Hi I have been playing with my new food processor and have found a recipe for Neiman-Marcus cookies that someone sent to me Only trouble is the recipes are for 2 cups of butter (500 mls) and 4 cups of flour (1000mls) How do I switch it to gms or better still lbs and ozs it apparently makes 112 cookies and they are supposed to be delicious It does say you can halve the amount (just as well or I'd be the size of a small county)Any ideas anyone as I really fancy making these for my DGS

I would be tempted to just use a measuring jug as I have been getting into using cups lately, think I find it slightly quicker then getting the scales out.
http://www.deliaonline.com/conversion-tables.html has some good conversions as it considers the density of what you're putting in the cup too e.g. a cup of marge is heavier than a cup of flour.
ETA: remember that UK and US cups are different, only slightly but it helps to know if the recipe includes cup and eggs rather than everything being in cups.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
A cup of butter is two US sticks, which is 8oz or about 225g. A cup of flour is 150g, which is about 5 1/4 oz.
I bake a lot of US recipes.0 -
