad later, and take him a nice tea in, little sandwiches cake etc, we were going to bring him home for the afternoon, but last time he got too stressed, so we thought it best to go to him.

Dinner is something with sausages, maybe wedges and sweetcorn, I will have some veg with mine, (no wedges).

Happy Fathers day, and Hugs to those who no longer have their dads with them xxxx

    Good Morning All

    Happy Fathers Day :)

Lovely and sunny start here in Essex, am waiting for OH to get up and chose what he wants to do today. We were thinking of going to Chinatown but he may want to just stay at home - completely his choice today.

Whatever we do I need to spend some time in the house this morning, it is a complete mess. Have had to be up and out early a couple of days this week and not home till late and it seems if I dont keep on top of the house each day it descends into chaos.:( Saying that I have cleared the ironing pile though :j

Thats it for me, have a great day whatever you are doing.x

Messies thread? which one is that? I sooo need it. The last two times I have tried flylady I came down with a vomiting bug and I am never sick. I think it was all in my mind (actually quite a lot was in the bathroom - tmi?).

Father's Day. Out for lunch with darling father, little bear, OH, darling brother and his friend. Darling father has chosen where we are going, but all are happy with that. OH unpacked the present for darling father from us so unable to wrap (can't find). I am nearly out of bottle bags, despite not writing on labels and re-using, they seem to get used up so quickly! I bought lots in Makro when they were on offer after Christmas but they seem to have evaporated.

Brought three binsacks of textiles back from darling uncle's house. Today I hope to sort/start washing them.

    hugs to all.
